The Improvement of Incompatible Sliding Contact Problem Using Mesh Refinement And Its Application to Railway Skewed Culvert Problem (요소 세분화를 이용한 비적합 미끄러지는 접촉문제의 개선과 철도 사각암거 문제에의 적용)

  • The vehicle-track structure dynamic interaction analysis problem can be treated as sliding contact problem, and it is assumed that vehicle run at a constant speed over a rail modeled as beam elements. Unfortunately, Salome-Meca can not satisfy the compatibility condition for the beam master elements, which are consist of the elements with higher order polynomial shape function, in sliding contact problem. In this study, it is suggested to use more finer beam master element mesh as the remedy for incompatibility in sliding contact problem, and the accuracy of the solution is secured. For this, the effect of beam element mesh refinement consisting runway is analysed through simple examples, and the applicability to the dynamic interaction analysis is evaluated. Finally, the dynamic interaction analysis of railway skewed culvert transition problem is carried out to evaluate the effect of supporting stiffness due to backfill pattern changes and track irregularity due to uneven subgrade settlement.

The Study on the Effectiveness of Acupuncture in Stroke Rehabilitation (중풍(中風) 재활(再活)의 침치료(鍼治療) 효과(效果)에 대한 고찰(考察) -최근 RCT(Randomized controlled trial) 논문을 중심으로-)

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to review clinical trials on the effectiveness of acupuncture in stroke rehabilitation. Methods : Computerized literature searches was carried out on three electronic databases, and hand-searching on some chinese medical journals in library of Kyung Hee Medical Center. Results : 1) Sixteen articles of clinical trials were collected and reviewed. Among these articles, randomized controlled trials were achieved in nine articles. 2) In three articles, statically significant results in improvement of mobile abilities, activities of daily life and Quality of life were reported after acupuncture treatment applied as a part of stroke rehabilitation. In three articles no statically significant changes were reported. 3) Among two articles about spasticity, One about the upper limbs and the results showed statically significant improvement of the spasticity after acupuncture treatment as stroke rehabilitation, and the other was about the lower limbs and the results showed no statically significant changes. 4) One article about acupuncture and postural control showed statically significant results suggesting that acupuncture promotes normalization of postural control after stroke.

Simulation and Experimental Investigation of Reverse Drawing Process for Manufacture of High-Capacity Aluminum Liner (대용량 알루미늄 라이너의 성형을 위한 역 드로잉 공정 해석 및 실험)

  • In this work, finite element investigations were carried out to optimize reverse drawing process design for manufacture of high-capacity aluminum liner used in fuel cell vehicle. The tensile tests with aluminum alloy Al6061 annealed at $350^{\circ}C$ were carried out to obtain the flow stresses. In order to estimate more accurate flow stresses after necking, the flow stresses were estimated from the comparison of load vs. displacement curves which were obtained from experimental and simulation results of tensile tests. In case of finite element analyses of reverse drawing processes, it was focused on the effects of process designs such as punch and die designs, blank holding force, drawing ratio and the clearance between the punch and blank holder on the generation of wrinkle and fracture of the blank and partially heated punch. However, it was revealed that experimental results still show the fracture at the end of 2nd drawn cup, although partially heated punch is used. Nevertheless, the drawn cup can be used because the sufficient length of the drawn cup for the next flow forming process and spinning process was obtained.

Effect of Demand Spectrums on the Accuracy of Capacity Spectrum Method (요구곡선 산정방법에 따른 능력스펙트럼법의 유효성 평가 및 비교)

  • While transforming the inelastic system into the equivalent elastic one gives an advantage of simpler analysis, the actual inelastic behavior of the system is hardly modeled in the capacity spectrum method (CSM). Therefore, the accuracy of CSM depends on the precise estimation of equivalent period and damping ratio as well as the modification of the elastic response spectrum and the corresponding demand spectrum. In this paper, the effect of demand spectrums on the accuracy of CSM is evaluated. First, the response reduction factors provided in ATC-40 and Euro Code are evaluated. Numerical analysis results indicated that the acceleration responses obtained using the factor of Euro Code are closer to the actual response than those obtained using the factors of ATC-40. Next, the accuracy of CSM is evaluated constructing the demand spectrum using the absolute acceleration responses and pseudo acceleration responses. The results obtained using the absolute acceleration responses were found to be generally larger than those obtained using the pseudo ones. Since CSM often underestimates the response, the use of absolute acceleration response gives the response relatively closer to the exact ones. However, the difference becomes negligible as the hardening ratio and the yield strength ratio become larger.

