Altemative Instructional Methods and Strategies for Effective Computer Programming Education (컴퓨터 프로그래밍 교육에 적용 가능한 효과적 교수방법의 탐색적 대안)

  • For teaching-learning activities to be effective, the teaching methods need to reflect the contents of instructional materials and the characteristics of the learners. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effective ways of teaching computer programming languages. The main components of teaching computer programming languages might be the characteristics of the language itself, the function of design, and general problem-solving capacity. But the analysis of the Quality and environments of learners is much more important. To improve the Quality of teaching computer programming languages, the structured syllabus needs to be provided and a variety of teaching methods such as project-based approach, problem-based approach, cooperative learning, peer tutoring and case study should be applied selectively, depending upon the instructional situations. In addition, procedural and constructive evaluation process needs to be developed to monitor each stage of learning and to give the guidelines of completing the course projects.

  • Recently, reflection as a way of reducing the learners' cognitive burden in the programming learning process has been studied. In the present study, we examined the effects of reflection using worksheets to measure elementary students' project performance. The results of the study are that learners who have more reflective time over their learning process are performed creatively and diversely their project work. This study is significant in that it provides more learning opportunities for elementary students by reflection rather than by trial-and-error in programming learning.

  • Due to the computer developments and the expansion of data communications, many changes are done to educational environments in addition to the changes of the various social areas. In this paper, a learning system is developed, which adapts itself by checking the changing factors of the learner. The educator works as a overall project manager in this project learning system and the learner benefits from the user-oriented comparative study and pattern design performed in the domains of the internet and intranet.

Bayesian Optimization Framework for Improved Cross-Version Defect Prediction (향상된 교차 버전 결함 예측을 위한 베이지안 최적화 프레임워크)

  • In recent software defect prediction research, defect prediction between cross projects and cross-version projects are actively studied. Cross-version defect prediction studies assume WP(Within-Project) so far. However, in the CV(Cross-Version) environment, the previous work does not consider the distribution difference between project versions is important. In this study, we propose an automated Bayesian optimization framework that considers distribution differences between different versions. Through this, it automatically selects whether to perform transfer learning according to the difference in distribution. This framework is a technique that optimizes the distribution difference between versions, transfer learning, and hyper-parameters of the classifier. We confirmed that the method of automatically selecting whether to perform transfer learning based on the distribution difference is effective through experiments. Moreover, we can see that using our optimization framework is effective in improving performance and, as a result, can reduce software inspection effort. This is expected to support practical quality assurance activities for new version projects in a cross-version project environment.

  • This paper presents an approach for assuring course completion structure of the project courses by the requirements of KCC2010 engineering criteria. The proposed approach describes the way that courses of project are completed in a systematic using the gate model that is given the opportunity to take next project course by the course outcomes of project course taken. Results of assessments on 'Software Project I' course shows that it is important to protect the withdrawal of student who undergo retraining by efforts of professor course responsible to assure course completion structure of the project courses.

The Development of Project-Based instructional Model for Promoting the creative convergent Competency (창의융합역량향상을 위한 프로젝트 수업 모형개발)

  • As increasing the emphasis of competence-based learning, Project-base instruction is adopted more with frequency at the educational field. This study focuses on developing the methodology of project-based instructional system. The first one is to manage the project independently not to link with any module. The second one is to link a project to a module. And the third one is to link a project to the more than two major modules. Also It suggests the tool for project based instruction. Before & after class conducting the inspection for increasing satisfaction of instruction by the systematic management and improvement, the project base instruction shows the positive effect to promote the creative personality and problem solving ability. The contentment of the class increases 7% more at the 2nd year than the 1st. As a result, it can derive the evaluation of the pupils' higher achievement rate.

