Characteristics of Random Jitter in Analog Fiber-Optic Links Employing a Mach-Zehnder Modulator and an EDFA (마하-젠더 광 변조기와 EDFA를 사용한 아날로그 광통신 링크의 랜덤 지터 특성)

  • We investigate the characteristics of RJ (random jitter) in an analog fiber-optic link employing a MZM (Mach-Zehnder modulator) and an EDFA (Erbium-doped fiber amplifier). RJ has been measured using two methods, one of which derived from the noise spectrum of a RF spectrum analyzer and the other from the histogram data of a sampling oscilloscope. If the optical power and/or the RF power input to the MZM increase, RJ decreases due to the output signal power increase. For the optical link without EDFA, the minimum RJ is about 1 ps at an RF power of 10 dBm and an optical power of 8 dBm measured using the noise spectrum method. For the optical link with an EDFA, RJ decreases toward a jitter floor as the EDFA gain increases. If the gain increases further, it has been observed that RJ increases from the minimum. If the EDFA gain is fixed, RJ is smaller for the case of larger optical input power. As the EDFA gain increases, RJ reduction rate becomes greater for the case of lower optical input power.

  • The trolley carrying the pod moves along by the airfield runway. The pod through the trolley are subjected to vibration arising from the ground state, the precision optical components in the pod can have a significant impact. The road tests were conducted by using the measurement pod to remove the risk for the project. The measurement pod was composed with the ACRA, sensors, battery. The accelerometers were attached to get the acceleration through the road condition. The PSD envelop was calculated by FFT from the acceleration. The driving safety was proven through comparing the measurement data and MIL-STD-810G specification.

중력이상을 이용한 한반도 모호면 추출에 관한 연구

  • 중력이상 및 수치고도모델을 이용하여 한반도 모호면 심도를 추출하였다 중력이상값은 인공위성고도레이더 관폭값을 주로 이용한 전지구 모델을 이용하여 데이터영역 뿐 만 아니라 주파수영역에서도 자료의 균질성을 확보하였다. 모호면 추출은 Kim et al. [2000a]에 의해 제안된 스펙트럼 대비법 및 후리에급수를 이용한 파워스펙트럼분석법을 이용하였다. 전자는 지각근형을 전제로, 지형에 의한 중력효과와 후리에어 중력이상을 파동수영역에서 대비하여 모호면의 심도를 계산하는 방법이고, 후자는 완전부우게 중력이상으로부터 푸리에변환을 이용하여 지하 밀도 변화층의 심도를 계산하는 방법이다. 이 두 모호면은 서로 0.53의 상관관계를 갖고 있으며, 이는 모호면 산출의 방법론적인 차이 및 계산상의 오차인 것으로 사료된다. 이렇게 두 가지 독립적인 방법으로 추출된 모호면을 하나로 통합하기 위한 한 방법으로, 두 모호면의 차이를 계산한 후, 이를 최소자승법을 이용, 두 모호면을 보정하였다. 결과적으로 한반도의 최종 모호면의 평균심도는 32.0km, 표준편차는 2.5km 이며, 최소, 최대 심도는 20.3, 36.6km으로 나타났다. 이 경우 지형에 의한 중력효과는 스펙트럼대비법에 의해 제거된 결과이나, 한반도의 지각이 완전한 지각판 내에 놓여 있어서 Airy-Heiskanin 지각균형설의 가정이 타당성이 있는가, 혹은 국부적인 응력장에 의해 한반도의 지각이 과연 얼마나 지지되고 있는가 하는 것에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요하며, 이에 앞서, 일정한 밀도차를 갖는 연속적인 밀도변화층이 존재한다는 가정이 반드시 필요하다.에는 관련성을 갖고 있으며, 이는 유류 분해정도를 파악하는 지시자로써 특정 무기 오염물질을 이용할 수 있을 가능성이 있으므로 좀더 이들 관계성에 대한 연구가 진행될 필요성이 있다고 판단된다.고 과학적으로 분석할 수 있는 방법이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 의미를 되새기는 것으로 짧은 연구를 시작하겠다. 등은 활성 값이 70% 이상으로 퇴적물 독성이 상대적으로 낮았다. 이중나선 DNA 함량은 28.4 % - 49%로 대조군에 비해서 감소가 크다. 대부분의 정점이 대조군의 30% 내외로 정점 간의 차이는 크지는 않다. 그러나 다른 측정자료와 같이 정점 22에서 18%로 최소치를 나타내고, 정점 2, 12에서 20% 내외의 값을 보인다. 종합적으로 볼 때 오염물질의 유입이 크고, 광양제철 인근 정점 들이 모두 다른 정점에 비해서 낮아서, 퇴적물 독성이 높은 정점으로 조사되었다.hiwo의 광합성 능력은 낮은 농도들에서는 대조구와 유사하였으나, 5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l의 높은 농도에서는 초기에 매우 낮은 광합성 능력을 보이다가 시간이 경과하면서 대조군보다 더 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 식물플랑크톤이 benso[a]pyrene의 낮은 농도에서 노출될 때는 이 물질을 탄소원으로 사용할 가능성이 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구의 결과들은 연안해역에 benso[a]pyrene과 같은 지속성 유기오염물질이 유입되었을 때 내정여부에 따라 식물플랑크톤 군집내 종 천이와 일차생산력에 크게 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.TEX>5.2개)였으며, 등급별 회수율은 각각 GI(8.5%), GII

