Identification and Pathogenicity of Colletotrichum Species Causing Anthracnose of Korean Radish (Rhaphanus sativus) in Korea (무 탄저병을 일으키는 Colletotrichum속의 종 동정 및 병원성)

  • In August 2017, anthracnose symptoms were observed on the petioles and leaf veins of Korean radish (Rhaphanus sativus) in Hongcheon, Jeongseon, and Pyeongchang of the Gangwon province, Korea. Many grayish to dark-brown spots of 1-2 mm in diameter, appeared on the lower surface and leaf veins of the radish leaves. The spots gradually enlarged and coalesced to form dark-brown irregular lesions. Ten Colletotrichum isolates were obtained from the affected tissues of the Korean radish. Out of them, eight isolates were identified as C. higginsianum and two isolates were identified as C. truncatum based on morphological characteristics and multi-locus molecular phylogenetic analysis using the internal transcribed spacers and intervening 5.8S rDNA (ITS), partial beta-tubulin gene (TUB2), partial actin gene (ACT), and partial chitin synthase-1 gene (CHS1). The pathogenicity test was carried out on wounded and unwounded Korean radish (cv. Siraegimu and Osarimu), and Chinese cabbage (cv. Chuno and Smart) by inoculating with a spore suspension. All isolates except one C. truncatum isolate developed typical symptoms on both wounded and unwounded Korean radish. In Chinese cabbage, only the plants inoculated with C. higginsianum isolates developed symptoms regardless of the wound. This is the first report of anthracnose caused by C. truncatum on Korean radish in Korea.

Supression Functions of Retrogradation in Korean Rice Cake(Garaeduk) by Various Surfactants (다양한 Surfactants의 가래떡 노화 억제 기능)

  • This study was conducted to investigate supression functions of retrogradation in Korean rice cake by various surfactants. Samples were manufactured by multifunctional extruder and wrapped with polyethylene wrap at 2$0^{\circ}C$ for four days of storage. In the thermal characteristics studies on supression of retrogradation, the Korean rice cake with various surfactants had lower onset temperature compared to the control. The Korean rice cake with GLF (glycerin fatty acid ester) had the lowest onset temperature. In case of peak temperatures, they showed a similar tendency to the onset temperature. All the Korean rice cakes added with various surfactants had low melting enthalpy values compared to the control. In addition the Korean rice cake with GLF added had the lowest melting enthalpy. Melting spreadabilities of the Korean rice cake added with GLF, SUF, SOF and PST were higher values than that of the control. The n value of Avrami exponent was 0.90 in case of the Korean rice cake added with GLF and its retrogradation was slowly progressed compared to the other samples. The Korean rice cake with GLF had the lowest rate constants of retrogradation. The recrystallinity of the Korean rice cake with GLF was relatively lower than that of the control. The rate constant of retrogradation showed the lowest value in case of GLF. All the Korean rice cakes added with surfactants were in good compared to the control in sensory characteristics. GLF exhibited the best effect in sensory characteristics during storage. In conclusion surfactant showed suppression effect of retrogradation in Korean rice cake, and GLF was best effective.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study of the vehicle lamp manufacturing system composing ultrasonic waves connection process. Making lamp assembly plant, it was produced in the separate process as the injection molding, ultrasonic waves bonding, annealing in the constant temperature, lamp assembling and packing. But the improvement method producing the lamp was added with one-step process by one automation technique. As a result, welding with ultrasonic waves process, the method decreased the energy consumption and noise during ultrasonic waves welding. Therefore, this method used the mathematics modeling for checking validity, it selected the stability and suitable controller using transfer function of plant and bode chart. In this study, the $180^{\circ}$ revolution control system to turn injection part upside down was $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ because of gravity influence. It effected to unstable condition a system. For solving this problem, it aimed the linearization and stabilization of system by elimination $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ as applying Free-forward control technique.