Influence of Project-Based Learning in LIS on Self-Directed Learning and Problem Solving Ability (문헌정보학의 프로젝트기반 학습이 자기주도적 학습과 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the influence of project-based learning method on the self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities of students taking the 'Media Center Management' course in Library Information Science (LIS). During this study, two tests measuring students' self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities were conducted, containing 48 items divided into 8 categories and 30 items divided into 5 steps of problem-solving processes, respectively. By utilizing the correspondence sample T-test during this study, statistically significant results were found in all categories of self-directed learning, excluding the 'self-understanding' category. In addition, significant differences were found in the 5 steps problem-solving processes as well. Subsequently, an in-depth interview was conducted, inquiring into the students' perspectives on the difficulty of attending classes, the content of lectures, the appropriateness of assignments, the validity of the evaluation method, the relationship with their team members, and the benefits acquired from completing the assignments. Finally, suggestions for future research were presented.

  • PMO(Project Management Office)는 프로젝트 수행을 일관성 있게 관리하는 조직으로 프로젝트의 효율성을 극대화하고자 수행 초기부터 전체적인 일정을 계획하고 관리하며, 프로젝트의 성공적 수행을 도모한다. 본 논문에서는 실제 IT 프로젝트를 수행한 사람들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 첫째, 프로젝트 성과에 영향을 주는 PMO의 핵심 기능을 5가지로 정의하고 둘째, PMO가 조직의 성과에 기여하는 영역을 경쟁가치모형1)을 이용하여 4가지 모델로 분류하였다. 셋째, 프로젝트 성과에 영향을 미치는 PMO 기능을 통계적으로 분석하여 도출하였다. 연구결과로 한국은 PMO 기능 중에 프로젝트를 통해 알게 된 교훈이나 지식을 관리하는 학습영역은 조직의 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있지만 프로젝트에 대한 통제 및 보고, 표준화 된 관리 방법론은 성과에 기여하지 못하고 있음을 확인하였다. 향후 본 연구를 통해 PMO가 조직에서 성공적으로 도입되기 위해서 수행해야 할 주요 역할을 명확히 함으로서 프로젝트 관리 수준을 향상시키고 프로젝트 수행에 PMO를 효과적으로 활용하고자 한다.

  • 프로그래밍 교육은 학습자 개인의 측면에서 논리적 사고력과 문제해결력 같은 고등인지기술을 향상시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 국가적인 측면에서 S/W개발 선진국으로 도약할 수 있는 교육적 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 중요한 의의를 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 교사들이 초등학교 학생들에게 프로그래밍 교육을 할 때에, 프로젝트를 기반으로 하여 적절한 프로그래밍 교육을 할 수 있는 학습 모형을 개발하고 실제 현장에서 적용하여 효과를 검증하는 데 연구의 목적이 있다. 즉 교육현장에서 초등학교 학생들에게 적용할 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 방법적인 모형을 제안하여 교육방법 개선에 기여하고자 한다.

The Effects of Thesis-writing Activity based Project method on the Ability of Girl's Middle School Student's Self Directed Learning and Learning Attitude (프로젝트 학습에 기반한 논문쓰기 활동이 여중생의 자기주도학습 능력과 학습태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study were to identify the effect of thesis-writing activity based project method on the ability of girl's middle school student's self directed learning(SDL) and learning attitude. To achieve above study purpose, the subject of this study were selected 60 from second-grade students of reading club(thesis-writing activities participants 30, non-participants 30), applied a program based project method to experimental group, to carry out a pre-post examined targeting two-group with early making a SDL ability and learning attitude inventory, and the results of the data were analyzed by t-test using the SPSS(Ver. 18). The results were as follows: In the aspect of SDL ability development by thesis-writing activity, the student participant showed somewhat significant differences compared to the non-participants. First, a openess, inner-motivation, autonomy, self-conception of SDL ability was significantly higher than those non-participants. Second, confidence, success expert, attention, effectiveness, affection of learning attitude was significantly higher than those non-participants. These results represent that various programs, which can develop SDL ability and learning attitude, can be provided for youth when they join any thesis-writing activity based project method in general and those programs are also very effective in developing SDL ability and learning attitude of juveniles. Furthermore, It is suggested that thesis-writing activity based project method are a necessary element at the school education fields.
