  • A hydraulic breaker is an attachment installed at the end of excavator arm and is used for breaking. As per the authors' knowledge, there have been no research results on reducing the weight of the hydraulic breaker even though this weight reduction is very important for improving the performance of the excavator. In this study, we minimize the weight of the housing of the hydraulic breaker under normal operating conditions, while the maximum stress of the housing is lower than the allowable stress. A meta-model, which is generated by using the CAE results for the sampling design points determined by an orthogonal array, is used to solve the minimization problem. The weight of the housing according to the optimal design is found to be lower than the original weight by 4.8% while satisfying the constraint on the maximum stress.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide information needed to the construction of the co-housing in the urban area. This study focused on the characteristics of co-housing in its planning process of private house & common space; 'economy', 'creativity' & 'sociality'. The object of this study is co-housing in 'Seongmi-san Village' in Seoul, which was built by a coordination company with residents' participation. The methods are investigating interview materials, floor plans of 9 households, & common space plans produced in the coordination process from the basic plan of private house & common space to the final plan. The results are as follows. 1) The size and plan of private house differed from each other. The water pipe location differed from each floor, so that there were difficulties in construction. In conclusion, these made no 'economy', but brought high 'creativity'. 2) The 'sociality' would be estimated as high because there were various types of resident participation; resident interviews on the planning, workshops for private housing plan, and workshops for common space.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider the community design applications in the senior collective housing in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It was performed by two programs, application program and space design program. The former is focused on the participation of residents to the planing and design process, sharing, community activity, social interaction, and management by residents. The latter is focused on the common space(room) design. It was also performed by literature review, observation, and interview. The findings for the community design as an application program in SCH are almost the same with those in CH. But, the level of common meal and common laundry in SCH is lower than that of CH. And space design program is focused on the location and scale of common space(room) which is related to the number of users. As a result, the positive possibilities of SCH as a new residential type for the self-reliant seniors can be confirmed. The difference of community design application between CH and SCH is caused by various factors such as senior's health conditions, economic factors, and Japanese life style.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify difference in motivation of move to senior cohousing communities in Sweden during 10 years between the year of 2001 and 2010 by a longitudinal study. Questionnaire survey was used for the study. 313 data were collected from 12 senior cohousing communities, which were established by residents-initiated process. It includes 8 of Senior g${\aa}$rden cohousings in 2001 and 4 of +40 cohousings in 2010 nationwide in Sweden. The result indicates that there are significant differences in motivation of move to senior cohousing between 2001 and 2010. Comparing motivation of move to senior cohousing during 10 years, respondents of 2010 focus more on social merits than practical merits of cohousing as they move to cohousing communities. They stress more to the reasons as good contacts with neighbors, mutual supports, sharing common activities and getting rid of loneliness rather than burden of housing and garden management, and universal-designed house. The result of this study reveals motivation of move to senior cohousing has been changed during 10 years in Sweden.

  • It is necessary for us to research and analyze of Open Housing in order to change new housing system, because exiting multi family housing is lack of flexibility and easy remodeling. The purpose of this study is to supply and grasp basic planning and design data for flexibility of Open Housings in Korea. This study is based on the literature survey and actual investigation through visiting 17 open housing sites from 1995 to 2005 in Netherlands, Finland and Japan, which are main Open Housing. We analyzed the planning methods and elements for flexibility of open housing block and unit plan, and described the contents of analyses. We found a lot of planning and design methods-supplying option plan and user participation before occupation, various structural system for openness, common piping shaft location, slab-down and applying access flooring system, movable and demountable partition wall system etc. -applied to the open housings, and findings are applicable to the planning and designing works of apartment housings in Korea.

  • Much of the interest in ocean radiation detection has been heightened as a lot of radioactivity has leaked to the ocean due to the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. In the study, MCNP simulation for radiation detection in the ocean was performed. Unlike in the air, the marine environment must ensure the stability of the sensor from water depth, temperature, pressure, and salinity. In the marine environment, too much radiation is shielded. Therefore, it is an object to select a housing with a low radiation shielding ratio.

  • Manufactured thermoplastic composite materials to replace the metal materials used as battery housing materials for electric vehicles with lightweight materials. As the matrix material, nylon 6 which is a polymer material was used. Boron Nitrate(BN), which has high thermal conductivity, was used to provide heat dissipation performance. The heat dissipation characteristics of the thermally conductive polymer composite material according to the BN content and particle size were analyzed. The thermal conductivity value increased as the filler content increased, and composite materials particle size of 60 to 70㎛ and BN content of 50%, the thermal conductivity was 1.4 W/mK. The larger the particle size, the wider the inter-particle interface contact surface, which means that a thermal path was formed. wider the interfacial contact surface between the particles, and the thermal path was formed. A battery housing was manufactured using the manufactured thermally conductive polymer composite material, and the temperature change during charging and discharging of the cell was observed, and the possibility as a substitute material for the battery housing was confirmed.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the teaching-learning process plan of senior cohousing to improve understanding of active and independent living in later life through Home Economics subject. The plan consisting of 5 lessons has been developed and implemented according to the ADDIE model. Various activity materials (28 individual activity sheets, 2 working sheets, and 26 teacher's reading texts) and visual materials (4 sets of pictures & photos and 10 moving pictures) as well as questionnaire were developed for the 5-session lessons. The plans were implemented to 6 classes 150 freshmen of P high school in Jeju-do during August 17th to 3rd of September, 2015. Students were highly satisfied regardless of gender with the whole 5-lessons in the aspects such as the level of participation in the lesson, understanding of the contents, adequacy of materials and activities, and usage in their future life. Students also reported that they highly accomplished the goal of each lesson to reinforce the understanding on necessity of preparing later life, senior cohousing, and senior friendly business. It can be concluded that the teaching learning process plan for senior cohousing would improve understanding and practical competency of active and independent living in later life with senior neighbors through the home economics subject.
