The grid-connected bidirectional PCS technology of the ESS (에너지 저장장치의 계통 연계형 양방향 PCS 기술)

  • Grid-connected bidirectional PCS(Power Conditioning System) technology is a technology for implementing distributed renewable energy smart grid. And it is always charged by using power collected from solar modules and commercial grid power among vast smart grid systems, and stored when needed.It is a hybrid energy storage device that allows power to be released into the low voltage system. To this end, a PV input power converter with MPPT function, a bidirectional power converter for battery charging and discharging, and a DC Link input are output to a 3 phase 380V AC system, and if nessary, the bidirectional DC/DC converter We designed and developed a PCS with three power converter structures composed of inverters that perform battery charging. Currently, this system is applied to the site of Jeju, which is vulnerable to power outages and fire accidents.

  • In order to drive a hybrid propulsion device which combines an engine and an electric propulsion unit, battery packs that contain dozens of unit cells consisting of a lithium-based battery are used to maintain the power source. Therefore, it is necessary to more strictly manage a number of battery cells at any given time. In order to manage battery cells, generally voltage, current, and temperature data under load condition are monitored from a personal computer. Other important elements required to analyze the condition of the battery are the internal resistances that are used to judge its state-of-health (SOH) and the open-circuit voltage (OCV) that is used to check the battery charging state. However, in principle, the internal resistances cannot be measured during operation because the parallel equivalent circuit is composed of internal loss resistances and capacitance. In most energy storage systems, battery management system (BMS) operations are carried out by using data such as voltage, current, and temperature. However, during operation, in the case of unexpected battery cell failure, the output voltage of the power supply can be changed and propulsion of the hybrid vehicle and vessel can be difficult. This paper covers the implementation of a high safety battery management system (HSBMS) that can estimate the OCV while the device is being driven. If a battery cell fails unexpectedly, a DC power supply with lithium iron phosphate can keep providing the load with a constant output voltage using the remainder of the batteries, and it is also possible to estimate the internal resistance.

  • A series-hybrid power system was designed for quad-tilt prop UAV and the characteristics was analysed. The power system consists of a 4.5kW rotary engine-generator and a li-battery as power sources, a power controller manages the overall power and supplies to the vehicle system. The output power of the engine is to be matched with the generator performance considering mechanical driving loss and generating efficiency, and also loss for charging and discharging of the battery energy. It is applied that the constant speed operation of the engine-generator to minimize overall fuel consumption by integrating the generating power and the battery energy, consequentially the battery capacity and characteristics could be important factors for improvement of the system efficiency.

  • 본 논문은 에너지 저장시스템(ESS)과 무정전 전원장치(UPS)를 하나로 통합한 새로운 하이브리드 ESS-UPS 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 ESS와 UPS를 하나로 통합함으로써 전력변환 시스템(PCS)의 가격을 줄이고 배터리의 이용률을 높일 수 있다. 또한 기존의 on-line UPS와는 달리 두 종류의 중요부하를 구성할 수 있어 PCS의 용량대비 비상발전 용량을 증대시키는 것이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 하이브리드 ESS-UPS 시스템의 운영 전략 및 급속 모드전환 알고리즘을 제안하며, 5kW급 축소 시작품을 통한 실험 결과로 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • This study is the central axis of the MG (Micro-Grid) configuration and it has the link through the modular hybrid power source and the DC bus, and it provides the function to detect and block the illegal connection by using the standard socket, And to achieve stabilization. Development of power conversion device, smart distribution panel, integrated control system and efficient demand management are required, and compatibility with MG whole system is urgent. This is a hybrid power generation system that is safe with a common power connection protocol and can be easily connected to anyone. This makes it easy to manage data and prepare for expansion of various manufacturers' systems.

