In this paper, nanocrystallization of CuNiTiZr bulk metallic glass (BMG) subjecting to a kinetic spraying, dependent on impact velocity, was investigated by numerical and experimental approaches. The crystallization fraction and nucleation activation energy of initial feedstock and as-deposited coating were estimated by DSC and Kissinger method, respectively. The results of numerical modeling and experiment showed that the crystalline fraction and nucleation activation energy in BMG coatings were depended on kinetic energy of incident particle. Upon impact, the conversion of particle kinetic energy leads to not only decreasing free energy barrier but also increasing the driving force for an amorphous to crystalline phase transformation. The nanocrystallization of BMGs is associated with the strain energy delivered by a plastic deformation with a high strain rate.
As the large Coolant amount used of a machine holds mass serious trouble recently, an environment pollution is increased, and a machine is conquering large specific gravity in an empty cost plane. It is the stage that must reexamine the parts washing that processing is later with this current way or a problem of a liquid waste treatment back. The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the grinding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below -$25^{\circ}C$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air and oil mist supply direction were done.
The cost for maintenance (replacement cost) of Ni-superalloy components in plant industry is very expensive because of high unit price of INCONEL 718. A development of repairing technology using kinetic spray process can be very helpful for reducing the maintenance cost. However, it is very difficult to produce well-deposited INCONEL 718 layer showing high interfacial bond strength via kinetic spraying. Thus, INCONEL 718 was deposited on SCM 440 substrate and the interfacial properties were investigated, in order to elucidate the cause of hindrance to the bonding between INCONEL 718 layer and SCM 440 substrate. As a result, it was revealed that the dominant obstacle to the interfacial bonding was excessive compressive residual stress accumulated in the coating layer, resulting from low plastic-deformation susceptibility of INCONEL 718. Nevertheless, the bonding state was enhanced by the post heat-treatment through relieving the residual stress and generating a diffusion/metallurgical bonding between the INCONEL 718 deposit and SCM 440 substrate.
Measurements of the local heat transfer coeffcients on a spherically concave surface with a round impinging jet are presented. The liquid crystal transient method was used for these measurements. This method, which is a variation on the transient method, suddenly exposes a preheated wall to an impinging jet while video recording the response of liquid crystals for the measurement of the surface temperature. The Reynolds numbers used were 1,000, 23,000 and 50,000 and the nozzle-to-jet distance was L/d=2, 4, 6, 8, 10. Presented results are compared to previous measurements for flat plate. In the experiment, the local heat transfer Nusselt numbers on a concave surface are higher than those on a flat plate. Maximum Nusselt number at all region occured at L/d=6 and second maximum in the Nusselt number occured at R/d=2 for both Re=50,000 and Re=23,000 in case of L/d=2 and for only Re=50,000 in case of L/d=4. All other cases exhibit monotonically decreasing value of the Nusselt number along the curved surface.
In this study, we investigated the effect of the impacting ang1e of particles, the scanning times and the stand-off distance on the surface roughness and the weight-loss rate of samples with no mask, and the wall profile and overetching of samples with different mask pattern in powder blasting of soda-lime glass. The varying parameters were the different impact angles between 50$^{\circ}$ and 90$^{\circ}$, scanning times of nozz1e up to 40 and the stand-off distances 70mm and 100mm. The widths of mask pattern were 0.2mm, 0.5mm and 1mm. The powder was alumina sharp particles, WA#600. The mass flow rate of powder during the erosion test was fixed constant at 175g/min and the blasting pressure of powder at 0.2MPa
The idea of $CO_2$ sequestration in the ocean is proposed to be an effective mitigation strategy to counteract potential global warming due to the greenhouse effect Therefore, in the present study, calculations of the dissolution behavior of $CO_2$ hydrate when liquid carbon dioxide is released at 1,000m and 1,500m in depth are performed. The results show the liquid $CO_2$ injected in the ocean becomes $CO_2$ bubble at between 350m and 500m in depth, and the injection from a moving ship is a more effective method of dissolution than through a fixed pipeline. It so also noted that the ultimate plume generated from $CO_2$ bubbles repeats expansion and shrinking due to the peel ins from a fixed pipeline.
