Performance evaluation for the channel estimation of RLS adaptive algorithm using pilot symbols for IMT-2000 system (IMT-2000 시스템의 파일럿 심볼을 이용한 RLS 적응형 채널추정 알고리즘의 성능 평가)

  • This paper presents the performance evaluation of channel estimation algorithm using RLS algorithm lot W-CDMA reverse link over Rayleigh fading channels. By obtaining BER(Bit Error Rate) performance through computer simulations, the RLS(Recursive Least Square) algorithm is compared with the existing WMSA(Weighted Averaging)(K=1,3) and constant gain algorithm. The channel structure, modulation and pilot patterns are applied to the ARIB (Association of Radio Industries and Business) and 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) ITU-R proposal for the IMT-2000. The BER performance of RLS algorithm with linear interpolation is similar to that of WMSA(K=1) and slightly superior to that of constant gain algorithm at low Doppler frequencies. Also, RLS algorithm performance is better than that of the WMSA(K=1,3) and constant gain algorithms about 4dB at BER=2.0$\times$$10^{-2}$ and Doppler frequencies $F_D$=320Hz. With increasing Doppler frequency, therefore, the BER performance of RLS algorithm with linear interpolation is superior to WMSA(K=L.3) and constant rain algorithms.

  • In this paper, a novel pilot-aided integer frequency offset estimation scheme is proposed for orthogonal Sequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based digital video broadcasting (DVB) systems. The conventional pilot-aided integer frequency offset estimation scheme proposed for OFDM-based DVB systems exploits the partial information of combinations provided by pilots. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel integer frequency offset estimation scheme exploiting all information of pilot combinations. To compare the performance of the proposed scheme with that of the conventional scheme, we conduct a simulation in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and multipath Rayleigh channels, which shows that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the probability of integer frequency offset estimation failure.

  • In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems, Narrow-Band Jamming (NBJ) over pilot tones used for channel estimation degrades the system performance. In this paper, we propose a new jammed pilot detection and elimination algorithm to overcome this problem. Moreover, the average Mean-Squared Error (MSE) on one OFDM symbol both under jammed and removed pilot subcarrier is analyzed. And then, the Symbol Error Rate (SER) performance of the channel estimation scheme using the proposed algorithm is evaluated by simulation. We can confirm that the channel estimator with the proposed algorithm improves the channel estimation performance at a high jamming power.

  • In this paper, this study is aimed how to estimate the position of scattered pilot to be used to estimate channel in the OFDM System. The proposed method is possible to estimate the accurate position of scattered pilot to remove the phase error through cross-correlation between received signal and 4 symbol delay received signal.

  • We have evaluated the BER's and CLP's of Wireless ATM (WATM) cells employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols for fading compensation through the simulation in indoor wireless channel modeled as a Rayleigh and a Rician fading channel, respectively. The results of the performance evaluation are compared with those obtained by employing the convolutional code in the same condition. In Rayleigh fading channel, considering the maximum tolerance BER ( $10^-3$) as a criterion of the voice service, it is blown that the performance improvement of about 4 dB is obtained in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols rather than the convolutional code with pilot symbols.When the values of K parameter which means the ratio of the direct signal to scattered signal power in Rician fading channel are 6 and 10, it is shown that the performance improvement of about 4 dB and 2 dB is obtained, respectively, in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols considering the maximum tolerance BER of the voice service. Also in Rician fading channel of K=6 and K= 10, considering CLP = $10^-3$ as a criterion, it is observed that the performance improvement of about 3.5 dB and1.5 dB is obtained, respectively, in terms of $E_b/N_o$ by employing the concatenated FEC code with pilot symbols.

  • In this paper, we proposed new fast scattered pilot synchronization techniques to reduce the burst synchronization time for the DVB-H receiving system with robustness. DVB-H terminals employ a TDM system called 'Time-Slicing' to reduce power consumption. In order to fully exploit the potential power reduction, the synchronization time for the DVB-H receiver must be very short. A typical DVB-T system uses the TPS Synchronization to determine the position of scattered pilots which are used for channel estimation, and it takes 68 OFDM symbol time. In this paper, several new fast scattered pilot synchronization techniques are proposed.

  • 현재 다양한 통신 표준에서 채택되고 있는 OFDM 시스템에 비해 주파수를 더욱 효율적으로 이용해야 하는 요구가 증가함에 따라 FBMC/OQAM 시스템이 주목을 받고 있다. 수신단에서 알고 있는 파일럿 심볼을 이용한다는 관점에서 FBMC/OQAM 시스템에서의 채널 추정 방식은 OFDM의 채널 추정 방식과 유사하지만 FBMC/OQAM 시스템의 고유한 간섭으로 인해 OFDM 시스템의 채널 추정 방식에 비해 추가적인 기법이 필요하다. 이러한 간섭에 대처할 수 있는 방법으로 보조 파일럿을 사용하는 방법에 대해 알아보고, 연속적인 파일럿 패턴에 적용하는 데 제한이 있는 보조 파일럿 방식에 대해 간섭을 상쇄할 수 있는 기법을 적용한 후 성능을 측정하였다.

  • CMMB(China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting)는 중국에서 개발된 이동 방송 시스템이다. CMMB는 시간 동기와 주파수 동기를 획득하기 위해 프레임에 포함된 두 개의 동기 신호와 OFDM 심볼을 이용한다. 이는 OFDM 심볼의 연속파일럿과 분산 파일럿을 이용하는 기존의 이동 방송시스템과 달리 CMMB를 위한 특화된 동기 알고리듬이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문은 CMMB의 프레임 구조에 적합한 시간 동기 알고리듬에 대하여 연구하였다. 제안 알고리듬은 CMMB의 동기신호를 이용하여 상관값을 구한 후 1차와 2차로 나누어 경계값을 초과 하는 값을 검색하여 프레임의 시작점으로 추정한다. 제안된 알고리듬은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로 검증하였으며 다중 경로 상황에서도 우수한 성능을 보인다.

  • Multi-carrier CDMA technique is more attractive in wireless communication system. It can support the effect of frequency diversity with higher spectral efficiency. In this paper, pilot symbol structure was proposed to estimate chann디 paramenters for MC-CDMA system and we analyzed the perfoemance of proposed MC-CDMA which compensates the received signals using the pilot symbols for link transmission. At first, we proposed the new method of pilot's usage for reverse link transmission that can distinguish accessing users whose signals undergo diggerent channels. And we analyzed the performance of coherent MC-CDMA reception using estimated channel parameters

  • In this paper, the problem of decoding transmitted data sequence with diversity reception in the presence of nondelective fading is studied. The expection maximizaton (EM) algorithm is employed to derive an interactive algorithm. The algorithm performs block-by-block coherent decoding with the aid of pilot symbols. It is shown that the complexity of the algorithm grows linearly as a function of sequence length. The performance of the algorithm is shown to better than that of the conventional pilot symbol aided (PSI) algorithm. Simulation results are presented to assess the performance of the algorithm and the results are compared with that of the conventional PSI alforithm.