  • 본 연구에서는 실증기능 구현을 위해 75KW로 설계된 리튬-폴리머배터리(Lithium Polymer Battery 이하 배터리)와 ESS(Energy Storage System) 내장형 Hybrid-PCS(이하 PCS)을 이용하여 불균일한 풍력 발전원에 대한 Smoothing 제어 및 정출력 제어 대한 연구를 진행 하였다. 잦은 전류 변동으로 인해 발생되는 출력 변동의 안정화를 위해 인버터 전류제어, 벅/부스트 전압제어 기법을 사용하였다. 최적의 Smoothing 제어를 위한 필터 계수 값을 찾기 위한 시험을 진행 하였으며 Energy shift을 위한 정출력 시험도 진행 하였다. 또한 각 제어 모드에서 ESS 중요 파라미터인 SOC(State Of Charge 이하 SOC)변화를 배터리 특성과 관련하여 분석해 보았다.

  • To reduce the hydrogen production cost through the utilizing the oxygen and improving the capacity factor of water electrolysis used to energy storage of renewable energy, the hybrid hydrogen production process which has dual operating concept of using the water electrolysis as energy storage and oxygen production process for biomass gasification was proposed. Moreover, Techno-economic analysis on this system was quantitatively performed.

  • Recently, high-cost energy storage systems are applying to hybrid generation systems with wind turbine and diesel generator in island areas for stable operation. But, this paper proposes an operating algorithm and modeling method of an islanding microgrid that is composed of PMSG(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) and Diesel Generator applied in island areas without such energy storage system. Initially, the operating algorithm was proposed for frequency and voltage to be maintained within the proper ranges for the load and weather change. And then the modeling method were proposed for PMSG, WT-side AC/DC converter and Grid-side DC/AC converter. The proposed operating algorithm and modeling method were applied to a typical islanded microgrid with PMSG wind turbine and diesel generator. The frequency and voltage was kept within the permissible ranges and the proposed method was proven to be appropriate through simulations.

  • As IMO environmental regulations are tightened, the need to establish a system that can reduce emissions is increasing, and for this purpose, various power control management systems have been studied and implemented as a new energy management system for ships. In this study, we design a control process through modeling for Bi-Directional Converter (BDC) application with bi-directional power flow to link batteries, which are energy storage devices, to conventional generator power systems, and propose mechanisms for batteries optimized for varying loads. This work models MATLAB/Simulink as a BDC and simulates current control and state of charge (SOC) optimization at the time of charging and discharging batteries according to load scenarios. Through this, the battery, power, and load were interlocked so that the generator operated on board could be operated in the optimal operation range, and power control management was performed to enable the generator to operate in the high fuel efficiency range.

  • 본 논문은 태양광과 풍력, 축전지 시스템으로 구성된 계통연계형 복합 분산전원 시스템의 구성과 실험 결과를 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제시하고자하는 계통연계형 태양광-풍력-축전지 복합 분산전원 시스템은 태양광 발전 시스템과 풍력 발전 시스템을 에너지원으로 사용하였으며 에너지 저장장치로는 축전지 시스템을 사용하였다. 태앙광 발전 시스템과 풍력 발전 시스템, 축전지 시스템은 모두 공통 직류단에 연결되어 있으며 계통과 연계운전을 위한 계통연계 인버터 시스템을 공통 직류단과 계통 연계점 사이에 적용하여 연계점의 출력을 제어하였다. 또한 분산전원 통합제어 시스템을 개발하여 전체 복합 분산전원 시스템의 출력과 각 모듈의 상태를 감시, 제어하는 기능을 하도록 하였다. 개발된 복합 분산전원 시스템에 전력 평준화 알고리즘을 적용한 실험 결과의 제시를 통해 제작된 시스템과 전력 평준화 알고리즘의 유용성을 검증하였다. 본 논문에서 제시된 복합 분산전원 시스템은 복수의 에너지원을 이용하므로 전력공급의 신뢰도를 향상시킬 수 있어 상용전력이 공급되지 않는 도서지역 등에 단독 운전용으로 적용이 가능하다.
