Correlation between Pediatric Balance Scale and Gait Parameter in Children with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy (경직성 양하지 뇌성마비 아동의 소아균형검사와 보행변수 간의 상관관계)

  • The Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) was balance measurement equipment for school-age children with mild to moderate motor impairments. The aims of this study are to examine the correlation between PBS and spatiotemporal gait parameter and to identify the walking function with cerebral palsy through balance scale. The PBS consists of 14 items such as sitting of standing, standing to sitting, transfers, standing unsupported, standing on one foot, turning 360 degrees, turing to look behind, etc., and the spatiotemporal parameters include walking speed, stride length, step length, step width, cadence, double-limb support. All subjects were independently ambulatory children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, and they were assessed on PBS and spatiotemporal gait parameters by an experienced pediatric physical therapist. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to assess the correlation between PBS and spatiotemporal gait parameters, and the level of significance was set at ${\alpha}$ = 0.05. Total score of PBS(r=.49~.58), standing to sitting(r=.48~.60), turning to look behind(r=.47~.53), and pick up object(r=.52~.69) were positively correlated with walking speed, stride length, step length, and cadence. Most items of the PBS were negatively correlated with double-limb support(r=-.48~-.92). These findings suggest that the pediatric balance scale can be applied to estimate gait function level for children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.

The Relationship between Sensory Processing Feature, Leisure Participation Type, Perception of Occupational Participation and Quality of Life for University Students' Life Care (대학생의 라이프케어를 위한 감각처리특성과 여가참여유형, 작업참여인식 및 삶의 질과의 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between sensory processing feature, leisure participation type, perception of occupational participation, and quality of life (QoL) for life care in university students. The survey was conducted from February 2019 to March for 169 university students. The author used the Adolescent / Adult Sensory Profiles (AASP) for sensory processing, and used the leisure activity questionnaire to find out the type of leisure participation, and used the Occupational Self Assessment (OSA) for perception of occupational participation, and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) for QoL. Pearson correlation analysis was used for the relationship between sensory processing feature, leisure participation type, perception of occupational participation, and QoL. Among the sensory processing feature, there was a positive correlation between low registration and sports. And there was a positive correlation between sensory seeking and sports, social activities, tourism. There was a negative correlation between perception of occupational participation and low registration, sensory sensitivity, sensory avoiding. Hobbies, appreciativeness and social activities showed a significant positive correlation with perception of occupational participation. And also there was a positive correlation between perception of occupational participation and QoL (p <.05, p <.01). Sensory processing feature correlated with leisure participation type, occupational participation perception, and QoL. Future research should develop evaluation tool for leisure activities, occupational participation and QoL based on sensory processing.

Effect of Self-efficacy, Interpersonal Relationship Ability and Perceived Stress toward Resilience in Humanities and Social Sciences Undergraduate Students (인문사회계열 대학생의 자기효능감, 대인관계능력, 스트레스가 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향)

  • The study was to examine the effect that perceived stress, self-efficacy, Interpersonal relationship ability affect resilience of Humanities and Social Sciences undergraduate students. Population of this study were 330 students in B city. Data were analyzed by a real number, percentage, Mean, SD, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, logistic regression analyzation using SPSS 22.0. Resilience mean of population was 3.34±0.45. Resiilence of population had a positive correlation with self-efficacy(r=.521, p<.001), Interpersonal relationship ability(r=.678, p<.001) and had a negative correlation with perceived stress(r=.234, p<.001). The factors affected to resilience of population were self-efficacy(β=.280, p<.001), Interpersonal relationship ability(β=.394, p<.001), prceived stress((β=-.191, p<.001), R2 was 53.3%. This results indicated the factors that affect resilience of Humanities and Social Sciences undergraduate students.

