This article reviews the film acting studies of Kracauer presenting the basic approach of traditional film theory. It is to provide a foundation for film acting theory in order to activate the domestic acting studies. While Kracauer explaines the difference between traditional stage actor and film actor in 'Remarks on the Actor' of Theory of Film(1960), he suggests the characteristics of the cinema acting and its media technical meanings. He emphasizes the acting forms presenting the postwar new realism in his film acting studies. His approach takes the perspective of 'physical reality' or 'camera reality' which is the basic premise of film theory. Kracauer insists the naturalness of the actors, listing the features of professional actors, non-professional actors and Hollywood stars as they are a familiar classification for the types of actors. He does not prefer the Hollywood stars, whether it is fiction or documentary, professional or non-professional actors, but he emphasizes negative acting, the ability to express words by doing nothing, based on indeterminacy or indefiniteness of the film. Kracauer's film acting studies has affected later film theory and media-related acting, and has become the principles of cinema textbook and acting.

영화산업은 삶의 질을 향상시키고 있는 현대 사회의 시대적 반영에 부응하는 문화산업으로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 이러한 영화산업에서 흥행의 성공여부는 영화산업의 발전과 결부되는 부분이라 매우 중요하게 인식하고 있다. 흥행을 좌우하는 지표에는 다양한 요소들이 존재하며 그 중에서 주연배우의 특징과 영화의 본질이 맞을 때 성공적인 영화라 평가할 수 있는 일부분의 지표라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한국 영화에서 대표적인 흥행 마술사라 불리우고 있는 여성 영화배우 4인에 대한 음성분석을 통해 영화의 성공에 미치는 요소들과의 상호 연관성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 대표적 여성 영화배우인 김혜수, 엄정화, 전도연, 문소리의 음성 분석을 통해 이들이 주연으로 출연한 영화의 흥행과 상관관계를 분석하였다.

This thesis is a study on the creation of characters of "personality actors and character actors" among the concepts of "star persona" of S. Prince. This study selected 7 representative films of Jung Woo-sung, a representative personality actor in the Korean film industry, and analyzed how 'Jung Woo-sung-character' is embodied in the film as a character component suggested by R. Dyer. In the traditional sense, the actor's acting has been highly valued for transformation and impersonation in character creation, but discussing the method of creating a character focusing only on the actor's acting in a movie acting implemented in combination with advanced technology I don't think it's suitable for movie acting research. Theorists such as R.Dyer and Edgar Morin, who studied film actors and stars, also emphasize that 'movie actors are different from theater actors' (by the film medium). Therefore, in this thesis, a detailed analysis of the acting of a personality actor was avoided. As Morin pointed out that the character in the movie can be implemented through the actor's image and type, not playing the type of role. I tried to propose the significance of this character creation method of the personality actor by analyzing actor Jung Woo-sung and his character.

This study focuses on analyzing the trend of Korean movies and the issues caused by industrialization and the alternatives. The results are as follows: first, there does not exist distinctive genre movie as most of the movie producers concentrate on thoughtless genre fusion of movie, simply hoping for box office success. Second, Giant companies that has large amounts of money and distributors tend to monopolize production, distribution, and running of movie. Consequently, the development of diversity and artistry is absolutely impeded. Third, the structure of Korean movie industry make some well-known movie stars survive the film world and staff members and actors except them face economic difficulty. The solution plans for the problems mentioned above can be drawn like this; first, genre film with distinctive features should be developed. Second, the monopolistic structure of the screen should be changed. Legal organizations are required to redesign the system of unfair Korean film industry. Third, it is suggested that quantitative expansion of special theaters of diversity film be urgently needed. Fourth, appearance fees given to popular movie stars, actors, and staff members have to be provided in a balanced way. Fifth, the way for revitalization of film production should be found through the legal examination of fund for film development. Last but not least, the profit from the additional film market ought to be made.

