The Present Situation and Science High School Teachers' Perception about Field Application of the GLOBE Program in Korea (국내 글로브 프로그램 운영 현황 및 지도교사들의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the application of GLOBE program in Korea and its perception displayed by the Science High school Teachers. The interview using a questionnaire with 12 science high school teachers in Korea was conducted. It was attempted to find a problem occurring during the practical application for getting a basic data for the development of Korean GLOBE program. The results of this study are as follows: (1) The level of GLOBE program was for upper grade levelsin elementary school and middle school. The program may not be suitable for the Science High School students in Korea. (2) To successfully apply the GLOBE program in Korea, study levels and research subjects in the program must be further developed in terms of quality and areas. Suggestions for the possibility of adopting and operating the program in Korea are made as follows: (1) To effectively manage the GLOBE school sites, there has to be a headquarter system in place and operation under, say, the Korean Earth Science Society. (2) To ensure the program's identity and goals, it is to set up a center for the Korea GLOBE program with a financial support system established.

Scientifically Gifted Students' Views on the Nature of Science (과학영재들의 과학의 본성에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of scientifically gifted students' views on the nature of science. A multiple-choice format questionnaire was administered to 237 Korean 10th, 11th and 12th graders at the Korea Science Academy. The differences and similarities by gender and experience of R&E program on the students' views of the nature of science were investigated. The questionnaire developed by Lim(2004) was implemented for this investigation. We found that the majority of scientifically gifted students had highly possessed the tentativeness of scientific knowledge. The students who experienced R&E program have relatively high apprehension of scientists' motivation for researches and activities in social context compared to the students who did not experience an R&E program. Scientifically gifted students had relatively high apprehension that government should not control researches of scientists and relatively low apprehension of social responsibilities of scientists comparing to general high school students. The experience on R&E program was identified as a factor to effect changes in the students' views on the nature of science. The study has implications for the development of gifted program and curriculum such as running and assessing R&E program, and also the pre-service preparation of science teacher, teacher education reformat in both the practical and the policy levels.

  • 금형가공에 사용되는 밀링머신의 가공시 공구와 피삭재의 접합면에서 버가 생성되며, 이러한 버의 생성에 따라 작업효율 감소 및 생산비의 비효율적 낭비를 가져오게 된다. [l]밀링 작업시 버가 생성되는 메카니즘을 파악하여 임의의 형상을 가진 공작물을 밀링작업할 때의 버의 형태와 Exit 각 등을 제공하는 프로그램을 개발하려 한다. 여기에서 핵심적인 피삭재의 형상 데이터 인식, 절삭영역 인식, 공구와 피삭재의 접점 및 그 Exit 각을 결정하는 알고리즘을 소개한다. 이러한 과정을 통해 Exit 버 알고리즘에 대한 연구를 수행하고자 하며, concave를 포함한 여러가지 형상의 피삭재를 대상으로 Exit 버에 대한 접근을 시도하여 실제 작업에선 와 유사한 환경에 대해 고려함으로써 버의 감소 및 작업 효율성의 증가를 위한 기초 연구를 수행한다. 또 이를 이용하여 Windows 환경에서의 버 예측 프로그램을 개발한다.

  • 마이크로소프트에서 개발한 키넥트(kinect)는 엑스박스(XBox) 게임 컨트롤러로 사용하는 장비이며 이 센서를 이용하여 사용자의 인체 행동을 인식하여 게임을 진행할 수 있는 센서 시스템이다. 또한 윈도우 환경에서 키넥트를 활용하여 다양한 응용 프로그램 개발을 할 수 있도록 SDK를 제공하고 있다. 현대사회에서 각종 범죄가 늘어남에 따라서 CCTV의 운용이 늘어나고 있으며 지정된 구역을 감시하는데 다양한 영상 장비들과 프로그램이 운용하고 있다. 시장에 판매되고 있는 CCTV 장비들 중에서 사람 추적기능을 가능 제품은 가격이 대부분 고가이다. 또한 야간에서는 사람의 감지가 힘들다. 본 연구에서는 키넥트의 골격 추적기능과 음성인식 기능을 활용하여 실시간 영상 녹화 프로그램을 개발하고자 하며, 개발된 프로그램은 키넥트 센서로 영상을 실시간 녹화하고 침입자에 대한 움직임을 자동 추적하여 녹화하는 DVR 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 또한 야간에서는 깊이(Depth) 영상을 이용하여 인물을 인식과 추적을 한다. 궁극적으로 키넥트 센서(Kinect Sensor)의 CCTV기능에 대한 활용성을 연구하는데 목적을 가진다.