Influence of Emotional Intelligence and Ego Resilience on Interpersonal Relationship of Nurses (간호사의 감성지능과 자아탄력성이 대인관계능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of emotional intelligence and ego-resilience on interpersonal relationship of nurses. Subjects were 206 nurses in Korea. Data were collected from September 5 to September 20, 2013. Data were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS Win 18.0. Interpersonal relationship strong positively correlated with emotional intelligence (r=.600, p<.001) and ego-resilience (r=.421, p<.001) in nurses, emotional intelligence and ego-resilience explained 41.6% of total variance of interpersonal relationship of nurse. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement program for improving emotional intelligence and ego-resilience of nurses.

Effect of Academic Stress, Department Satisfaction and Interpersonal Relationship Satisfaction on Academic Achivement in Female Nursing students (간호여학생의 학업스트레스, 학과만족도, 대인관계 만족도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of academic stress, department satisfaction, interpersonal relationship satisfaction of academic achievement in female nursing students. Data were collected from 159 female nursing students in B city and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0. The degree of academic achievement in female nursing students was 3.74±0.84. There were significant differences in academic achievement with career plan (t=2.672, p=.008), There was negative correlation between academic achievement and academic stress (r=-.371, p<.001), positive correlation between academic achievement and department satisfaction (r=.472, p<.001), interpersonal relationship satisfaction (r=.301, p<.001). The factors affecting academic achievement of the study subjects were academic stress (β=-.262, p<.001), department satisfaction (β=.403, p<.001), with an explanatory power of 26.3%. Through the result of this study, it is necessary to development various program that can improve academic achievement in female nursing students.

  • Although there exist numerous measures of association, most of them are lacking in generality in that they do not intend to measure the association between heterogeneous type of random variables. On the other hand, many statistical analyzes dealing with complex data sets require a very sophisticate measure of association. In this note, the p-value of independence tests is utilized to obtain a measure of association. The proposed measure of association have some consistency in measuring association between various types of random variables.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between visual analogue scale(VAS) of the waist and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and the muscle strength of the waist for male field hockey athletes. The VAS and ODI were conducted by self-written evaluation, and muscle strength was measured by using DAVID. Pearson correlation was used for data analysis, and the statistical significance level was set to α = .05. The VAS of the waist of male field hockey athletes and the ODI were statistically significant. However, other VAS and the ODI did not correlate to the strength of the lower back. Therefore, there is a need to develop a new exercise program for the rather than strength training during the waist rehabilitation exercise. It is thought that these studies will serve as basic data useful for the development of treatment and exercise programs for athletes in the future.

Differences in Smartphone Addiction and Communcation Ability according to Emotional Intelligence in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 감성지능 수준에 따른 스마트폰 중독과 의사소통능력의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify differences in Smartphone adiction and communcation ablity according to the degree of emotional intelligence in nursing students. Subjects were 228 associate nursing students from the population that atttend 2 university in B and C city. The data were collected using self-report questionnaire from November 28 to December 16, 2016. Data were analyzed by frequencies, Independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation using SPSS Win 23.0. Emotional intelligence level were no significantly correlation with smartphone adiction. But the subscales of emotional intelligence(use of emotionals and regulator of emotionals) were a negative correlation smartphone addiction in nursing students. The higher the level of use of emotionals and regulator of emotionals, the lower the smartphone adiction. Emotional intelligence level were positive correlation with communcation ablity in nursing students. The higher the level of emotional intelligence, the higher the communication ability. Therefore, To reduce smartphone adiction and to increase communcation ablity of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and test the program for increase emotional intelligence level of nursing students.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was identify the correlation of sensory processing type, academic ability and self-esteem in the college students. Methods : Duration of research was Act. 3rd, 2010 ~ Apr. 1st, 2011 and participants were 84 college students in Kyeong Nam. Method for study was the questionnaires investigation that included in AASP, self-esteem scale and grade. Data were statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The correlation of various elements and core principles were analyzed using Pearson correlation. Results : Sensory avoiding (r=-.25), sensory sensitivity (r=-.22), sensory low registration (r=-.31) of sensory processing were correlation with self-esteem. sensory seeking (r=.22) of sensory processing correlation was correlation with academic ability. Conclusion : The results of this study emphasized that sensory processing ability is correlation with self-esteem and academic ability in the child as well as adult.