A Study on Geophysical Characteristics and Regional Geological Structures of the Southwestern Yellow Sea of Korea using Gravity and Magnetic Data (중력 및 자력자료를 이용한 황해 남서부해역의 지구물리학적 특성 및 광역 지구조 연구)

  • Gravity and Magnetic survey data were analyzed to investigate the geophysical characteristics and regional geological structures of the southwestern Yellow Sea. The set of data about the southwestern part of the Yellow Sea in Korea was one collected by the Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute (KORDI) in 2003, 2004, and 2005. The Yellow Sea has a few basins and the study area also includes parts of the Heuksan Basin and the East China Sea Basin. The bathymetry of the study area ranges from about ?40 m southwestward near China to about 150 m northeastward near Korea. The bathymetry has the gentle rise and fall and the smooth slope. The gravity anomalies, from sea surface gravity and satellite gravity data, reflect the basement rocks rather than the smooth bathymetry. The gravity anomalies are higher on Northeastern part of the study area and lower over the South of the Heuksan Basin. The analytic signal from the Bouguer anomaly shows higher anomalous zones near the boundaries of the basins. The magnetic anomalies and the analytic signal, from the magnetic data, suggest that the complex anomalies on the Northern part are attributed to the volcanic intrusions and that the smooth patterns in the Southern part are based on the lack of the intrusions. The power spectrum analysis of the Bouguer anomalies and the magnetic anomalies indicate that the depth to the Moho discontinuity varies from about 30.2 to 28.3 km and that the depths of the basement rocks and the Eocene discontinuity range from about 8.4 to 8 km and from about 1.5 to 1.7 km, respectively. The inversion of the Bouguer anomaly shows that the Moho depth to the Western part of the study area near China is slightly deeper than the Eastern part near Korea. The result of 2-D gravity modeling has a good coherence with the results of the analytic signal, the power spectrum analysis, and the inversion.

A Review on Correlation between Music and Learning Activity Using EEG Signal Analysis (뇌파분석을 이용한 음악이 학습활동에 미치는 영향에 대한 고찰)

  • In this paper, we analyzed through the EEG signals how musical stimulus affects learning activities. Musical stimuli were divided into sedative and stimulative tendency music, preferred and non-preferred music, and the learning activity tasks were divided into mathematics tasks and memorization tasks. The signals measured in the EEG experiments were analyzed with the power spectrum of SMR waves known to be related to human concentration. Those spectra used for quantitative comparison in this paper. As a result the power of the EEG signals was observed to be greater than the case where music was given as a stimulus. Regardless of the type of task, the power of the EEG signals was observed to be greater in the case of sedative tendency than in the case of stimulative tendency, and the power of the EEG signals was observed to be greater in the case of favorite music than in the case of unfavorite music. From these results, it is estimated that if the musical stimulus exists, in the case of sedative tendency music, and in the case of favorite music, concentration can be increased than in the relative case.

