This study aims to identify the characteristics of Korean secondary school students in perceptions on and needs to school libraries, and suggest an effective library management directions based on the characteristics. To achieve this purpose, we compare the perceptions on and needs for library elements, such as facilities, collections, programs, etc., between middle school students and high school students, and analyze the differences. Based on the results from the analysis, we suggest to establish an orientation of school library management. We also suggest a need of further study in which differences in the perception and needs among grades in a level of the secondary school for more detailed customization of library services.

This study aims at developing standardized needs assessment tool for school library facilities. To find common properties of school library facilities, this study explored KLA's Standards for Korean Libraries, IFLA's The School Library Guidelines and AASL's Empowering Learners. Through these standards 10 common properties are selected to include in the assessment tool. As the result, this study proposed needs assessment tool for school library facilities in form of survey and several ways to apply it according to each library situation.

This study is an analysis on the needs assessment of school library facilities in Korea. After exploring KLA's Standards for Korean Libraries, IFLA's School Library Guidelines and AASL's Empowering Learners, the needs assessment tool of school library facilities was proposed in the previous study. The tool contains 10 major properties on school library facilities. This study gathered data from 507 students and 134 teacher librarians. The result of analysis is as follows: Students and teacher librarians evaluated the importance of library facilities more highly than the current level of facilities. Collection access, convenience and space are revealed more important properties to students and good environment, expandability, collection access are more important to teacher librarians among the properties.

In this study, the writer explained what have been the problems of school education and of school library media center in our country In the problems of school library media center, the writer point out especially poor quantity of teacher-librarians at the field of school education in our country. And then explained how school library media center can be developed. Finally the writer suggested how the problems of school education can be resolved by the school library media center.

지식정보사회로 불리는 21세기는 필요한 정보와 지식을 검색 수집 활용하여 문제를 해결하고 새로운 정보를 창출할 수 있는 자율적이고 창의적인 인재를 요구하고 있다. 이러한 사회적 요구와 자기 주도적 학습을 위한 자료 제공 중심 교육환경의 공간으로 학교 도서관을 선정하였다. 본 연구는 DLS II 기반 도서관 홈페이지를 활용한 국어과 수행평가 개발 자료 개발 및 적용을 통해 교육정보화에 따른 학교도서관 활성화 방안을 제시하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.

This study aims to present the relationship between the teachers' information needs regarding guidance and the perception of educational guidelines issued by the Office of Education. The research design was conducted based on the reviewing theoretical background studies, and questionnaires were found in in-depth semi-structured interviews in a pilot study. Gyeonggi Province is divided into four regions, which is the target of the survey. Teachers of three schools in each region were surveyed, and eventually 217 copies of the survey were used for the final analysis. The result shows that the role of school libraries in caring for teachers' information needs ultimately influences the improvement of teachers' guidance. Based on this result, the study suggests ways to improve information services provided by school libraries. In particular, the study is meaningful in that it has presented a potential service plan that can be performed by school libraries to help address teachers' information needs about guidance in schools.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate propriety of remodeling and present improvement as a case study of a school library. For this, we analyzed investigation of the process of it by selecting a school library which has been completed recently and surveyed user satisfaction after remodeling. According to the survey result, is shows that the user satisfaction of information service and education activity that are library's function and role are efficiently increased by remodeling. In case of the school library, on the other hand, it shows that the users still need not only the improvement of the space structure and aesthetic environment of the exterior and interior but also the expansion of the stuff and facility.

This study is about the position and role of the school district library media director in the USA in order to introduce and promote this position in Korea. It will help support the 'Master Plan for Promoting School Library: Making Good School Library' launched by the Korean Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development. For the research. the position and role of the school district library media director was researched by literature review, observation, questionnaire, and interview methods. Establishing the position of the school library media director in districts is necessary to promote school libraries in Korea. Finally, it suggests that the major of the school district library media director is library and information sciences. The school library media director should have technology knowledge, educational skills, leadership as an administrator, strong communication skills with their school librarians. advocator skill as well as have a wide knowledge in library and information sciences.

It is necessary to find a genre classification by reflecting the needs of users since a subject that makes up the highest proportion of books in the school library is fictions in literature and KDC cannot accept user's need to access fiction in school libraries. This study suggested the genre classification for fictions in school libraries through surveying classification of fictions in domestic and foreign libraries, and comparing between classification systems of online/offline bookstores, KDC and DDC. For developing the genre classification system, it is to collect genre terms for fictions, to extract 14 genre headings among them, and to assign the acronym of English genre terms as classification notation. For applying the newly developed genre classification, KDC number of one middle school library was converted as the 3 methods such as combination of KDC, genre term before 800 and only genre terms. This study could contribute to suggest the genre classification of fiction to reflect user needs and to overcome the limitation of hierachical classification in KDC.

According to the 7th education curriculum and advent of information society people expect the school library to do various things. Based on an evaluation model of education policy, the policy process of the school library was divided into an agenda setting, policy making and policy implementation. Then I developed a method of evaluation from an administrative and political point of view. Using this, I analyzed problems with school library policy and I categorized them. I suggested better solutions for Improving the school library policy.