Back Analysis Technique for the Estimation of Tension Force on Hanger Cables (역해석기법을 이용한 행어케이블의 장력 추정)

  • In general, the tension forces of hanger cable in suspension bridges play an important role in evaluating the bridge conditions. The vibration method, as a conventional one, has been widely applied to estimate the tension forces by using the measured frequencies on hanger cables. However, the vibration method is not applicable to short hanger cables because the fiequencies of short cables are severely sensitive to flexural rigidity. Thus, in this study, the tension forces of short hanger cables, of which the length is shorter than 10 meters, were estimated through back analysis of the cable fiequencies measured from Gwang-An suspension bridge in Korea. Direct approach to back analysis is adopted using the univariate method among the direct search methods as an optimization technique. The univariate method is able to search the optimal tension forces without regard to the initial ones and has a rapid convergence rate. To verify the feasibility of back analysis, the results from back analysis and vibration method are compared with the design tension forces. From the comparison, it can be inferred that back analysis results are more reasonable agreement with the design tension forces of short hanger cable. Therefore, it is concluded that back analysis applied in this study is an appropriate tool for estimating tension forces of short hanger cables.

  • Sensitive and specific monoclonal antibody (MAb) was produced from hybridoma (1H11-5) obtained by fusion of myeloma cell (V653) and spleen cell isolated from mouse immunized sulfamthazine (SMZ)-HG-KLH. Direct competitive ELISA was developed for rapid detection of SMZ in milk samples using MAb against SMZ with optimized conditions between MAb and SMZ-HG-HRP conjugate, and applicable conditions for analysis of milk samples were established. Detection range of immunoassay was 0.1 to 100 ppb. Recoveries from spiked raw milk and processed milk samples averaged 82.1-120.7 and 82.1-97.1%, respectively.

An Experimental Study of Flexible-Stiff Mixed System of High Yield Ratio-High Strength Steel for the Practical Use (고항복비-고강도강의 유강혼합구조 시스템 적용에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper summarizes the test results of the flexible-stiff mixed system for the effective use of high-strength steel. Steel with a high degree of strength and performance is being increasingly required as buildings get larger and taller. High-strength steels cannot be used for many applications, though, because they have a number of defects. For instance, they have a high yield ratio, a small strain in maximum stress, and equal Young's modulus compared to mild steels. A new structural system is needed to effectively use high-strength steels with some defects. This paper proposes the flexible-stiff mixed system for the effective use of high-strength steels with high yield ratios. The possibility of using the system is discussed through the test of flexible-stiff mixed columns with high-strength steels. The main variable of the specimens is the yield displacement ratio, including both the force ratio and the stiffness ratio. The proper yield displacement ratio is proposed by adopting the flexible-stiff mixed system. The test results showed that the proposed flexible-stiff mixed system has a high capacity for energy absorption and the highest capacity for energy absorption when the yield displacement ratio of the flexible element to the stiff element ranges from 2.7 to 3.3.

