Estimating the Contribution of Industrial Water on Output and Price Elasticities in Manufacture (제조업 생산에 대한 공업용수의 한계생산가치와 가격탄력성 연구)

  • This paper estimates output and price elasticities of the industrial water in order to provide the government with tools that help make educated decisions with regard with the water provision policies rendering the latter more efficient. The estimated output elasticity produces useful insights on the role of industrial water as an input into the production process while the estimate of price elasticity enablesus to forecast the effects of various water pricing policies. This paper employs the marginal productivity method in order to estimate the abovementioned elasticities. The magnitude of the estimated output elasticity imply that the value of industrial water is much higher than its average price while the price elasticity estimate suggests that the water pricing policy can be an effective tool of controlling the demand for industrial water.

Estimation of the Value of Road Traffic Noise within Apartment Housing Prices (아파트가격에 내재된 도로교통소음가치 추정)

  • In the developed countries, traffic noise is one of most serious problems faced by people's lives. So the importance of the traffic noise is quite well recognized by the infrastructure planners as well as the people. The traffic noise is valued in monetary terms in some countries and it is reflected in estimating the net present value or benefit/cost ratio. On the contrary, the effects of traffic noise are not reflected in the assessment of infrastructure in most cases in Korea. However, as the income level has been increasing, more people have been becoming to put more importance on their living conditions. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the value of traffic noise in the Seoul metropolitan area. The housing price were surveyed to use the quasi-hedonic price technique. By this way, two housing prices at the same floor level in different 128 complexes in the Seoul metropolitan area were surveyed. the actual traffic noise level was also measured. The differences of housing prices and noise levels were analyzed using the various types of regression models. The value is quite different by size of house. The value of large house is higher than that of small house. Since the income level of people in large house is higher than that in small house. it might be said that value of traffic noise for high income people is higher than that for low income people. Moreover, the increase of 1dB(A) noise affects the house price by about 0.3% in Seoul metropolitan area.

가치 창출과 기업의 거래비중에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구는 기업의 이윤에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 거래비중을 결정하는 데 있어, 고객가치가 갖는 영향력 및 고객가치 향상을 위해 해당 기업이 갖춰야 할 요건이 무엇인가를 규명하고 있다. 대부분의 기업 간 관계가 복수의 형태를 취하고 있는 현실에 비해, 가치의 선행요소를 규명하는 데 있어서 기존의 연구들은 주로 이원적인 관계에 국한된 연구를 수행함으로써, 실제 유통경로가 처한 상황을 충분히 설명하지 못한다는 한계가 있어왔다. 본 연구에서는 기업의 가치창출 활동이 경쟁우위와 관련되어 있다는 전략이론의 관점을 바탕으로 가치의 선행요소를 규명하고 있다. 연구 결과 가치의 구성요소인 관계혜택과 거래비용은 기업의 거래비중을 결정하는데 결정적인 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 관계혜택이 거래비용에 비해 상대적으로 더 큰 영향력을 갖는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 가치의 선행요소에 있어서는 기업이 가진 자원에 초점을 맞춘 Resource-based view를 기반으로 한 변수들에 비해, 다른 기업과의 관계에 주목한 Relational view에 관련된 변수들이 고객가치 창출에 더 큰 영향력을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 추가적으로 행해진 환경의 불확실성의 조절효과를 규명 결과, 환경의 불확실성은 주로 Relational view를 기반으로 하는 관계적 특성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 경영환경의 변화를 예측하고, 변화를 창조하며 적극적으로 대응하고자 하는 오늘날 기업 활동의 노력은 전통적인 경영관리시스템(MIS, Management Information System)의 한계를 인식하고 있다. 테일러의 과학적 경영관리 기법을 근간으로 발전해온 MIS분야는 종래의 경영환경, 즉 변화 정도가 미약하거나 또는 예측 가능한 변화의 환경 속에서 기업관리 활동이 가능한 경우에 그 효과를 볼 수 있었다. 전략적 기업관리(SEM, Strategic Enterprise Management)는 기업의 가치창출을 위한 근본적인 프로세스에 관심을 가지고 있다. 이 연구에서는 기업의 가치중심 경영 기법과 연계되는 성과관리시스템의 새로운 설계 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 기업의 전략적 가치동인(value driver)을 도출하여 전략방향의 대안을 제시하고 그러한 전략대안을 달성하기 위한 균형성과지표를 개발한다. 향후 이 지표들은 다시 가치동인도에 반영되어 기업의 전략적 가치향상을 위한 지표 선정의 적정성을 검증하게 된다. 결국, 기업의 가치창출이라는 대명제 안에서 가치평가모델링(VBM, Value Based Management)과 균형성과 지표의 연계성을 강조하는 틀을 제시하게 될 것이다.

