  • Due to complexity of indoor space, the demand of Location Based Services (LBS) in indoor space is increasing as well as outdoor. However, it includes privacy problems of exposing personal location. Location K-anonymity technology is a method to solve the privacy problems with cloaking their locations by Anonymized Spatial Region(ASR). It guarantees K users within a region containing the location of a given user. However previous researches have dealt the problems based on Euclidean distance in outdoor space, and cannot be applied in indoor space where there are constraints of movement such as walls. For this reason, we propose in this paper a K-anonymity for cloaking indoor location in consideration of structures and representation of indoor space. The basic concept of our approach is to introduce a hierarchical structure as ASR for including K-1 users for cloaking their locations. We also proposed a cost model by K and attributes of hierarchical structure to analyze the performance of the method.

  • The social network service is a online service letting users express the personality and enhancing the human network. However, these features result in side effects which diffuse personal information and make users access to treacherous information. Therefore, various access control models have been proposed. However, the access control mechanisms which encrypt data are only able to be applied for controlling access from direct node, and the access control mechanisms without data encryption allow service provider to access all the information. Moreover, both mechanisms do not consider dynamic changes in reliability of the users. In this paper, we propose relationship-based dynamic access control model including encryption of sensitive data, which consider the characteristics of SNS and improves the security of SNS.

  • U-healthcare, which grafted advanced IT technology onto medical technology, is in the limelight because it can provide medical services at anytime and anywhere. U-healthcare system applied RFID technology for Implantable Medical Device (IMD), but patient's biometric information can be easily exposed to third parties. In this article, RFID-based U-healthcare authentication protocol is proposed to prevent illegal usage for personal biometric information exposed to the third patty. The proposed protocol guarantees patients' biometric information integrity as compounding random numbers between administrators and hospital/clinic managers, and uses continuous number SEQ and time stamp T to synchronize IMD/administrators and administrators/hospital managers. Also, to protect user's privacy from the third party, patients' biometric information can be safely guarded by managing patients' security identifiers by administrators.

  • This study searched and analyzed online tracking technologies. It tried to understand what to consider when establishing policies related to online tracking. Online tracking technologies were classified into 'general cookies', 'super cookies', 'fingerprinting', 'device ID tracking' and 'cross-device tracking'. Political considerations should include the layers of online tracking, the subjects of tracking technology, purpose of use, duration and storage format of information, and development of technology. The implications of this study are as follows: first, policy makers and industry should be aware that the degree of risk perceived by users may vary according to the characteristics of online tracking technology. Secondly, it is necessary to understand factors that affect the classification of online tracking technology. Finally, in the industry, preemptive measures such as building an integrated privacy system are needed to relieve anxiety of users and to build trust.

  • Personal genetic information is information about a person's genetic characteristics, which may reveal important information about private matters such as susceptibility to disease. Progress in genetics makes it much easier to obtain personal genetic information, and this leads to concerns about confidentiality and security of genetic information, and about possible genetic discrimination. This paper examines social issues related to human genetic information in terms of individual identification, diagnosis of diseases, and non-medical genetic test, and then tries to provide desirable citizens participation methods that can be used when making public policies related to genetic information protection.

  • The rapid growth of smart phones has made location-based services (LBSs) widely available. However, the use of LBS can raise privacy issues, as LBS can allow adversaries to violate the location privacy of users. There has been a considerable amount of research on preserving user location privacy. Most of these studies try to preserve location privacy by achieving what is known as location K-anonymity. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical clustering-based spatial cloaking algorithm for LBSs. The proposed algorithm constructs a tree using a modified version of agglomerative hierarchical clustering. The experimental results show, in terms of the ASR size, that the proposed algorithm is better than Hilbert Cloak and comparable to RC-AR (R-tree Cloak implementation of Reciprocal with an Asymmetric R-tree split). In terms of the ASR generation time, the proposed algorithm is much better in its performance than RC-AR and similar in performance to Hilbert Cloak.

  • Trust is generally assumed to be an important precondition for people's adoption of e-government services. This study analyzes the direct and indirect impact of information privacy, interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth on perceived trust of e-government services and trust toward government. The Partial Least Square(PLS) was applied to the citizen survey data for hypotheses testing. PLS permits the simultaneous testing of cause-effect hypotheses while also allowing evaluation of the measurement model. Statistical results indicate that interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth positively affects perceived trust of e-government services, which in turn affects the level of political efficacy and the trust toward the government. Interactivity has been found to affect words-of-mouth as well. However, information privacy has no significant effect on the trust of e-government services.

  • As Online Behavioral Advertising is dramatically growing with usefulness of information and user convenience in recent years, there are privacy issues caused by collecting user's behavioral information without their consent. To tackle the problem, the need of Do Not Track regulations is getting much higher. In Korea, however, it has never existed. So, this study is examining the case of the major countries have been enforcing the law and regulations of DNT. After that, it is classified with four domain (law/regulation, corporation, individual, society) to include all stakeholders of OBA. Furthermore, this study may have academic significance by suggesting DNT framework through analysis of them. Providing DNT mechanism consisted of three type (behavioral information, control, DNT system), it can be useful guidelines for companies to support decision making as introduced DNT. As analyzed between DNT and stakeholders based on the study of OBA market, it will be useful basic material of OBA study later.

  • The recent increase in smartphone usage has ignited the development of new applications which have changed the way of living in this internet era in the world. Almost all users which have smartphone have used many kinds of applications for lots of part. Especially, Social Network Service is the most popular part for smartphone users. The greater part of smartphone users take messenger service for smartphone. This kinds of applications provide to manage as deactivation of user or change of device. When users take to manage their information, their information would be deleted securely. If secure deletion didn't work correctly and released, their personal information can be easily abused to by others through various means such as internet phishing. In this paper, we analysis that the messenger application's management function keeps on the Personal Information Protection Act and suggest to prevent legally and technically for user's personal information and privacy.

  • Despite the early success story, the pan-industry diffusion of big data has been slow mostly due to lack of confidence of the value creation and privacy-related concerns. The problem leads us to the need to a stakeholder analysis on the adoption process of big data. The present study combines technology acceptance model, task-technology fit theory, and privacy calculus theory to integrate the positive and negative factors on the big data adoption. The empirical analysis was performed based on the survey from the current and potential big data users. Results revealed perceived usefulness, task-technology fit, and privacy concern are significant antecedents to the intention to use big data. Furthermore, there are significant differences in the perceptions of each constructs among groups divided by the types of big data use, with several exceptions. And the control effect was found in the magnitude of the relation between independent variables and dependent variable. The theoretical and politic implications of the analysis are discussed as to the promotion of big data industry.