Periodic Variation of Water Table at a Headwater Catchment in the Gwangneung Ecohydrological Research Site (광릉 수문연구부지 내 원두부 소유역에서 지하수면의 주기적 변동 특성)

  • Periodic fluctuation of water levels were analyzed for their causes and effects on groundwater movement. Groundwater levels were monitored from two shallow monitoring wells, G1 and G4, located at a headwater catchment in the Gwangneung Ecohydrological Research Site using pressure transducers with automatic data-loggers by five-minute interval from February to October, 2006. The water table fluctuates on a daily basis with a clear diurnal variation, and the fluctuation amplitude increases with time from the winter to the summer. Results from spectral analysis of water-level data show periodic variations in 24.38 hour and in 12.19 hour, indicating $P_1$ diurnal and $L_2$ semidiurnal tidal components, respectively. The diurnal component of the water level in summer has greater power than that in winter, implying that the water table is affected not only by earth tides, but also by evapotranspiration. Right after rain stops, the power of diurnal component of the water level decreases, indicating that evapotranspiration influences significantly diurnal periodicity. The effects of diurnal and semidiurnal components of the water level range from 0.4 to 4.2 cm and from 0.2 to 0.7 cm, respectively.

  • The manufacturing errors such as pitch error and run-out error in planetary gear system bring about the irregular displacement of the center of each gear, which cause the torqe variation, vibration and noise. In this study, the relation between manufacturing errors and error motions of the center of gear was analyzed, and it can be applied to identyfy the errors of gears by investigating the measured locus of the center of each gear. Also, another identification method of power spectrum estimation using FFT algorithm was introduced, which analyze the frequency of the measured error motions. The results show that the error of each gear had a corresponding unique frequency, therefore, this method proved to be more effective.

  • Lasing characteristics of an Er-doped fiber laser have been investigated at various conditions of resonator reflectivities and pump powers. Variation of the laser wavelength with various mirror reflectivities has been compared with the theoretical analysis based on absorption, gain spectra, and resonator parameters. The maximum slope efficiency of 38% was obtained with the resonator's mirror reflectivities of 100% and 4% on both sides, and the threshold powers were varied from 7.8 mW to 5.6 mW, and lasing wavelengths were varied $1.532\mum to 1.563\mum and 1.558 \mum to 1.570 \mum$ for 6 and 15.8 mlong Er-doped fiber, respectively, as the resonator reflectivities were changed from 0.0016 to 0.9.to 0.9.

A Study of EEG Analysis for the Moxibustion Stimulation (간접 뜸 자극에 관한 EEG 분석)

  • Although research efforts for brain waves have prospered in medicine and engineering, acupuncture still has a long way to go regarding researches on brain waves analysis. Thus this study set out to analyze brain waves stimulated by indirect mugwort moxibustion, which was part of acupuncture techniques, and to investigate their correlations with the automatic nervous system. For the experiments, stimulation was given to Jungwan, Shingwol and Gwanwon, which were some of the spots on the body suitable for acupuncture, through indirect mugwort moxibustion. The subjects' brain waves were measured before the stimulation, during the stimulation, and one hour and two hours after the stimulation. The measurements were analyzed with Matlab 7.0 for FFT and frequency power spectrum. Then the ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\delta}$, and ${\theta}$ waves were analyzed and examined for changes to the percentage of each frequency and to the amplitude of vibration according to the stages of stimulation. The EEG data of the entire brain were translated into FFT to analyze the percentage of the ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\delta}$, and ${\theta}$ waves. As a result, the ${\alpha}$ waves recorded a double increase after the stimulation. The power spectrum analysis results of the entire brain decreased the ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ waves dropping in the energy level, which suggested that the parasympathetic nerves were activated. When the results of the study were compared with those of the previous study, it's confirmed that indirect moxibustion stimulation could cause changes to the automatic nervous system and bring stability to those who were nervous or under stress due to the proportionate increase of the ${\alpha}$ waves.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effects of musical stimuli on humans in performing mathematical tasks through EEG measurements. The musical stimuli were divided into preferred music and non-preferred music, and mathematical tasks were divided into memorization task and procedure task. The data measured in the EEG experiments was divided into frequency bands of Theta, SMR, and Mid-beta because of the concentration. In our results, preferred music causes more positive emotional response than no music and non-preferred music regardless of the type of mathematical task.
