Development of the New Austenitic Stainless Steels by Controlling Primary Solidification Mode (초정응고 형식 제어에 의한 오스테나이트계 스테인리스 신강종의 개발)

  • The aim of this study was saving of chromium and nickel content in the austenitic stainless steels, SUS 316 and SUS 321. By control of primary solidification mode, new austenitic stainless steels with good weldability, high toughness and corrosion resistance could be developed. The main results obtained were as follows; 1. Hot crack resistance of laboratory melts was good and higher than imported austenitic stainless steel. 2. Cryogenic and room temperature toughness of laboratory melts were high and laboratory melts M-7 to M-9 showed very high toughness than SUS321 imported stainless steel. 3. Intergranular corrosion resistance of laboratory melts was higher than imported stainless steels, SUS316 and SUS321. 4. By this concept of controlling primary solidification mode, could save expensive alloy additives, chromium and nickel.

An Analytical Method for the Validation of a Salt-enhancing Peptide Using a Liquid Chromatography and a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy (HPLC와 NMR를 이용한 염미성 펩타이드 분석방법 검증)

  • Salt, or sodium chloride (NaCl), is a critical ingredient in many foods. It has roles in the flavor profiles of food products, textures of foods and preservation of foods against microbes. However, it increases risks of hypertension and is closely related to the development of cardiovascular disease. In recent years, health concerns related to sodium intake caused an increased demand for salt-reduced products in worldwide; it became necessary to develop natural salt-alternative products that are globally competitive. In a recent study, researchers succeeded in obtaining a natural salt enhancer through the hydrolysis of vegetable- and animal-matter mixtures. This study used various methods to identify and quantify peptide-containing arginine as a salt-alternative peptide (SAP) in an optimum combination. Arginine, or dipeptide-containing arginine, was analyzed as a standard substance using an NMR spectroscopy. The NMR carbon signal of the guanidine group of the standard substance was verified in a similar location (the L-arginine (Arg) was 156.8 ppm, the Arg-Alanine was 156.4 ppm and the Arg-Serine was 156.4 ppm). The results suggested that it is possible to analyze peptide-containing arginine quantitatively through the hydrolysis of vegetable- and animal-matter mixtures.

Physiological Properties of $Corni$ $fructus$ Extracts Based on Their Extraction Condition (추출조건에 따른 산수유 열매 추출물의 생리활성)

  • Physiological properties of $Corni$ $fructus$ extracts were investigated. The DPPH radical scavenging activity of 90% ethanol extracts had shown 97.20% at 25 mL/g, which was highest in the all extracts. Total polyphenol content of 30% ethanol extracts had shown 140.01mg% at 25 mL/g, which was highest in the all extracts. The polyphenol contents increased as extract concentration rose (25 mL/g>50 mL/g>100 mL/g). Tyrosinase inhibitory effects of all samples were 23.96~88.71%, expecially, the highest at 60% ethanol extracts of 25 mL/g. Nitrite-scavenging abilities under acidic conditions (pH 1.2) were the most effective in all extracts. The results would be useful for understanding of the physiological properties of $Corni$ $fructus$ extracts.

  • Bio-based plastics containing the biomass content higher than 25 wt% have been considered as environment-friendly materials due to their effects on the reduction in the $CO_2$ emission and petroleum consumption as well as biodegradability after use. In this study, poly vinyl chloride, plant-derived plasticizers, by adding a biodegradable catalyst was observed a change in the biodegradability and physical properties. To produce the oxidative decomposition transparent bio film, which is broken down in the initial percent elongation and physical properties such as tensile strength, it was to test the safety of the product as a food packaging material. Poly vinyl chloride, primary plasticizer, secondary plasticizer, anti fogging agent, the combined stabilizer were mixed in a high speed mixer, then extruded using an extrusion molding machine, after cooling, winding, to produce a oxidative decomposition transparent bio film and the control film, with a thickness of $12{\mu}m$ through winder role. Mechanical properties tensile strength, elongation, and the maximum load elongation and biodegradation test. Transparent bio film produced by biodegradation catalyst is compared with the control film. Tensile strength and elongation of films were found to be no significant difference. Further, as a result of the biodegradation test for 45 days based on the ASTM D6954-04 method, biodegrability of film is 61.4%.