Effect of Chicken Skin and Pork Backfat on Quality of Dakgalbi-Taste Chicken Sausage (닭갈비맛 계육 소시지의 닭 껍질과 돼지 등지방의 첨가 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of chicken skin and pork backfat on quality of Dakgalbi-taste chicken sausage as fat sources. The sausages were manufactured with 100% chicken breast without fat sources, 85% chicken breast meat with 15% chicken skin or 85% chicken breast meat with 15% pork backfat, respectively. Batters for production of chicken sausage were mixed with 5% Dakgalbi sauce and 4.92% ingredients (meat and lipid basis) for 20 min and then stuffed into casing. All cooked sausages were vacuum-packaged and stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 14 days. Moisture and crude protein contents were higher in the control, and crude lipid content was higher in chicken sausage with pork backfat (p<0.05). Unsaturated fatty acids content and monounsaturated fatty acids/saturated fatty acids ratio of sausage with pork backfat were lower than those of control and sausage with chicken skin (p<0.05), which were influenced by fatty acids compositions of fat sources. The chicken sausage with pork backfat showed a lower hardness and chewiness, and higher springiness measured by food texture analyzer. The sausage with pork backfat had a high level of water holding capacity (WHC) during storage (p<0.05). In conclusion, Dakgalbi-taste chicken sausage containing chicken skin had higher unsaturated fatty acid compositions, but showed lower textural quality compared with that containing pork backfat.

Screening of Rice Cultivars for Adult-Plant Resistance to Pyricularia oryzae (도열병에 대해 성체식물 저항성을 지닌 벼 품종의 선발)

  • Thirty two rice cultivars which have been cultivated or used as breeding materials in Korea were tested for screening rice cultivars resistant to leaf blast at adult-plant stages in the blast nursery hill plots. When compared on the basis of disease severities in individual leaves at different growth stages of rice plants under natural field infection, the 16 indica-japonica hybrids tested were highly resistant but the 16 japonica cultivars tested showed various degrees of resistance to leaf blast. With aging of rice plants, the quantitative levels of resistance to leaf blast increased in all the cultivars, although the levels of resistance to leaf blast varied according to rice genotypes. The leaf position of rice plants in which changed from susceptible to resistant reactions varied also with rice genotypes. The susceptible reactions of the rice cultivars to Pyricularia oryzae were distinctly changed to a resistant reaction on upper leaves of rice plants. The rice cultivars, in which the quantitative level of resistance to leaf blast was higher, were resistant on the lower leaves of rice plants. The cultivars Akibare, Palkeum, Jinheung, Olchal, Dobong and Ginga which drastically decreased blast infection at late growth stage were evaluated as adult-plant-resistant to leaf blast in the field. The adult-plant-resistant cultivars became resistant to leaf blast, both qualitatively and quantitatively, as rice plants matured.

Effects of Composted Pig Manure Application on Enzyme Activities and Microbial Biomass of Soil under Chinese Cabbage Cultivation (돈분퇴비의 시용이 토양의 미생물체량 및 효소활성에 미치는 영향)

  • To elucidate the effects of composted pig manure on soil biochemical properties, composted pig manure was amended in a sandy loam soil and Chinese cabbage was grown. Composted pig manure treatments included 8, 29 and $57Mg\;ha^{-1}$ for CM-08, CM-29, and CM-57 plots, respectively. Biomass contents and enzymes activities in the non-rhizophere soil were measured. Activities of protease, phosphomonoesterase and dehydrogenase in the plot CM-57 increased to 2.3, 1.6, and 2.4 fold as compared with those of the control plot. Soil microbial biomass contents increased in proportion to the application rates of compost and biomass C, N, and P in the plot CM-59 were 4.3, 3.4, 2.8-fold higher than those of control p1ot(no fertilizer), respectively. During cultivation of Chinese cabbage, biomass C and N were higher in the middle growth stage, although biomass P was the highest in the early growth stage. The average ratio of biomass C:N:P was 11:2:1, and proportion of biomass C and N in the soil organic C and N was 1.1 and 3.6%, respectively. Activities of protease and dehydrogenase had significant correlations with biomass C and P.

