Considering the Multi-Purpose Display Designed for Aircraft Lightning Protection (낙뢰보호를 고려한 항공기용 다목적 디스플레이 설계)

  • In this paper, we introduce measures designed content for RTCA DO-160 F, Section 22 tests performed to verify the effects of indirect lightning and testing process of the test was carried out in the multi-purpose display certification process. This is referred to as indirect effects of lightning capability of an aircraft having electrical electronic equipment failure or damage to bring lightning induced voltages. In order to protect the avionics from lightning indirect effects of these aircraft are analyzing the effects of lightning strikes on aircraft and aircraft systems and interior design needs protection against the threat on their part. In this paper, we introduce RTCA DO-160 F, component selection process according to Section 22 category selection method and the selected level for determining the level of such measures for protection against lightning of multipurpose display for this aircraft. It also introduces the actual test process to confirm that the designed effectiveness of the selected part. We expect a good example of the lightning planned for future development of measures designed avionics through each step of the process introduced this.

A GUI-based the Recognition System for Measured Values of Digital Instrument in the Industrial Site (GUI기반 산업용 디지털 기기의 측정값 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we proposed and implemented a GUI-based system to recognize and record measured values of digital instruments in the industrial site through image processing. Unlike the existing vehicle license plate recognition system, the measured values of the measuring instrument are displayed on the LCD screen as digital numbers. So, the proposed system considers the decimal point, a negative sign, light reflected by LCD protective glass, and various disturbance factors. We used blob-labeling technique to recognize the numbers displayed on the LCD screen, the recognized number images were determined as certain numbers through the template matching, and recognized values were recorded in the storage device with measurement time. Therefore, the proposed system in this paper would reduce the burden of writing when recording the measured values of the inside/outside diameter or height of the product in the industrial site, so effective and errorless process management in production process is possible by preventing errors in recording measurements when written by hand.

  • This paper introduces the design details and test procedures of the lightning induced transient protection device for protecting the damage caused by indirect lightning strike on the computer mounted on the aircraft. Lightning induced surge voltage is bring a malfunction or damage to the aircraft electrical and electronic equipment, that is referred to indirect effects of lightning. In order to protect the electronic equipment on aircraft from the indirect effects of lightning, that is achieved by analyzing the effect on aircraft from lightning and protect design for each devices. In this paper, we introduce an indirect lightning strike level decisions, the protection circuit design method according to the chosen level through the RTCA DO-160G Section 22 category analysis and selection was performed in order to protect the damage caused by indirect lightning strikes in the protected equipment. In addition, we show the indirect lightning effects verification test performed to validate the designed protection circuits.

  • This paper investigates a low cost dual modular redundancy system based on heartbeat which can be applied to traffic control signal system. Failure of the traffic control signal system can cause traffic confusion and traffic accidents. Therefore safety and reliability of traffic control should be secured using fault tolerance technology. To do this, we configured a redundant board using the open source hardware and the heartbeat technique of Linux HA. The function of the traffic signal control system was verified and the fault recovery time was measured using fault injection test. As a result of the test, the fault recovery time was confirmed to be less than 9 seconds on average, confirming that the reliability target time is satisfied. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that it can be applied to fields requiring high reliability systems such as aviation, space, and nuclear power embedded systems.

  • In this paper, we introduce the design consideration of the lightning induced transient protection circuit for the indirect lightning strike on the avionics equipment. The lightning induced surge voltage, which is so-called as indirect effects of lightning, may cause a functional failure or physical damage to the electrical and electronic equipment of aircraft. In order to protect the electrical and electronic equipment of aircraft from the indirect effects of lightning, we should analyze the effect of lightning strike on aircraft and consider applying protection design for each avionics device. However, lightning induced transient protection circuits can have unintended consequences because parasitic inductance elements are exist in PCB and TVS diodes. In this paper, we introduce the design method of the protection circuit considering the parasitic inductance of the protection circuit. In addition, we show the result of verification test performed to validate the protection circuits for indirect effects of lightning.

  • This paper proposed system for providing the national competency standards learning module, which has changed and updated from time to time. The provisioning server of the proposed system provides learning module, and the management server carry out fault management, billing, request management, statistics and aggregate, etc, and the target server requests the learning module in the provisioning server through the domain. The proposed system determines provide of the learning module by CORS based on filter, which is to determine whether matches or not with domain of the provisioning server and the target server. The proposed system can be patch and maintenance remotely about NCS based learning module to be new update and removed. Also, the proposed system may provide contents in conjunction with existing educational systems, and may be extended in the future to enable the management for domain of the target server.

  • The current state monitoring system at a semiconductor manufacturing process is based on the manually collected sensor data, which involves limitations when it comes to complex malfunction detection and real time monitoring. This study aims to design a situation recognition algorithm to form a network over time by creating a domain ontology and to suggest a system to provide users with services by generating events upon finding risk factors in the semiconductor process. To this end, a multiple sensor node for situational inference was designed and tested. As a result of the experiment, events to which the rule of time inference was applied occurred for the contents formed over time with regard to a quantity of collected data while the events that occurred with regard to malfunction and external time factors provided log data only.

  • This paper studies the security module for the reliable transmission of the meter reading and the control data between the remote terminals and the upper server-side in smart water grid. The proposed security module was implemented to make it attachable to the remote terminal without security function. In particular, unlike the smart grid of electric field, the low power is considered due to the use of battery power in the smart water grid, and the ARIA-GCM-128 symmetric key method is adopted taking into the account that the damp and constrictive environments by the installed meter location in the underground occur a communication obstacle on building of the large-scale network system. The encryption module of this paper was devised to ensure the safety between the reading data on the terminal and the control data from the upper server, and secure the stability of the remote meter reading system by taking protection against an arbitrary alteration or modification.

  • Artificial intelligence is closely linked to our real lives, leading innovation in various fields. Especially, as a means of transportation possessing artificial intelligence, autonomous unmanned vehicles are actively researched and are expected to be put into practical use soon. Autonomous cars and autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles are required to equip accurate navigation system so that they can find out their present position and move to their destination. At present, the navigation of transportation that we operate is mostly dependent on GPS. However, GPS is vulnerable to external intereference. In fact, since 2010, North Korea has jammed GPS several times, causing serious disruptions to mobile communications and aircraft operations. Therefore, in order to ensure safety in the operation of the autonomous unmanned vehicles and to prevent serious accidents caused by the intereference, rapid situation judgment and countermeasure are required. In this paper, based on big data and machine learning technology, we propose a countermeasure system for GPS interference that supports decision making by applying John Boyd's OODA loop cycle (detection - direction setting - determination - action).

Machine Learning Model for Predicting the Residual Useful Lifetime of the CNC Milling Insert (공작기계의 절삭용 인서트의 잔여 유효 수명 예측 모형)

  • For the implementation of a smart factory, it is necessary to collect data by connecting various sensors and devices in the manufacturing environment and to diagnose or predict failures in production facilities through data analysis. In this paper, to predict the residual useful lifetime of milling insert used for machining products in CNC machine, weight k-NN algorithm, Decision Tree, SVR, XGBoost, Random forest, 1D-CNN, and frequency spectrum based on vibration signal are investigated. As the results of the paper, the frequency spectrum does not provide a reliable criterion for an accurate prediction of the residual useful lifetime of an insert. And the weighted k-nearest neighbor algorithm performed best with an MAE of 0.0013, MSE of 0.004, and RMSE of 0.0192. This is an error of 0.001 seconds of the remaining useful lifetime of the insert predicted by the weighted-nearest neighbor algorithm, and it is considered to be a level that can be applied to actual industrial sites.