A Study of the Fengshui Marketing Model in the Housing Industry (주택산업의 풍수마케팅 모형 정립에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to establish a Fengshui-based marketing model that companies engaged in selling dwelling spaces can utilize to increase their sales. The study is based on an investigation of appraisal statements and analysis techniques used in Fengshui. The Fengshui marketing model can be used for corporate advertising, sales promotions, public relations events, and for framing an overall marketing strategy according to changing consumer demand. As a sales promotion strategy, it can be used to influence consumer psychology and behavior. Although this study is limited to the all-pervasive advertising and marketing of houses by construction companies under installment plans, the Fengshui marketing method can also be used for the sale of store locations, space for product display, and so on. Initially, I analyze living spaces according to traditional Fengshui theory, and subsequently apply the modern method to study topographical space structures and geomagnetism disturbances. I present a standard form for writing the Fengshui appraisal statement based on the objective analytical method of Fengshui. With its shortcomings remedied, the appraisal statement can lead to high-quality advertising and increased valuations because it is based on objective data analysis and systematic evaluation of houses. In brief, I have designed the Fengshui marketing model as a sales promotion technique for the housing industry. I believe this study will contribute to the application of Fengshui in the housing industry's sales promotion efforts through high-quality advertising. Future research should evaluate Fengshui marketing in the housing industry based on case studies. Research questions to be addressed could include how Fengshui marketing has affected installment sales of houses and how Fengshui architectural practices affect general well-being. These studies would help propagate Fengshui marketing by validating its effectiveness. In addition, case studies should be undertaken to consider the practical applications of Fengshui marketing, how it can contribute to maximizing a company's image and profits, and how it can promote customer satisfaction.

  • 1886년 고트리브 다이믈러와 칼 벤즈가 가솔린 자동차를 개발한 이후 100여년이 지난 지금 자동차는 비약적으로 진보, 발전하여 현대 산업사회와 개인의 생활에 있어 산업운송수단과 이동수단으 로서 필요불가결하게 되어 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있다. 우리나라 자동차 공업의 역사는 자동차가 사회적, 경제적 효용에 따라 그 생산과 보유대수가 날이 갈수록 증가 일로에 있으며, 자동차의 생산대수는 전세 계에서 년간 약 50,606천대('94년)로서 중요한 국가 기간 산업으로 자리하고 있다. 한편 전기, 전자공업의 발전에 따른 자동차의 Car Electronics가 많이 채용되게 됨에 따라 현재의 자 동차에는 대부분이 전자제어 System으로 구성되어 있다. 최근에는 Micro Processor를 이용한 전자부품이 많이 사용되어 전자파에 대한 문제가 다양하게 발생 하고 있다. 예를 들면 미국 캘리포니아주에서 전자점화제어장치와 연료분사 장치를 설치한 구미의 자동 차가 주행중 28MHz, 28W의 아마추어 무선을 탑제한 자동차가 통과할 때 엔진이 고르지 못한 보고가 있 었고, 화학섬유로된 옷을 착용한 전자부품이 다른 부품에 영향을 주는 사례가 맣아지고 있다. 따라서 자동차에는 여러가지의 전장품, 전자기기를 탑재하기 때문에 자동차 자체에서 발생하는 것과 외부로 부터 받는 전자장해 EMI(Electromagnetic Interference), EMS(Electromagnetic Susceptibility) 가 문제로 되어 자동차 및 부품 maker에 의한 EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility) 평가의 중요성이 고조되고 있다. 차제무전기, 차제무전기, Car-Radio는잡음방해를 많이 받기도 하지만, 잡음원이 되기 도 한다. 또한 Engine 제어, 차속제어, Brake 제어등에 이용되는 전자제품은 방해에 의한 오동작 또는 파괴가 발생하여 주행기능, 안전성에 문제가 야기되지 않도록 해야 한다. 이러한 전자기 환경은 모두 RF(Radio Frequence)와 자동차에서의 전자파 장해 문제의 원이 될 수 있다. 자동차 및 그 부품의 전자기 방해에 관한 규격화는 1987년부터 괄목할 만하게 진행되어 이에 따른 규제 움직임이 IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission: 국제전기기술위원회) 산하의 하부기 구인 CISPR(International Special Committeeon Radio Interference: 국제 무선 장해 특별위원회)가 전자기 방해파에 대한 측정법 통일안을 제안 하였고, ISO(International Standardization Organiza- tion: 국제표준화 기구) 가운데 TC 22/SC3가 자동차의 전장품에 대한 장해를 논의히고 있다. 특히, 자동차의 EMC에 관한 국가 규격은 국제 규격에서 저술한 바와 같이 특별히 규정된 것이 없고 VDE(Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker: 서독전기기술 협회)와 SAE(Society of Automotive Engi- neers: 자동차 기술자 협회)에서 비교적 활발하고 Jaso(Japanese Automobile Standards Organization: 일본 자동차 표준협회)에서 많이 진행중에 있다. 본 고에서는 자동차의 전자제어에 따른 잡음 발생 요인과 전자파 간섭 관련 자동차 규격과 시험평가 방법에 대해 간단히 소개 하였다.