Studies on the Response of Barley Varieties to Nitrogen Application and Seeding Methods (보리의 안전증수를 위한 질소비료의 효율적 이용에 관한 연구)

  • Five barley varieties were compared under six 1evels of nitrogen fertilization and two methods of cultural management, conventional and drill seeding. The increase in grain yield and nitrogen content of the leaves showed a significant linear regression from added increaments of nitrogen in Haganemugi and Olbori, particulary under drill seeding. The other varieties resulted in various degrees of lodging and no significant increases in yield. The spike number per square meter was the major component of yield, but when the spike number per square meter was sufficient, 1000 grain weight was equally as important as a component of yield.

Comparison of the Quality Characteristics of Korean Native Black Pork and Modern Genotype Pork During Refrigerated Storage (재래종 흑돼지육과 개량종 돼지육의 냉장저장중 품질비교)

  • This study was carried out to compare the quality characteristics including aroma compounds and pattern of M. Biceps femoris from Korean native black pigs (70kg, 6 months, KNP) and modern genotype pigs (103kg, 6 months, Landrace×Yorkshire, MGP) during vacuum-storage at 2±0.2℃ for 12 days. KNP had high contents of crude protein and ash, but low content of moisture as compared to MGP (p<0.05). KNP showed lower pH and higher cooking loss than MGP (p<0.05) during storage. CIE a* and b* values of KNP significantly higher during storage as compared to those of MGP (p<0.05). TBARS value of KNP significantly increased after 8 days as compared to that of MGP (p<0.05). Shear force value of KNP was higher than that of MGP until 8 days (p<0.05). Volatiles by SPME-GS/MS was slightly different between KNP and MGP, but aroma pattern by electronic nose was not different. Therefore, KNP had redder and darker color, higher cooking loss and harder texture than MGP. The sensory quality of KNP was better than those of MGP (p<0.05), although aroma characteristics by instruments were not different between KNP and MGP.

Biological properties of $\beta$-ketoacetoanilide chlorides against late blight of tomato (베타-케토아세트아닐라이드 염화물 유도체의 토마토 역병에 대한 작용 특성)

  • [ $\beta$ ]-Ketoacetoanilide chloride derivatives containing a substituent at 4 in phenyl group (para) reduced specifically the development of tomato late blight caused by Phytophthora infestans. Among $\beta$ketoacetoanilide chloride derivatives, five (KIST163, KIST170, KIST260, KIST263, and KIST267) were selected and tested for their protective, curative, systemic, persistent activities, and disease control efficacy against tomato late blight on adult plants. They exhibited a strong l-day protective activity and $EC_{50}$ of KIST163 and KIST170 were 21.9 and $14.5{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. However, they had little curative and systemic activities. Good persistence of KIST163 and KIST170 on tomato plants were observed against P. infestans; both KIST163 and KIST170 at $100{\mu}g/mL$ showed control values more than 75% in a 7-day protective applications. In addition, the two chemicals effectively controlled the occurrence of P. infestans on adult tomato plants. These results indicate that five $\beta$-ketoacetoanilide chloride derivatives are foliar fungicides with a preventive action and KIST163 and KIST170 have a potential for the control of tomato late blight in the fields.

Study on development of data base system and pattern analysis of tunnel portal slope in Korea (국내 터널 갱구사면 데이터베이스관리 시스템 개발 및 상태평가 기법에 관한 연구)

  • The number of tunnels are in fact increasing as a part of linear improvement project of general national highway and road enlargement and pavement project. Recently, collapses of portal slope are also occurring considerably, due to local raining from severe rain storm and abnormal weather. Accordingly, it was risen a necessity to efficiently respond to tunnel portal slope damage and maintenance in Korea and oversea nations. This paper is a basic proposal to execute a survey on the current status and state of the tunnel portal slopes that were already installed and are now being operated along general national highways, and also to execute state evaluation for the purpose of managing those effectively. As a research method, domestic tunnels were analyzed in accordance with geometrical shape such as access type, portal form, and tunnel type, etc. via field survey to analyze the types of tunnel portal slopes along national highways. State evaluation classification sheet is presented to divide classes for the danger state of the surveyed portal slopes, and then the related grades are divided. It is mainly aimed at classifying the tunnel portal slope along national highways with using this state evaluation, to use it as basic data so that continuous maintenance can be executed in the future in accordance with danger classes.
