  • Lane marking detection is essential to both ITS and DAS systems. The objective of this paper is to provide more robust technique for lane marking detection than traditional techniques by using scale-space technique. Variable thresholding that is based on the local statistics may be very effective for detecting such objects as lane markings that have prominent intensities. However, such techniques that only rely on local statistics have limitations containing irrelevant areas as well. We reduce the candidate areas by combining the variable thresholding result with cost-efficient horizontal 1D LoG filtered scale space. Through experiments using practical images, we could achieve significant improvement over the techniques based not only on the variable thresholding but also on the Hough transform that is another very popular technique for this purpose.

  • This paper proposes a simulation model using an equivalent circuit for the development of an MMC system. The MMC has been chosen as the most suitable topology for high voltage power transmission, such as a voltage-type HVDC, and it has dozens to hundreds of sub-modules in the form of a half-bridge or full-bridge connected in series. A simulation study is essential for the development of an MMC algorithm. On the other hand, it is virtually impossible to construct and implement MMC simulation models, including hundreds or thousands of switching devices. Therefore, this paper presents an MMC equivalent model, which is easily expandable and implemented by modeling the dynamic characteristics. The voltage and current equation of the equivalent circuit was calculated using the direction of the arm current and switching signal. The model was implemented on Matlab/Simulink. In this paper, to show the validity of the model developed using Matlab/Simulink, the simulation results of a five-level MMC using the real switching element and the proposed equivalent model are shown. The validity of the proposed model was verified by showing that the current and voltage waveform in the two models match each other.

  • In a wireless power transmitter, the characteristics and effects of wireless power transmission between two induction coils are investigated, and a power converter circuit and a battery charger/discharger circuit using wireless power transmission technology are proposed. The advantage of wireless power transmitters and wireless chargers is that, instead of the existing plug-in-mounted wired charger (OBC; on-board charger), the user can wirelessly charge the battery without connecting the power source when charging power to the battery. There is. In addition, the advantage of wireless charging can bring about an energy efficiency improvement effect by using the secondary side rectifier circuit and the receiving coil, but the large-capacity long-distance wireless charging method has a limitation on the transmission distance, so many studies are currently being conducted. The purpose of the study is to study the transmitter circuit and receiver circuit of a wireless power transmission device using a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a half bridge series resonance converter, which can transmit power of a non-contact type power transmitter. As a result, a new topology was applied to improve the power transmission distance of the wireless charging system, and through an experiment according to each distance, the maximum efficiency (95.8%) was confirmed at an output of 3 kW at an 8 cm transmission distance.

  • Research into underwater wireless networks that enable the monitoring and controlling of the ocean environments has been continuing for disaster prevention and military proposes, as well as for the exploitation of ocean resources throughout the world. A research group led by Hoseo university has been studying a distributed underwater monitoring and controlling network. In this study, we developed an interpolator for acoustic communication between an underwater base station controller and underwater base station, which is included in this network. The underwater acoustic communication provided by this network defines four links whose sampling rates are different. Low power consumption is one of the most important requirements. Therefore, we adopted CIC interpolators, which are known to act as filters with a low power consumption, and some CIC interpolators with an appropriate changing rate were selected depending on the link. However, these interpolators have a large passband drop and wide transition region. To solve these problems, we added a compensator and half-band filter. After verifying the algorithm by using Matlab, we designed and verified it with Verilog-HDL in a ModelSim environment.

  • In this paper, it is about to non-contact wireless power transmission according to various conditions of self induction principle between the two planar coils at a transmission unit and a receiving unit based on the theory of wireless power transmission. The experiments are occurred in order to power transfer of noncontact method from designed wireless circuits in the primely coil and secondary coil, and the applying to Half Bridge Resonant converter transmission unit and receiving unit. and that were able to prepared circumstance to calculate of the output voltage and power source. The main power of the inductive coupling the resonant converter at the transmission unit is converted electrical energy using the solar cell module and artificial light source (halogen lamp) as a replace light and received 24 V power supply from solar power was used a input power source for the wireless power transmission device. Experimental results, to received of power is used to illuminate the lighting and to charge the battery in receiving circuit. And the wireless power transmission efficiency measured at the output side of the transmission unit is obtained about 70% to 89% compared to input power of receiving unit.In addition, efficiency were tested through ID verification method and comparing the phase difference between the voltage when foreign substances interfere with wireless power transmission.
