A Development of RSS-based Educational Information System for Providing Adapted Information (맞춤형 정보제공을 위한 RSS 기반 교육정보시스템의 개발)

  • In this study, we develop a RSS-based educational information system for providing users, such as teachers, students, and parents of students with an adapted information. In order to collect an educational information from diverse web pages we design a web-based RSS reader. The RSS reader reads RSS files from the web sites or blogs which provide RSS feeds and then creates XML documents. The created XML documents are classified and registered into the system. Whenever the registered web-pages are updated, the system can automatically collect the updated information and provide the user with it. Therefore the user can be provided a real-time adapted educational information without searching web-sites from the system.

  • IPS(Intrusion Prevention Systems), which is installed in inline mode in a network, protects network from outside attacks by inspecting the incoming/outgoing packets and sessions, and dropping the packet or closing the sessions if an attack is detected in the packet. In the signature based filtering, the payload of a packet passing through IPS is matched with some attack patterns called signatures and dropped if matched. As the number of signatures increases, the time required for the pattern matching for a packet increases accordingly so that it becomes difficult to develop a high performance US working without packet delay. In this paper, we propose a high performance IPS based on signature hashing to make the pattern matching time independent of the number of signatures. We implemented the proposed scheme in a Linux kernel module in a PC and tested it using worm generator, packet generator and network performance measure instrument called smart bit. Experimental results show that the performance of existing method is degraded as the number of signatures increases whereas the performance of the proposed scheme is not degraded.

ARQ Packet Error Control Scheme Using Multiple Threads Based on MMT Protocol (MMT 프로토콜 기반의 다중쓰레드를 활용한 ARQ 패킷 오류 제어 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an ARQ packet error control scheme using multiple threads in delivering massive capacity of multimedia based on MMT(MPEG Media Transport) protocol. On the sending side, each frame that constitutes an image is packetized into MMT packets based on MMT protocol. The header of the packet stores the sequence number of the frames contained in the packet and the time of presentation information. The payload of the packet stores the direct information that comprises the frame. The generated MMT packet is transmitted to the IP network. The receiving side checks if any error has occurred in the received packet. For any identified error, it controls the error through ARQ error control scheme and reconfigure the frame according to the information stored in the header of the received packet. At this point, a multi-threading based transport design is constructed so that each thread takes over a single frame, which increases the transmission efficiency of massive capacity multimedia. The efficiency of the multi-threading transport method is verified by solving the problems that might arise when using a single-thread approach if packets with errors are retransmitted.

A New Integral Variable Structure Regulation Controller for Robot Manipulators with Accurately Predetermined Output Performance (로봇 매니플레이터를 위한 정확한 사전 결정 출력 성능을 갖는 새로운 적분 가변구조 레귤레이션 제어기)

  • In this paper, a new integral variable structure regulation controller(IVSRC) is designed by using a special integral sliding surface and a disturbance observer for the improved regulation control of highly nonlinear robot manipulators with prescribed output performance. The sliding surface having the integral state with a special initial condition is employed in this paper to exactly predetermine the ideal sliding trajectory from a given initial condition to origin without any reaching phase. And a continuous sliding mode input using the disturbance observer is also introduced in oder to effectively follow the predetermined sliding trajectory within the prescribed accuracy without large computation burden. The performance of the prescribed tracking accuracy to the predetermined sliding trajectory is clearly investigated in detail through the two theorems together with the closed loop stability. The design of the proposed IVSRC is separated into the performance design and robustness design in each independent link. The usefulness of the algorithm has been demonstrated through simulation studies on the regulation control of a two link manipulator under parameter uncertainties and payload variations, in view of no reaching phase, no overshoot, predetermined response with prescribed accuracy, easy change of output performance, separation of design phase, and so on.

  • In the environment of Internet of Things (IoT), IoT devices are limited by physical components such as power supply and memory, and also limited to their network performance in bandwidth, wireless channel, throughput, payload, etc. Despite these limitations, resources of IoT devices are shared with other IoT devices. Especially, remote management of the information of devices and patients are very important for the IoT healthcare service, moreover, providing the interoperability between the healthcare device and healthcare platform is essential. To meet these requirements, format of the message and the expressions for the data information and data transmission need to comply with suitable international standards for the IoT environment. However, the ISO/IEEE 11073 PHD (Personal Healthcare Device) standards, the existing international standards for the transmission of health informatics, does not consider the IoT environment, and therefore it is difficult to be applied for the IoT healthcare service. For this matter, we have designed and implemented the IoT healthcare system by applying the oneM2M, standards for the Internet of Things, and ISO/IEEE 11073 DIM (Domain Information Model), standards for the transmission of health informatics. For the implementation, the OM2M platform, which is based on the oneM2M standards, has been used. To evaluate the efficiency of transfer syntaxes between the healthcare device and OM2M platform, we have implemented comparative performance evaluation between HTTP and CoAP, and also between XML and JSON by comparing the packet size and number of packets in one transaction.

