An Analysis on Characteristics of Thickness of Asphalt Concrete Pavement with Computer Programs (전산해석 프로그램을 이용한 아스팔트포장 단면의 거동특성분석)

  • Asphalt pavement tends to rut in high temperature and to crack in cold temperature. The performance of asphalt pavement can be deteriorated by korean weather condition which has the four distinct seasons. In this study, the typical sections that may minimize rutting and fatigue were analyzed through the numerical model tests. The layered elastic theory , finite element method and visco elastic theory were utilized for these numerical model tests. From the various numerical model tests, it is found that an optimum design procedure was recommended. It was increasing the thickness of asphalt stabilized base with fixing the wearing course as 5cm the minimum specified thickness. The section was most beneficial in resting rutting and fatigue. From the analysis of the relative index on tensile strain and cost analysis, it was recommended that the thickness ratio of subbase and asphalt concrete is 1.0$\sim$2.5.

Evaluation of Disease Resistance of a Leaffolder-resistant (Cry1Ac1) Rice Event and Gene Transfer to Plant Pathogens (혹명나방 저항성벼(Cry1Ac1)의 병해 저항성 및 병원균으로의 유전자 전이)

  • The genetically modified leaffolder-resistant (Cry1Ac1) rice plant was evaluated for the changes of resistance by comparing the occurrence of major diseases with a japonica type Korean rice variety, Nakdong which was the mother plant of the transgenic rice event, in greenhouse and field conditions. There was no difference in the occurrence of sheath blight and Helminthosporium blight between the two varieties in the fields. We couldn't find any difference of resistance for fungal blast and bacterial leaf blight by artificial inoculation in greenhouse. There was also no difference in the susceptibility to sheath blight in artificial inoculation tests confirming the results in the fields. The possibility of gene transfer of Bar and Cry1Ac1 from the genetically modified rice plant to naturally infected pathogens such as Fusarium moniliforme and Pyricularia oryzae in the field conditions was tested by PCR. And the possible transfer of those genes by continuous inoculation of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Rhizoctonia solani was also tested. However, we couldn't find any possibility of transfer of the genes in natural and artificial conditions.

The Performance Analysis of Diamond Grinding for Existing Concrete Pavement (기존 콘크리트 포장의 성능 향상을 위한 다이아몬드 그라인딩 공법의 초기 공용성 평가)

  • The maintenance / repair of concrete pavements has become an issue as a result of increasing of concrete pavements' service year. Asphalt overlay is applied to the concrete pavements after partial repairs on all occasions. This thesis discusses the application standard, evenness, skid resistance, noise, economical efficiency, extension of life span, etc. of diamond grinding, a method of maintenance about concrete pavements. Based on this, it was applied to the field and measured the performance. It was measured the longitudinal evenness of before and after the construction through measurement equipment. and surveyed the skid resistance the each lane classified using the SN standard value. In case of noise, it is selected the kind of vehicle, velocity, then measured the noise between control and constructed site. In addition, it is evaluated the average texture depth. As a result of the analysis, longitudinal evenness is improved about $6{\sim}40%$, skid resistance is improved 66% at first section,37% at second section. Noise is reduced 3.4dB average, and average texture depth is 79% deeper than control section. Therefore, it can be concluded that diamond grinding is suitable as maintenance / repair method of concrete pavements.

  • Geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavement is a pavement type applicable to overlay for repair in addition to new construction. The geosynthetic materials are placed between the asphalt layers to stop or delay propagation of the cracking existing at lower layers and to reduce the rutting. In this study, the cracking, rutting, IRI, and deflection were investigated to compare the performance between geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavement and ordinary or polymer modified asphalt pavement. Based on field conditions, the 11 sections were classified into 3 groups; sections proper to compare, sections with restrictions to compare, sections with difficulties in comparing, and the data was statistically analyzed. Larger resistance to rutting and increased IRI were measured at the geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavement sections comparing to the ordinary or polymer modified asphalt pavement sections. However, the deflections of the pavements were similar and the resistance to the cracking could not be compared because of short pavement lives.

  • Surface of fine-size exposed aggregate portland cement concrete pavements(FS-EAPCC) is consist by exposed coarse aggregate to remove upper 2~3mm mortar of concrete slabs. Advantages of FS-EAPCC are maintaining low-noise and adequate skid-resistance level during the performance period. However, FS-EAPCC is required rational management criteria for field application, since it is early stage for application. Design construction and quality control criteria of FS-EAPCC was temporary laboratory tests which including optimum mix and exposing method, selection of adequate aggregate, resistance against, environmental loading and etc. However, these criteria need to be validated base on field application. In this study, experimental constructions were performed and construction procedure and quality control criteria were suggested based on the performance of the FS-EAPCC.

