The effect of shipbuilding industry foreign exchange hedge on exchange rate, volatility of exchange rate and the policy implication (조선산업 환헤지가 환율 및 환율변동성에 미치는 영향과 정책적 시사점)

  • This paper finds that business in the shipbuilding industry affects significantly the exchange rate and its variability. The effects of the amount of orders received and construction in the shipbuilding industry on the exchange rate and its variability are preemptive and long lasted. This implies that business cycles and the exchange rate hedge in the shipbuilding industry are important factors in understanding the exchange rate and its variability. Advancement in the technology of exchange rate hedge in future may reinforce the importance of business cycles in the shipbuilding industry. It is, therefore, required that the policy authority should monitor carefully the shipbuilding industry for the stability of foreign exchange market.

The Impact of Capital Structure for Ship Investments on Corporate Stability (선박투자자금의 조달구조가 기업의 안정성에 미치는 영향)

  • The capital structure of the shipping business, which is characterized by its capital intensity and extreme market volatility, is closely related to long-term stability. Research in this area has been conducted mostly in the form of deriving the determinants of capital structure from company-wise financial ratios. This research, on the other hand, has a different approach to the topic. It identifies the relationship between actual cash profit and loss and other variables - i.e. actual vessel prices, interest rates and leverage ratio - by employing historical simulation. The result demonstrates that the P anamax cash profit shows 0 (break-even point) when the debt weight reaches 64.38% (debt ratio 180.74%) and the Cape, 73.04% (debt ratio 270.92%). Additionally, the ships of different types show a divided pattern for the pre- and post-'Super Boom'. It indicates that the business area and the market cycle should be considered when a leverage strategy is established. This research benefits shipping companies set a rational leverage strategy as well as delivers a reasonable guideline to government authorities for the development of a sound policy on shipping finance.

  • The Main object of this research is directed to LG Oil company harbor in kwangyang-hang, where various ships ranging from 300 ton to 48000ton DWT use seven berths in the harbor. This harbor suffered from inefficient and unsafe management procedures since it is difficult to set guidelines for arrival and departure of ships according to the weather conditions and the current guidelines dose not offer clear basis of its implications. Therefore, it has long been suggested that these guidelines should be improved. This paper proposes a decision-support system, which can quantitatively decide the possibility of entry or departure on a harbor by analyzing the weather conditions (wind, current, and wave) and taking account of factors such as harbor characteristics, ship characteristics, weight condition, and operator characteristics. This system has been verified using 5$_{th}$ and 7$_{th}$ berth in Kwangyang-hang harbor. Machine learning technique using genetic programming(GP) is introduced to the system to quantitatively decide and produce results about the possibility of entry or arrival, and weighted linear associative memory (WLAM) method is also used to reduce the amount of calculation the GP has to perform. Group of additive genetic programming trees (GAGPT) is also used to improve learning performance by making it easy to find global optimum.mum.

  • 서보시스템은 공작 기계, 자동화기계용 등의 제어에 사용되고 있는 대표적인 제어 시스템으로서 관성 디스크를 교환하기도 하며 전자가변 포화도와 히스테리시스등을 사용하여 고정밀 연구용에도 이용가능하다. 그러나 모델의 불확실성이나 외부외란이 필연적으로 존재할 수 밖에 없으므로 이를 분석하고 규명하여 원하는 목적의 제어를 위한 제어기를 설계해야만 할 것이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 제어대상 시스템의 불화실성을 극복할 수 있고 비선형항의 소거를 통한 선형화가 아닌 비선형 제어기의 설계를 가능하게 하는 Backstepping 제어기법을 사용하여 서보시스템의 정밀한 제어와 시스템 안정성을 보장하고자 한다. Backstepping 제어기를 설계하여 다양한 조건하에서의 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 제안하는 제어기의 최적 수행 능력을 보이고자 한다.

