  • sub-30fs 펄스폭의 상용 Ti:sapphire 레이저시스템에 대한 펄스압축기 및 2차 조화파 발생기를 제작하여 특성을 평가하였다. 그림la에서 82MHz의 주파수로 모드록되는 상용 Ti:sapphire 레이저 (Spectra-Physics Millennia/Tsunami laser)의 출력이 반사경 Ml, M2를 거쳐 펄스압축기에 입사되고 압축되어 나온 펄스가 다시 M6, M7를 거쳐 2차 조화파발생기로 입사되는 2단구조로 설계되었다. 압축기에 입사되기전 평균파워는 파장 800nm에서 520mW로 측정되었으며, 측정된 스펙트럼 반치폭 47nm에 (그림 2a)에 대해 chirp-free sech$^2$t 펄스로 가정할 경우 본 레이저시스템의 변환한계 펄스폭은 14.5fs로 계산된다.   • Long pulse XeCl excimer laser with 150 ns (FWHM) pulse duration is developed using a simple capacitor-charge transfer circuit. We measured the laser pulse width varying the gas mixture ratio and capacitance ratio, which dominantly affect the pulse width. In this way we can easily stretch the pulse width from short pulse to long pulse. The pulse width was stretched by 120 ns as the partial pressure of HC1 and Xe gas was reduced under constant gas mixture ratio ([Xe]/[HCl]= 15), and by varying the capacitance ratio (Cm/Cp) under fixed pressure, the pulse width was stretched by 60 ns.

  • Full-HD 구현이 가능하고, 패널 전체에 priming 방전을 동시에 일으킬 수 있는 새로운 고속구동법인 표시기간 중첩 프라이밍 방전 기술의 초기화 펄스 특성을 연구하였다. ramp 펄스를 이용한 약방전으로 초기화 방전을 일으킬 경우 램프 기울기가 작아질 수록 불필요한 광을 줄일 수 있어 명암비가 높아지므로 프라이밍 펄스폭을 증가시키는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 본 논문에서는 ramp의 기울기를 변화시키며 안정적인 표시방전이 유지되는 ramp 펄스폭을 실험을 통해 확인하였고, 그 결과 $200{\mu}s$(ramp 기울기 $1.45V/{\mu}s$)의 ramp 펄스폭에서도 표시방전이 안정적으로 발생한다는 것을 알았다.

  • The discharge characteristics of 3 electrcdes AC surface discharge plasma display were analyzed. For an unstable state of the discharge which appeared at the maximum discharge voltage, it is found that a parbal erase of the wall charge by the second discharge is a cause. Based on the second discharge, new operation margin considering the interrelation between the address discharge and the display discharge was defined and the validity of it was verified by the experiments. It is necessary to decrease the acklress pulse width for high-speed addressing. However, the operation margin of the ackIress pulse decreases as the pulse width of it becomes narrower. If the address pulse width is wider than l[ps], the operation margin of the display discharge is not related to the address pulse width. From the experimental result, image or 8bit 253 gray level was displayed on PDP with the cell structure of the HDTV class by using the high-speed address ADS drive methcd with pulse width of $1[{\mu}s]$ and the brightness of $560[cd/m^2]$ was obtained. ained.

  • We demonstrate a new pulse characterization scheme relying on self-heterodyning that uses intracavity frequency shifter in a fiber soliton laser with frequency shifted feedback. By heterodyning the frequency-shifted pulse stream with the unshifted one, and by measuring the beat strength with varying the delay length between two pulse streams, we obtain the amplitude autocorrelation function from which we estimate the pulsewidth. The result is in good agreement with that obtained by the autocorrelation relying on the second harmonic generation.

  • 본 연구에서는 sustain 펄스의 개수와 폭의 변화에 따른 sustain 방전의 휘도특성을 측정하였다. 실험을 위하여 PDP 구동실험장치에 사용하는 디지털 시스템과 고전압 펄스 driver 회로부를 개발하였다. 실험결과, 1TV-field 동안 인가되는 sustain 펄스의 개수가 증가할수록 휘도는 완만한 포화곡선을 나타내며 증가하였고 펄스의 폭이 좁아질수록 휘도가 증가하였다. 그리고 펄스폭에 대한 휘도의 증가 정도는 펄스의 개수가 증가할수록 커졌다.

High power tunable Ti:sapphire laser with sub-40fs pulsewidth (40펨토초 미만 펄스폭의 고출력 파장가변 티타늄사파이어 레이저)

  • We have utilized soft-aperturing by gain media to develop a high-power tunable Ti:Sapphire laser with sub-40-fs and broad tuning range. The tunable spectral range was only limited by the bandwidth of mirrors. We made use of knife-edge slits near an intra-cavity prism controlled by micro-stepping-motors to tune the center wavelength continuously. The tunability of the center wavelength was ranged from 770 nm to 870 nm, and the measured pulsewidth was sub-40 fs throughout the above spectral range. The shortest pulsewidth was about 17 fs at the center wavelength of 820 nm and the spectral bandwidth was 72 nm. At 5 W pumping power of the Ar-ion laser we obtained average output power of 440 mW~580 mW. For the cw and Kerr-lens mode-lodking conditions, we have evaluated the value of an amplitude modulation to be ${\gamma}=2.5{\times}10^{-8}/W$ from the calculated waists of a Gaussian beam on the Ti:sapphire crystal surface. Using this result we demonstrate that the generation of sub-40-fs Kerr-lens mode-locked pulse can be described by the Ginzberg-Landau model which is a weak pulse shaping model.

  • This paper proposes CMOS optical receivers to reduce effective area and pulse width distortion (PWD) in high definition digital audio interfaces. To mitigate effective area and PWD, proposed receivers include a frans-impedance amplifier (TIA) with dual output and a level shifter with threshold convergence, respectively. Proposed circuits are fabricated using $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS process and measured result demonstrated the effective area of $270\times120{\mu}m^2$ and PWD of ${\pm}3%$ for the receiver with a dual output TIA, and the effective area of $410\times140{\mu}m^2$ and PWD of ${\pm}2%$ for the receiver with a threshold convergence level shifter.

  • The transform limited optical short pulses are generated by compression of pulses from a gain switched distributed feedback laser at 5 GHz repetition rate. The gain-switched pulses have the minimum pulse width of 27 psec with the spectral width of 1.1 nm. Thus the output pulses have a large amount of linear chirp and nonlinear chirp. We suppress the nonlinear chirp by passing the pulses through the optical band pass filter with 3 dB band width of 0.55 nm which is narrower than spectral width of the input pulses and generate 7.1 psec pulses by compressing the output with the dispersion compensating fiber. The pulses have time-bandwidth product of 0.49 which is close to the transform limited gaussian pulse. These pulses can be utilized as optical sources in 40 Gbit/s time division multiplexed optical transmission system.

  • The propagation properties of various pulse signal types(square pulse, Gaussian pulse, trapezoid pulse, RF pulse) on coupled microstrip lines are investigated. Numerical integration technique which has its accuracy and is easily simulated, is used to obtain the time domain response of pulse signals. Frequency-dependent characteristics of coupled microstrip line is obtained using Jansen's approximate equation. The propagation properties of pulse signal on coupled microstrip lines is analyzed regarding to its geometric structure (relative permittivity ${varepsilon}_r$ substrate height h, strip width w of the microstrip line) and pulse width ${\tau}$ of signal pulse. The simulation results show that space between two lines is very significant parameter in pulse distortion in comparison of any other parameters. The results of this paper are compatible to the trade-off determination of relative permittivity, substrate height, strip width and pulse width of signal pulse when a design of MIC and MMIC is necessary.
