A Preliminary Study on Structure of the Wooden Printing Blocks in Japan - Based on the 3D Measurement Method - (일본 판목의 구조에 대한 기초연구 - 3D 계측을 통한 조사를 중심으로 -)

  • This study reviews the structure of wooden printing blocks in Japan, focusing on the blocks as three-dimensional objects. Inspection is more effective three-dimensionally than two-dimensionally, and for the first time in wooden printing block research, the study uses a 3D CT scanner and a high-resolution 3D digitizer. The 3D CT scanner examines cross sections of the blocks and identifies their grain and contents, including insects surviving within them. The 3D digitizer enables observation of objects up to 0.02 mm; this allows detailed collection of block surface information, which is difficult to identify with a conventional microscope.

Bonding Properties and Resin Exudation Characteristics of Pitch Pine (리기다소나무재의 수지 삼출성과 접착 특성)

  • In order to use Pitch pine (Pinus rigida Miller) as the material of the structural glued laminated timber, the effect of the amount of resin exudation due to storage time after the planning and the knot of the lamina were evaluated on the bonding properties of the glued board with resorcinol resin. For Pitch pine that was dried at high temperature ($120{\sim}95^{\circ}C$) and low temperature ($65{\sim}50^{\circ}C$), the flat sawn(tangential section) showed higher amount of resin exudation than the quarter sawn(radial section). And the low temperature drying wood showed higher resin exudation than the high temperature drying wood. The low and high temperature drying wood showed the highest amount of resin exudation on the 3rd day and 7th day, respectively and they were gradually decreased. However, there were no significant differences from 15 to 90 days. Adhesion performances were low until 2~3 days with high exudation of resin, but there were no significant differences after 15 days. Both high temperature and low temperature drying woods satisfied the Korean standard regardless of the storage time. The adhesive strengths of the laminating parts including knots were higher than those of KS criteria, but the wood failures were not satisfied the KS standard. Adhesive performances according to the laminating combinations (quarter sawn + quarter sawn, flat sawn + flat sawn, quarter sawn + flat sawn) were better than those of KS criteria in all laminating combinations in both high temperature and low temperature drying woods.

  • This study dealts with the penetration of methyl methacrylate(MMA) monomer-solvent system into five Korean major tree species, especially the Pinus koraiensis S. et Z., Pinus densiflora S. et Z., Larix leptoiepis Gordon, Quercus serrata Thunb. and Betula platyphylla var japonica Hara. In this report I described the results of the interaction between wood and polymer loading by catalyst-heat polymerization. On the other hand the influence of penetration of polymer loading on dimensional stabilization on WPC of Pinus koraiensis by catalyst-heat polymerization was also investigated.

  • European spruce and maple were to be estimated as raw material of violin family instruments with linear modal analysis to provide the information data for the design of their bodies. Wood specimens cut in different direction were excited by impact hammer to measure the resonant frequency with typical vibrational modes. In spite of lower density than maple, European spruce showed the excellent acoustical properties with higher resonant frequency. And edge-grained spruce had more even frequencies than flat-grained ones to be more acceptable as front plate of violin. Resonant frequency was positively correlated with wood density of each specimen and the coefficients of edge-grained specimens were higher than those of flat-grained specimens of both wood species.

A Study on the Compilation and Revision of Texts in the Nam-chungjanggong-sigo ("남충장공시고"의 편차와 산절에 관한 연구)

  • This study is a bibliographical analysis on the Nam-Chungjanggong-sigo(남충장공시고), a wooden block printed book. On the view of physical bibliography, a table of contents on the Nam-Chungjanggong-sigo is compiled by a preface, a Chungjanggong's poetical works, an extra appendixes and an epilogue; and its wooden printing block has made of 52 plates. On the row of textual bibliography, text of Chungjanggong's poetical works is revised second times, such as each title or text, also title and text; and shorten for verses. And some of verses are prepared for revised the same case of compilation, but omitted in the process of last compilation.

송본"상한론"에 대한 고찰

  • 본 논문에서는 먼저 조개미(趙開美)${\ulcorner}$중경전서(仲景全書)${\lrcorner}$중의 ${\ulcorner}$상한론(傷寒論)${\lrcorner}$에 ‘초각(初刻)’과 ‘보각(補刻)’의 구별이 있음을 밝혔다. 초각본(初刻本)은 일본(日本) 풍산비부(楓山秘府)에 소장되어 있는데 오자(誤字)나 궐문(闕文)이 많고 서구(書口)가 일정하지 않다. 이것을 일본(日本) 안정삼년(安政三年) (1856년(年))에 굴천제모(川濟摹)가 새겼는데, 굴천제본(川濟本)(안정본(安政本)이라고도 함)이 중국에 미친 영향은 매우 크다. 조개미(趙開美)는 원판(原版)의 판목상(板木上)에서 오자(誤字)를 바로잡고 궐문(闕文)을 보충하였으며 서구(書口)를 정렬하였는데 이것이 ‘보각(補刻)’본(本)이다. 보각본(補刻本)은 현재 대만 고궁박물원도서관(故宮博物院圖書館)과 중의연구원도서관(中硏究院圖書館)에 소장되어 있다. 북경국가도서관(北京國家圖書館)에 소장되어 있는 것은 대만본의 마이크로필름이다. 1923년(年)에 운철초가 안정본(安政本)을 저본으로 삼아 영인(影印)하고 이를 송본(宋本)${\ulcorner}$상한론(傷寒論)${\lrcorner}$이라고 칭하면서 많은 사람들이 헷갈리게 되었다. 1990년(年)에 류도주(劉渡舟)가 처음으로 북경국가도서관(北京國家圖書館)에 소장된 송본(宋本)${\ulcorner}$상한론(傷寒論)${\lrcorner}$마이크로필름을 저본으로 교주(校注)한 이후에 비로소 송본(宋本)의 전문(全文)을 볼 수 있게 되었다. 여러 판본을 자세히 비교해본 결과 초각본(初刻本)과 보각본(補刻本)에 많은 차이점이 있을 뿐만 아니라, 초각본(初刻本) 사이에도 다른 점이 있음을 발견하였는데, 쉽게 이해하기 힘든 측면이 있다.

Analysis and Classification of Acoustic Emission Signals During Wood Drying Using the Principal Component Analysis (주성분 분석을 이용한 목재 건조 중 발생하는 음향방출 신호의 해석 및 분류)

  • In this study, acoustic emission (AE) signals due to surface cracking and moisture movement in the flat-sawn boards of oak (Quercus Variablilis) during drying under the ambient conditions were analyzed and classified using the principal component analysis. The AE signals corresponding to surface cracking showed higher in peak amplitude and peak frequency, and shorter in rise time than those corresponding to moisture movement. To reduce the multicollinearity among AE features and to extract the significant AE parameters, correlation analysis was performed. Over 99% of the variance of AE parameters could be accounted for by the first to the fourth principal components. The classification feasibility and success rate were investigated in terms of two statistical classifiers having six independent variables (AE parameters) and six principal components. As a result, the statistical classifier having AE parameters showed the success rate of 70.0%. The statistical classifier having principal components showed the success rate of 87.5% which was considerably than that of the statistical classifier having AE parameters.