Church School Kindergarten Teacher Education Programs for Teachers' Perceptions and Needs Analysis (교회학교 유치부 교사교육프로그램에 대한 교사들의 인식 및 요구)

  • This study aims to analyze the recognition and demands of church school kindergarten teachers enrolled in a kindergarten teacher training program. 278 kindergarten teachers in the Seoul and Gyeonggido area were chosen as the research objects and questionnaires were distributed to and recollected from them. The questions cover 3 areas: the recognition, necessity and contents of the training program for kindergarten teachers. The data from the collected questioners were processed to bring in frequency and percentage by question and an X2 test was employed to see whether there was a difference among background variables. In addition, mean and standard deviation were used for the questions regarding the program contents. The results showed that the teachers had a deep interest in and awareness of the necessity of the program. Among the demographic variables, they turned out statistically different by academic career, education-related career and major. Second, the list of the demands they made for the training contents for kindergarten teachers showed that they wanted, in the order of importance; educating parents, understanding young children, handling techniques of troubled children, effective communication skills with young children, and understanding their traits and teaching methods by trait and spiritual training of teachers.

The Current Status Regarding the Use of Music for Bereavement Care and the Program Coordinators' Perception in Hospice and Palliative Settings in South Korea (국내 호스피스·완화의료 기관 내 사별돌봄을 위한 음악 활용 현황 및 프로그램 코디네이터의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and the perception of hospice and palliative care program coordinators regarding the use of music in bereavement care in Korea. Both on-line and off-line questionnaires were distributed to program coordinators in 91 institutions, and 54 responses were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U test. Even though 92.6% of the participants currently provide a form of bereavement care and 51.9% utilize music as a part of their bereavement program, only 20.3% indicated that their bereavement programs were adequate to address the issues involved, suggesting a need for improvement. As the perceived necessity of bereavement care(4.52) and music therapy based bereavement care(4.20) were generally high, this study supports the need for further development of both forms of bereavement care in Korea.

An Analysis on the Perceptions of Beginning Secondary Mathematics Teachers about Teacher Knowledge (교사의 지식에 대한 중등 초임수학교사들의 인식 분석)

  • This study investigated the perceptions of beginning teachers about teacher knowledge. Reflections and improvement of their class knowledge have been perceived as the most important factors by beginning teachers. In terms of utilization of actual classes, teacher knowledge, mathematical concepts and correlations such as connection linked to class contents and hierarchy have been used the most. Among the needed teachers knowledge, knowledge of student understanding and mathematics content knowledge was the most essential knowledge that could be mainly formed through classroom experience and teacher training program. On the other hand, knowledge about technology and assessment was not necessary or useful factor for beginning teachers. To facilitate formation of beginning teachers' knowledge, teacher introductory program, mentoring program, interactive relationship with teacher education institutes, curriculum improvement for teacher education institute and the development and dissemination of various teachers training program would be required.

Analyzing the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) education program based on design thinking process (디자인씽킹 프로세스 기반의 인공지능(AI) 교육 프로그램 적용 효과분석)

  • At the beginning of the discussion of AI education in K-12 education, the study was conducted to develop and apply an AI education program based on Design Thinking and analyze the effects of the AI education programs. In the AI education program, students explored and defined the AI problems they were interested in, gathered the necessary data to build an AI model, and then developed a project using scratch. In order to analyze the effectiveness of the AI education program, the change of learner's perception of the value of AI and the change of AI efficacy were analyzed. The overall perception of the AI project was also analyzed. As a result, AI efficacy was significantly increased through the experience of carrying out the project according to the Design Thinking process. In addition, the efficacy of solving problems with AI was influenced by the level of use of programming languages. The learner's overall perception of the AI project was positive, and the perceptions of each stage of the AI project (AI problem understanding and problem exploration, practice, problem definition, problem solving idea implementation, evaluation and presentation) was also positive. This positive perception was higher among students with high level of programming language use. Based on these results, the implications for AI education were suggested.

  • This study investigated whether information literacy education contributes to change and improvement in university students' self awareness of information literacy and libraries. The pre-test and the post-test which comprised the same questions on information literacy and libraries were executed on 47 students in an information literacy-related regular course at D University. The information literacy-related questions in the questionnaire were based on ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education. The collected data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS.