  • 선형 시스템에 대한 Lyapunov 함수의 구성법은 잘 알려져 있으나, 비선형 시스템의 Lyapunov 함수 구성법은 아직 체계화되어 있지 못하다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는, 비선형 시스템의 안전도 해석을 위하여, 종래의 정상상태 부근에서 Taylor 전개에 의한 선형화 기법에 의존하지 않고, 비선형 시스템을 나타내는 상태공간의 활동성 모델로부터, 비선형성을 나타내는 항을 분리하여, 특수행렬변환시킴으로서, 선형 시스템의 Lyapunov 함수 구성법을 살린, 행렬다항식형 Lyapunov 함수를 구성하고, 이를 유도전동기의 안전도 해석에 적용시켰다. 그 결과, 구해진 안정영역은, 선형화에 의한 것보다는 훨씬 넓은 초공간으로 표현되는 유도전동기의 점근안정영역이 되었다.

  • In this note, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear continuous variable structure control system(VSCS) based on the modified state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear VSCS is presented. The uncertainty of the nonlinear system function is separated into the tow parts, i.e., state dependent term and state independent term for extension of target plants. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics and in order to easily satisfy the existence condition of the sliding mode, the transformed linear sliding surface is applied. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the linear transformed sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. For practical application, the discontinuity of the control input as the inherent property of the VSS is improved dramatically. Through a design example and simulation studies, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.

  • This paper studied the design VE (Value Engineering) process among the various methods to satisfy the requirement of user and cost saving in the overall redesign process for the Turn-key base construction project. This study has been estabilished the rational and practical analysis process with the stepwise by using the design VE process. The efficiency and safety were verified with the adoptian of computer simulation to cope with the problem of initial analysis and verification for design VE process in the large construction project. In the previous design VE process, there is a limitation for the analysis of design VE in the planing stage and the execution time period of the large construction project. The previous application of VE technique was only for the construction of harbor facilities, so there was no contribution of cost saving in the function and construction. However, this paper proposed the selection methodology of VE items and hence the redesign VE process can be efficiently improved. It can be also improved the process of functional analysis rationally and practically. About 4.6 billion won has been saved with applying to the harbor construction project with using the VE method proposed in this paper. The study gives the direction of VE to be accomplished efficiently in the similar project.

  • In this paper, we study the posture control of an underwater vehicle with nonholonomic constraint. Generally, systems with nonholnomic constraints cannot be stabilized to an equilibrium points by smooth state feedback control. Therefore, we proposed a control strategy for posture control of the underwater vehicle using backstepping control. The proposed control scheme is applied to the posture control of an underwater vehicle and verified the effectiveness of control strategy by numerical simulation.

운항안전지원 해양특성정보 활용방안 연구

  • 선박 운항안전 지원을 위한 해양특성정보 활용 방안을 연구하였다. 국외에서 구축 운영중인 운항안전 지원을 위한 해양특성 정보시스템의 개발 사례 검토를 통하여 운항안전 지원을 위한 해양정보의 필요성 및 주요 구성 요소를 검토하였으며, 국내에서 구축 운영 중인 해양정보시스템을 사례 검토를 통하여 국내 시스템의 한계 및 문제점을 제시하였다. 또한 사례검토의 시사점 분석을 통하여 향후 국내 운항안전 지원을 위한 해양특성정보 제공 시스템의 개발 방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과로 국내 해양특성 정보 제공 시스템의 현황을 파악하고, 운항 안전 지원을 위한 시스템의 활용 및 보완 방안을 제시하였으며, 운항안정을 위한 필수 정보 요소들에 대한 구현방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 운항 안전 시스템의 일부 개발에 활용될 예정이다.

  • 목포, 진도, 인천, 대산 및 여수권역에 설치된 해양기상신호표지시스템은 지속적이고 안정적인 데이터 확보와 데이터 Quality 유지가 중요하며 상시적인 현장점검 및 유지관리가 수반되어야 한다. 정기적이고 체계적인 유지관리를 통하여 주변 환경으로부터 장비를 보호하고 관측정보의 신뢰성을 높이고 장비 장애 및 오류를 사전에 방지할 수 있다. 관측자료의 효율적인 활용을 위하여 홈페이지, ARS/FAX, SMS 등의 서비스를 통합관리하고, 통합품질관리 기술개발 및 서비스 체계 표준화를 통하여 범국가적인 해양기상관측서비스 체계 구축이 필요하다.
