  • This paper has made an empirical research on airline staff working at Incheon international airport, who perceived safety culture in their organization and delivered safety information while the staff were providing service against passengers. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the relationship among safety culture, service quality and service provider efficacy to find out which factor of safety culture had a significant effect on both service quality and service provider efficacy. Following the results from empirical research, this paper would provide administrative implications which could be applied to improve airline's service quality and to manage effectively the airline staff at field. According to research, it was found fairness culture among safety cultures had a positive and significant effect on both service quality and service provider efficacy. However, reporting/studying culture had a negative effect on them. In other words, it would decrease airline service quality and prevent active service provider's efficacy at airport if a airline management focused reporting/studying culture of safety. It is important to settle down fairness culture of safety to motivate and improve service quality.

The collected questionnaires were analyzed using spsswin 12.0 and Amos 5.0 statistical package for the empirical and statistical analysis. The conclusions were as follows: Firstly, cabin attendants' job stress level had significant negative impact on job satisfaction, but the organization commitment seemed to have a positive impact on overall job satisfaction level. Secondly, job stress didn't affect cabin attendants' organization commitment. The result of the study indicates that there needs to be various way implemented by airline management to dissolve the airline's cabin attendant's overall job stress, in order for the attendants to be satisfied with their job and consequently preventing a high turnover rate in the cabin attendant crew. • With the rapid development of China's economy, the aviation industry, as an important part of transportation services, has undoubtedly achieved rapid development. However, there is hardly any academic work that was based on the development of the top airlines in the Chinese airline industry. Hence, this study provides empirical research that takes into account the longitudinal development of the top 20 airlines in China from 2009 to 2018. The throughput volumes (cargo and passenger) of the airlines were analyzed by concentration indicators, namely the concentration ratio (CR), the Herfindahl- Hirschman index (HHI), the Gini coefficient, and the shift-share analysis (SSA). In this paper, the top 20 airlines have been analyzed in terms of the passenger and cargo throughput from 2009 to 2018. The calculation results of CR6, HHI and the Gini coefficient show that the airlines were extremely deconcentrated. In addition, by comparing the ABSGR of passenger and cargo throughput, it is shown that China's aviation industry is dominated by four airlines- Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines. In the future study, it is necessary to explore growth strategies to find niche markets for passenger and cargo transportation.

  • As part of the ongoing global process of airlines forming strategic alliances, Korean Air has become a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, while Asiana has joined the Star Alliance. However, as something akin to the Anti-Trust Immunity(ATI) initiative has not been ratified domestically, these two airlines have seen their roles within these strategic alliances significantly reduced. In keeping with its domestic airline liberalization policy the U.S. government has instituted a mechanism through which foreign airlines that join such strategic alliances with their American counterparts can be exempt from the U.S. antimonopoly law. As a result, U.S. airlines have been able to forge wide ranging cooperative relations with foreign airlines, and thus increased their competitiveness within the air transport industry. This study analyzes the applicability of this Anti-Trust Immunity initiative to the domestic environment.

  • Airlines tried to introduce training programs in connection with practical work in order to provide more effective education and training. To this end, airlines have been conducting evidence-based training(EBT) to strengthen the practical capabilities of aviation personnel and enhance safety culture. Airlines can systematically evaluate the capabilities and practical capabilities of aviation personnel by analyzing operational data and case studies for effective EBT model development. In addition, EBT models can be constructed by applying technical methods such as crew resource management (CRM) and a holistic approach that includes human factors. Due to the introduction of EBT, airlines will establish diagnostic and feedback systems for pilots' practical work, provide personalized education, and establish an education and training system that verifies the effectiveness of education through educational outcomes.

  • This study analyzed the effect of flight stress on job satisfaction and safety culture on 193 domestic civil airline pilots. As a result of the analysis, flight stress had a negative effect on job satisfaction, and pilots with low job satisfaction had a low awareness of safety culture. In particular, there was a difference in the effect of flight stress on job satisfaction and safety culture according to the airlines and rank of pilots. This suggests the necessity of developing customized stress management programs for each airline and pilot position. The study emphasizes the importance of managing pilots' stress and improving job satisfaction to reinforce the safety culture of the aviation industry. In addition, airlines should develop strategies to strengthen safety culture by reducing pilot stress and increasing job satisfaction. The result of this study is to be used as useful basic data for finding ways to manage pilots' stress and strengthen safety culture in the aviation industry.