Movie network as a social network shows power-law distribution that is one of distinct properties in scale-free network. We constructed movie network from 799 Korea movies that screened from 2000 to 2009 and analyzed structural properties of the network. The 799 movies was classified three groups as a spectator mobilizing power. One million spectators mobilizing power movie was denoted the first class. The best 10 movie directors who produced at least three movies for ten years and had 70% the first class movie of them were selected. We also preferred the best 20 movie actors who played at least five movies for ten years and had 70% the first class movie of them. We re-constructed core movie network that composed the best 10 directors, the best 20 movie stars, and 157 movies that were produced by the directors or were played by the movie stars. We predict a possible combination of the director and movie actor as a category of the movie that has highly spectator mobilizing power. Here, we provide insight and method for producing high spectators mobilizing power movies

This study analyzed the factors affecting box office performance of 200 movies released at the Chinese theater in 2015. The results showed that main actor power, online rating, production power, and Chinese film were sighificant factors which influenced box office, while the distribution power, genre, IP utilization and integration of production and distribution were insignificant. These results mean that online marketing factors such as the popularity index of the main actors evaluated on the internet and the online rating are affecting box office performances in Chinese theaters.

In general, film acting refers to American method or Hollywood method. Hollywood method is a term to denominate collectively actors from Group Theatre of Lee Strasberg which accepted Russian Stanislavski's system as American acting. We can find out the origins of Korean acting in the attitude of actors who imitate Hollywood. Hollywood method, which seem to be more systematic and rational in the previous Sin-pa, has begun to be accepted in the fields of actors, directors, critics, and educators. The perception of Hollywood method in Korea is part of the search for the identity of Korean film acting. This article approaches from the perspective of four fields. First, it is Korean actors' perceptions about Hollywood methods. Second, I examine the attitude of the direction of staff and technical aesthetics regarding Hollywood method. Third, it is evaluation aspect in criticism area. Fourth, it is an aspect of education.

The advancement of the Science for complex systems enables the analysis of many social networks. We constructed and analyzed a Korean movie star network as one of social networks, based on the 100 Korean movie selection for a main data source. Until now, the research trend has been the structural analysis of network, focused on link numbers, such as degree, betweenness and clustering coefficient. But it is time that the research is not limited by the structural analysis of networks only. Rather, the research goal should be aimed to an information analysis, performed by identifying and analyzing central modules that are regarded as the core of complex networks, using k-core analysis method. In this research, we constructed a network of movie stars who have appeared in 100 Korean movie selection, provided by Korean movie database, also we analyzed its core modules with and without weights, and the trend of seasonal expansion of the network. We expect our findings can be used as the basic data applicable to a model for understanding of the expansion and evolution of networks.

This article examines how Brecht's Gestus is borrowed and transformed into the film. I examined the critical debates on the film's use of Brecht and the style of Brecht's acting adopted in radical experimental films and Hollywood films. In addition, through the case of Korean film actor/ress, I sought to apply the Brechtian theory. First, despite the criticism that the film's acceptance of Brecht is overly formal and mechanical, film theory and practice reflect Brecht's ideas. In particular, regardless of the socio-political situation of Brecht's day, his Gestus is suitable and useful for film acting. Brecht's thought was realized by technological innovations such as montage and computer special effects, and above all, the social attitude of the actor was popularized through the education of the audience. Second, his strategy on performance is no longer unfamiliar, and goes beyond the boundaries of contradictory daily life and art, and becomes the pleasure of popular film. Although the intentions of naturalism and anti-naturalism in acting arts are different, the process and effects look at the same point. Third, through the case of Korean film actor/ress as an attempt of popular understanding about Brecht strategy, I could confirm the possibility of searching identity of Korean film actor/ress.

Learning how to express and express the characteristics of acting expressions required by different media is easy to express the acting required in various mediums. The style of acting required by each medium is different depending on the characteristics of the medium. In particular, digital acting using computer graphics technology expresses actors as if they are in the space by imagining the imaginary space. Through computer graphics post-production, the actual space that will be visible on the final screen is completed and creates a story based on the actual situation. The role of digital actors in applying motion capture to movies is becoming increasingly important. Natural cross-reaction acting between live-action actors and digital character actors has become a trend in animation films where only digital actors appear. In animation films, a real actor plays a major role in connecting the characters of a digital actor. The core of a digital actor is the realization of a unique character performance. In the era of trans-media, the importance of digital acting is increasing day by day.