  • 국내에서는 1999년부터 국가수자원관리종합정보시스템(WAMIS) 구축 및 운영을 통해 물관리정보화사업을 추진하고 있으며 기초정보분석 중심에서 수자원 계획 수립과 정책 결정을 지원할 수 있는 시스템으로 확대하여 대국민 수자원 정보 제공과 홍보를 활성화하려고 노력하고 있다. 하지만 지금까지 국내에서는 수자원 현황을 평가하기 위해 상수도보급율, 하천개수율 등을 이용하여 수자원의 단편적인 분야만을 평가하여 왔으며 이들 개별지표들만으로 국내 수자원 상황에 대해 국민들이 체감하는데 한계가 있어 이들 사업의 성과를 지수화하여 수자원 정책과 사업의 효과를 국민들에게 적극적으로 홍보할 필요가 있다. 이를 지원하기 위해 2007년부터 2009년까지 수자원 각 분야별 수자원계획수립 업무지원체계를 구축하였으며 수자원 현황 평가를 위해 분야별 평가지수를 개발하고 수자원 통합지수를 선정하여 중권역별로 산정한 바 있다(건설교통부, 2007; 국토해양부, 2008, 2009). 보다 합리적인 수자원 평가를 위해서는 분야별(물이용, 치수, 하천환경) 평가 지수의 공간적 범위 확대 및 세부지표를 추가 고려함으로써 과거에서부터 현재까지의 분야별 변화 패턴을 파악해야 한다. 이를 통해 수자원 관련 정책 및 사업의 성과를 평가하고 구축된 기초자료 및 분석정보를 제공해 줄 수 있는 도구의 개발이 무엇보다 중요하다고 하겠다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기 개발된 분야별 평가지수 산정 결과와 분야별 현황과의 비교 분석을 통해 지수의 현장 적용성을 검토함으로써 기 개발된 지표의 취약점 및 한계점을 제시하였다. 보다 합리적이고 타당한 분야별 평가를 위해 세부지표를 추가로 선정하였으며 선정된 분야별 세부지표를 PSR 구성체계에 맞추어 구성하였다. 또한 분야별 현황 및 특성을 평가할 수 있는 분야별 평가지수를 개발하였으며 물이용 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '물이용안전성지수', 치수 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '홍수안전성지수', 하천환경 특성을 평가할 수 있는 지수를 '하천환경건강성지수'라 명명하였다. 또한 분야별 평가지수를 통합하여 수자원 현황을 평가하고 관리할 수 있는 수자원 통합지수인 '물만족지수'를 개발하여 제시하였다. 분야별 평가지수를 구성하는 각 세부지표의 특성을 파악하여 지표 산정 범위를 점, 선, 면으로 확대하여 제시하였으며 세분화된 공간단위별로 기초자료를 조사, 수집하여 시계열 DB를 구축하였다. 개발된 분야별 평가지수 및 물만족지수를 연도별 표준유역별로 구축된 DB를 이용하여 산정하고 비교 분석하였으며 상대적인 분야별 안전성 및 건강성을 평가하여 지수의 적용성을 검토하였다. 지표 관련 기초자료 및 분석을 통해 생성된 정보자료는 수자원정책 수립과정에서 매우 유용한 정보를 제공해 줌으로써 정책결정을 지원할 수 있고, 일반인과 관련 전문가들에게 수자원 관련 다양한 정보를 제공할 수 있다.

Hangeul detection method based on histogram and character structure in natural image (다양한 배경에서 히스토그램과 한글의 구조적 특징을 이용한 문자 검출 방법)

  • In this paper, we proposed a Hangeul detection method using structural features of histogram, consonant, and vowel to solve the problem of Hangul which is separated and detected consonant and vowel The proposed method removes background by using DoG (Difference of Gaussian) to remove unnecessary noise in Hangul detection process. In the image with the background removed, we converted it to a binarized image using a cumulative histogram. Then, the horizontal position histogram was used to find the position of the character string, and character combination was performed using the vertical histogram in the found character image. However, words with a consonant vowel such as '가', '라' and '귀' are combined using a structural characteristic of characters because they are difficult to combine into one character. In this experiment, an image composed of alphabets with various backgrounds, an image composed of Korean characters, and an image mixed with alphabets and Hangul were tested. The detection rate of the proposed method is about 2% lower than that of the K-means and MSER character detection method, but it is about 5% higher than that of the character detection method including Hangul.

Development and Application of Middle School Students Maker Education Program using Arduino based on Design Thinking (아두이노를 활용한 디자인씽킹 기반의 중학생 메이커 교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a Design Thinking-based Maker education program utilizing Arduino for middle school students. The study progress was made in four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model. In this study, experts were verified for validity and pre-applied to students to improve the maker education program developed based on literature review. Then, it was applied to middle school club classes to check the effects through analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. In addition, the development of the program was completed by supplementing the improvements found in the course. The results of this study are as follows. First, the topics of the maker education program that can be used in middle schools were selected in consideration of the analysis of the 2015 revised curriculum, methods to using the Arduino, and social interest. Second, the program developed based on the selected topic consists of 4 classes of maker basic learning and 16 classes of design thinking-based maker activities. Third, the developed maker education program had a significant effect in improving STEAM literacy of middle school students, but did not have any significant effect in the interest in technology and orientation towards an engineering career. Fourth, learners were interested in the activities of designing and freely making by themselves, and they positively evaluated the experience of realizing the physical computing with Arduino. In addition, they practiced the spirit of a maker, such as autonomously collecting data and sharing them with colleagues, etc. while acting as a maker.