Simultaneous Determination of Heavy Metals in Cosmetic Products by Ion Chromatography (이온 크로마토그래피를 이용한 화장품 중 중금속 동시분석)

  • No matter how small amount of heavy metals it may be cause skin allergies through percutaneous adsorption when existing in cosmetic products as impurities. In order to develop a highly sensitive method for simultaneous determination of $Pb^{2+},\;Fe^{2+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Ni^{2+},\;Zn^{2+},\;Co^{2+},\;Cd^{2+},\;and\;Mn^{2+}$ in coloring agents and cosmetic products with rapidity and accuracy, we carried out the determination on ion chromatography. All of these metals are well separated through a bifunctional ion-exchange column(IonPac CS5A) and detected by post-column reaction and spectrophotometric detection. The calibration graphs are linear($r^2>0.999$) in the range $0.1{\sim}1000{\mu}g/mL$. Detection limits for 200 ${\mu}L$ of sample solution are at the level of ${\mu}g/L$, which is sufficient for judging whether the product is safe or not. The relative standard deviations(RSDs) of the retention time and the peak area are less than 0.21 and 1.24%, respectively. The recovery rates are $97{\sim}104%$. The new method was applied to analyze the amount of heavy metals which were contained in 22 cosmetic products and 11 coloring agents.

Meta-analysis of Studies and Patents on Korean ginseng in Recent 5 Years in Korea and Prospective Needs (국내 인삼 연구 현황 및 미래 수요 예측; 최근 5년간 농학.식품학 및 약리학을 중심으로)

  • Research literatures (e.g. research report, scientific paper and thesis, published between 2001 and 2005) of 332 collected from KISTI, KISS, ARPC databases were investigated and analyzed to give an overview of domestic ginseng researches. Most of recent ginseng researches have been performed by private nonprofit institutions and individuals, which suggests that a role of public institution fur ginseng researches needed to be enlarged. In terms of research fields, cultivation and agricultural researches have been mainly accomplished in ginseng research. Cell physiology and reproductive function researches occupied large part of pharmacological studies, but clinical studies were relatively limited. Studies on general food products development have taken the main part in fields of food products including functional foods. As the result of analysis of 312 domestic ginseng patents by classifications of world international property organization (WIPO), it was categorized into food technology, medicinal fermentation development technology, fermentation technology, and agriculture-fisheries technology. This integrated overview of the widely scattered ginseng literatures shows current general research trends in Korea and will be able to suggest further needs on cultivation, studies and industralization of ginseng.

Quality and Pasting Properties of Traditional Olbyeossal (전통 올벼쌀의 품질과 호화 특성)

  • This study investigated the physicochemical properties of traditional Olbyeossal(Korean-style parboiled waxy rice) and other rices(dried cooked rice, germinated brown rice, and waxy brown rice). Olbyeossal had a moisture content of 12.7% a crude fat level of 1.0%, a crude ash content of 0.9%, and a crude protein value of 6.3%. The color values were 58.63(L value), 0.83(a value) and 21.73(b value). The water adsorption index(WAI) of Olbyeossal was 6.2g/g after 40 min steeping at room temperature, which was much higher than the WAI of the other rices. The hardness of Olbyeossal(10.5 kgf) was higher than those of other rices($7.5{\sim}8.9$ kgf). The initial pasting temperatures of Olbyeossal, dried cooked rice(DCR), germinated brown rice(GBR) and waxy brown rice(WBR) were $39.5^{\circ}C,\;43.5^{\circ}C,\;65.0^{\circ}C,\;and\;64.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. The breakdown and total setback viscosities of Olbyeossal(70 B.U., 50 B.U.) and WBR(10 B.U., 30 B.U.) were lower than those of DCR(120 B.U., 275 B.U.) and GBR(142 B.U., 340 B.U.).

  • These studies were conducted to evaluate the milling characteristics of Korean wheat cultivars and breeding lines harvested in 1980 and 1981. The straight-grade flour yield (by Buhler experimental mill) for all tested wheats was in a range of 56 to 73% with a mean value of 65% and the flour ash content averaged 0.44%. Mean milling score for all tested wheats was about 78. Average ash values of wheats harvested in 1980 and 1981 were 665.3 and 683.5, respectively, and flour protein content averaged 10.55% and 10.25%, respectively. There were significant positive correlations between flour yield vs. milling score, ash content vs. ash value and protein content vs. ash value, while there were negative correlation between flour ash vs. milling score, protein content vs. milling score and milling score vs. ash value.