Hierarchical Internet Application Traffic Classification using a Multi-class SVM (다중 클래스 SVM을 이용한 계층적 인터넷 애플리케이션 트래픽의 분류)

  • In this paper, we introduce a hierarchical internet application traffic classification system based on SVM as an alternative overcoming the uppermost limit of the conventional methodology which is using the port number or payload information. After selecting an optimal attribute subset of the bidirectional traffic flow data collected from the campus, the proposed system classifies the internet application traffic hierarchically. The system is composed of three layers: the first layer quickly determines P2P traffic and non-P2P traffic using a SVM, the second layer classifies P2P traffics into file-sharing, messenger, and TV, based on three SVDDs. The third layer makes specific classification of the entire 16 application traffics. By classifying the internet application traffic finely or coarsely, the proposed system can guarantee an efficient system resource management, a stable network environment, a seamless bandwidth, and an appropriate QoS. Also, even a new application traffic is added, it is possible to have a system incremental updating and scalability by training only a new SVDD without retraining the whole system. We validate the performance of our approach with computer experiments.

  • The mount of network traffic from the Internet is increasing because of the use of Broadband Convergence Networks(BcN). Network traffic is also increasing because of the development of application, especially multimedia traffic from IPTV, VOD, and online games. This multimedia traffic not only has a huge payload but also should be considered a threat in real time. For this reason, this study examines the ways that routers distribute the bandwidth in accordance to traffic properties. To classify the property of the traffic, it is essential to analyze the application layer. However, the general network processor architecture serially processes the L2-4 and L7 layer. We propose a novel parallel network processor architecture with a global cache that processes L2-4 and L7 in parallel. To verify the proposed architecture, we simulated both of the architecture with SystemC. EEMBC and SNORT was used to measure L2-4 and L7 processing time. When multimedia traffic was entered into the network processor in the same flow, the proposed architecture showed about 85% higher performance than general architecture.

An Efficient Packetization Method for the Real-time Internet Video Transmission (실시간 인터넷 동영상 전송을 위한 효율적인 패킷화 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient packetization method to reduce the packetization overhead. For the purpose, we firstly verify the relationship between packet length and packet loss rate. The empirical results show that as the packet length is larger than the path MTU, the packet loss rate is drastically increased, producing poor visual quality at the receiver side. However, as the length of the packet is reduced, we should transmit more packets per frame and the packetization overhead will be increased. This increase in the packetization overhead reduces the number of bits allocated to the video data, resulting in the low visual quality. Therefore, each packet should be packetized to have the packet length close to the path MTU. In this paper, we show that the this process of the packetization with the constraint on the packet length is very similar to the dynamic storage allocation in the operating system. We had thoroughly surveyed the dynamic storage allocation methods used in the recent operating systems and propose to use the allocation methods for the video packetization. We empirically show that the proposed method can reduce the packetization overhead upto 28.3%, compared with the conventional sequential packetization method which have been widely used in Internet video transmission.

  • A 3-tonf class liquid rocket engine that powers the upper stage of a small launcher and lifts 500 kg payload to 500 km SSO is designed. The small launcher is to utilize the flight-proven technology of the 75-tonf class engine for the first stage. A combination of liquid oxygen and liquid methane has been selected as their cryogenic states can provide an extra boost in specific impulse as well as enable a weight saving via the common dome arrangement. An expander cycle is chosen among others as the low-pressure operation makes it robust and reliable while a specific impulse of over 360 seconds is achievable with the nozzle extension ratio of 120. Key components such as combustion chamber and turbopump are designed for additive manufacturing to a target cost. The engine system provides an evaporated methane for the autogenous pressurization system and the reaction control of the stage. This upper stage propulsion system can be extended to various missions including deep space exploration.

RIA(Rich Internet Application) is group of various technology to implement Web 2.0. It is possible that implement active web pages by many kind of technology that intend to RIA(Rich Internet Application). In this paper I restruct the rent-a-car reservation service page by Flex that popular in these days because of fantastic Animation to compare. effect and comfortable development environment. Therefore It is possible that constructing efficient active page that faster real-time information update and without page-to-page reload.