Economic Value of Industrial Water Use (공업용수의 수종별 경제적 가치 추정)

  • The information on the economic value of industrial water use is widely demanded in policy analysis area as well as academic research area. Therefore, this study attempts to obtain more accurate economic value of industrial water use using the economic theory. To this end, we conducted a survey of 1,017 manufacturing firms and estimated the economic value of industrial water use based on the concept of value of marginal product (VMP). Moreover, this study tried to estimate the VMP of three industrial water types, river water, precipitated water, and purified water. The results show that the VMPs of river water, precipitated water and purified water are estimated to be 769.24 won/$m^3$, 896.76 won/$m^3$ and 1,861.95 won/$m^3$, respectively. The value for the precipitated water found in this study is not significantly different from that (885.1 won/$m^3$) used in the pre-feasibility test implemented by Korea Development Institute (KDI). These imply that the latter is appropriate for evaluating the economic benefit of supplying industrial water, though it is based on 2003 Industry Survey.

  • As business activities of firms for maximizing profits has resulted in increases in economic, social and environmental problems in regional geographies, they have stimulated some social activities through enhancing their public image and justifying their conducts. In fact, firms have been given concerned with a decrease in profits due to the promotion of their social activities required by local communities. However, firms are able to create shared value resulted in added value creation centering on shareholder as well as stakeholder by expanding increases in economic and social values. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to draw an index which is able to evaluate the mechanism of virtuous circle resulted from creating shared value(hereafter CSV). At the same time, it has attempted to analyze some limits to and real effects of CSV by the index. The paper has analyzed the CSV of certificated coffee by using the index of sustainability in the Vietnamese coffee industry. The introduction of certificated coffee showed positive effects in the order of environmental, economic and social indicators. However, the structure of closed decision-making in Vinacafe, which is a state-firm, has not able to secure enough economic profits for CSV, leading to some limits to the formation of virtuous circles in the Vietnamese certificated coffee industry.

A Study of Appropriate Amounts and Applicable Ranges of the Travel Time Values of Goods in Korea (우리나라 화물 시간가치의 적정 크기와 적용 가능 범위 연구)

  • This study assesses the appropriate amounts and applicable ranges of travel time values for freight transport modes in Korea. The findings suggest that it is possible to determine appropriate sizes and applicable ranges of travel time values of goods set for road transport mode (i.e. truck), whereas those for railway, inland waterway, marine, and air transport modes are not as easily estimated. The adequate travel time value for trucks is 20,000won/vehicle hour, and the application range of travel time value of trucks is 17,000~23,000won/vehicle hour considering other variables. The most adequate estimation method of determining the travel time value for road transport is the wage rate method, whereas the marginal rate of substitution method is more rational for railway, inland waterway, marine, and air transport modes considering the application purpose and characteristics of the goods transported.

  • Reappraisal is a process to examine the past appraisal decision. The reappraisal theory is based on two facts: first, appraisal decision can not be always correct, second, the archival value is changed by time. So, reappraisal policy should complement the limit of the first appraisal results, which is based on the function analysis. To achieve this goal, it is needed to use different process and methods from the first appraisal. However, existing reappraisal system does not meet the essential purpose of reappraisal. This article examined the limit of the reappraisal policy. To complement the problems, this article set a direction and suggested the subject-based reappraisal. The aim of this study is to present the methods to document the society of the generation.

  • Economic value of a certain technology is of great interest and importance in a wide variety of investment circumstances. These vary from companies considering investing in R&D projects, to venture capitalists funding start-up companies. However, such valuation is extremely difficult in any case, and the cost of failure can be very high. Many techniques have been proposed to assist managers facing this issue, from traditional discounted cash flow analysis to more recent methods based on real options. In the meantime, the discounted cash flow method has limitations in applying the valuation of technology. At the same time, there have been various solutions to overcome theoretical problems of the method. Real options have been thought as a solution. However, there are another problems in using them in real world. This paper reviews the previous studies on the valuation of technology in several aspects, discusses the practicability of the various methods available, and explore the application of a hybrid model, which aims to make these rather aore the ideas more accessible to practicing managers.
