The scholarly communication crisis is not a journals crisis, but rather a broader crisis in information communications. It is the loss of access to the scholarly research literature, as the rising cost of STM journal subscriptions far out-strip academic library budgets. Now, the open access as alternatives to traditional journal subscription model are emerging for STM scholarly information. There are basically three forms for OA strategies : Open Access Journals(OAJ), Author Self Archiving(ASA), Academic Institutional Repositories(AIR). This paper describes the current trends and analyses potentially serious limitations and obstacles or various issues of the OA strategies, including the notion of scholarly information as a public good, myths of free access, author pay model, holder of copyright, etc.

한국출판문화학회(회장 전영표) 제12회 학술포럼과 임시총회가 6월 20일 오후 2시부터 6시까지 서울 마포구 마포동에 있는 한국학전문서점에서 개최됐다. '출판 잡지 인쇄문화의 현상학적 연구'라는 대주제로 열린 이날 포럼에서는 3부로 나누어 진행되었으며 그라데이션 커브 변화에 따른 CTP화상 재현연구(오세웅, 신구대교수), 디지털인쇄의 현황과 미래(이종찬, 신구대교수), 일본의 출판잡지 통계분석(전영표, 신구대학교수), e북과 한국출판계의 전망(이기성, 계원조형예술대학교수)등의 연구 논문이 발표됐다. 다음은 이날 발표된 '디지털인쇄의 현황과 미래인쇄'와 'eBOOK과 한국출판계의 전망'을 소개한다.

Background: There haven't been any papers that have analyzed the recent trends in the changing attitudes and results of Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons who submit scientific papers to the major cardiothoracic journals. Material and Method: I analyzed the original articles that were published in the major cardiothoracic surgery journals from 1995 to 2008 by Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. The data was retrieved from the internet websites of Pubmed, three major international SCI (Science Citation Index) journals and the Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. I then analyzed the data according to the chronological year, the subjects and the subspecialties. Result: The total number of original articles in the three international journals was 14,629. Among them, the number of articles written by Korean scientists was 157 (1.07%). A sharp increase was identified from 28 articles out of 7,674 articles (0.36%) prior to 2002, to 129 articles out of 6,955 articles (1.83%) after 2003. On the other hand, the annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was markedly decreased from 126.8 articles by 1999 to 80.0 articles after 2000. The annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was also decreased from 58.8% by 1999 to 48.3% after 2000. Conclusion: There was an observed increase in submitting articles to the international SCI journals after 2000 rather than to the Korean journal. The proportion of original articles in the Korean journal is also decreasing. I think we need to pay special attention to improve the quality and quantity of articles published in the Korean journal.

In this paper, the automatic keyword classification which is one of the automatic construction methods of retrieval thesaurus is experimented to the Korean language on the basis that the use of retrieval thesaurus would increase the efficiency of information retrieval in the natural language retrieval system searching machine-readable data base. Furthermore, this paper proposes the application methods. In this experiment, the automatic keyword classification was based on the assumption that semantic relationships between terms can be found out by the statistical patterns of terms occurring in a text.

현대사회에 있어 대중매체가 사람들에게 미치는 영향력은 지대한 바, 여성잡지에 게재된 식품광고 역시 소비자들에게 미치는 구매력과 홍보효과는 대단히 크다고 하겠다. 또한 식품광고는 그 시대 소비자들의 식품에 관한 관심의 방향과 식품선호도를 나타내주는 동시에 유행을 창조하는 기능도 가진다고 한다. 그러므로 정확한 광고내용은 소비자들을 위한 좋은 영양교육 자료가 될 수 있지만, 반대로 내용이 부정확하거나 과장된 경우, 소비자들은 그릇된 정보로 인하여 피해를 볼 수가 있다. (중략)