  • Inter-regional difference in median lethal concentration of Bacillus thuringiensis diamondback moth was disclosed to be high. Pyungchang strain showed at most 41 times resistance compared to KN-IA strain of which $LC_{50}$ value was 5.5 ppm. and Oksan strain Showed 11 times resistance. The JMC strain, susceptible to pyrethroids, also showed 12 times resistance against B.T., suggesting difference in resistance mechanism between pyrethroid and B.t.

  • Recently, usage bicycle has been encouraged to reduce energy consumption and $CO_2$. For this purpose, lots of bike road construction are planned. Typical type of pavement used in bikeroad such as asphalt concrete pavement, portland cement concrete pavement, colored pavement, soil pavement. However, these pavement types may need high construction cost comparing the required capacity of bike road. In this study, roller compacted concrete pavement which are economical and durable, are investigated to use as bike road pavement. The optimum compaction level and mix design of roller compacted concrete pavement are suggested by exploring strength test with various mixture ratio and compaction level, Also durability was examined based on freeze-thaw and scaling test. In addition, the cost and amount of carbon emission during in the construction of roller compacted concrete were evaluated and compare with the cost and carbon emission of typical portland cement concrete.

A Study of Skid Resistance Characteristics by Deicing Chemicals (제설제 사용으로 인한 노면 미끄럼저항 특성 연구)

  • Skid Resistance is a index to represent the friction between tire and road surface, which influences driving safety. Skid resistance varies with the conditions of tire, abrasion of road surface, vehicle speed, drying, wet and freezing condition of road surfaces. Especially, freezing occurs when temperature drops below $0^{\circ}C$ followed by snow or rain causes decrease of skid resistance. To recover the decreased skid resistance deicing work is applied. As a results of deicing works, freezing condition is changed into wet condition. However the wet road surfaces containing the remaining deicings agents may not show the skid resistance of normal wet condition. In this study, skid resistances in the condition of freezing, deicing process and deicing agents remained after snow-removal are evaluated. The test results, skid resistance recover quickly when Pre-wetted salt spreading and NaCl was used as deicing method. Skid resistance of Deicing agents remained on the road surface showed that concrete is higher than asphalt. superior effect. Recovery rate of skid resistance by comparison wet condition is 54~80%.

  • 포장도로는 신설된 후 계속적인 차량의 통행과 기후 조건의 변화등으로 시 간이 경과함에 따라서 그 상태가 저하된다. 따라서 포장도로는 일정기간이 지난 후에는 쾌적한 차량의 통행을 보장하기 위하여 유지보수를 실시하여야 한다. 이러한 유지보수를 효율적이고 과학적으로 수행하는 것은 대단히 중요 하다. 미국과 같은 선진국의 경우 도로 신설의 투자비 보다 유지보수에 사용 되는 예산이 더 많아지고 있는데 효율적인 유지관리 시스템의 개발로 투자 비를 적정화하고자 하는 노력이 크게 증가되고 있다. 도로 포장 구조체가 도 로 이용자에게 어느 정도의 안전성, 쾌적성 및 신속성을 제공하고 있는가를 평가하는 것은 포장관리의 중요한 고려사항이며 그 결과는 포장의 공용성 개념으로 표현된다. 포장상태 조사시 포함되는 항목들은 포장유지관리 시스 템을 운용하는 기관마다 약간씩 차이는 있으나 대체로 노면조도, 노면장애, 구조적 능력, 미끄럼저항등이다. 이중 진동계측장비가 많이 사용되는 항목은 노면조도와 구조적 능력평가 부분으로서 이 두 항목에 포함되는 진동 계측 장비와 그 이용방법에 관해서 논하고자 한다.

Control Effects of Several Fungicides on Jujube Anthracnose and Fungicide Resistance Monitoring (몇 종류 살균제의 대추 탄저병균에 대한 방제효과 및 살균제 저항성 모니터링)

  • Among 6 fungicides, fluazinam, which had an excellent inhibitory effect on mycelial growth and spore germination, was also effective in controlling jujube anthracnose in the field. While EC50 values of metconazole and tebuconazole ranged from 0.2 to 0.9 ㎍/ml and from 0.4 to 1.1 ㎍/ml against the mycelial growth, respectively, each inhibitory effect on spore germination was low by 7.4% and 11.1% at 50.0 ㎍/ml. In the field test, they showed the control value of 80.5% and 77.0%, respectively. The protective fungicides, as mancozeb and folpet, which had a low inhibitory effect on the mycelial growth, but had a high inhibitory effect of spore germination, showed excellent disease control activities by 87.6% and 92.0% in the field. Showing a result of resistance monitoring conducted with the isolates of Colletotricum gloeosporioides, the resistance against carbendazim was already generated in the field, but it was thought that there was no resistance to pyraclostrobin, fluazinam and tebuconazole. However, if the resistance factor value of the population of C. gloeosporioides isolates to pyraclostrobin was high by 160.4, the diversity of the response to the fungicide in the population was high, so it should be taken more attention to the resistance management.
