Transmittance Properties of Fishing Lamp in Stick-held Dip Net Fishing Vessel for Pacific Saury (꽁치봉수망 집어등 불빛의 수중 투과 특성)

  • The transmittance properties of fishing lamp in stick-held dip net fishing vessel for Pacific saury was investigated during nighttime operations in the North Pacific on May 19 and 24, 2003. The incandescent lamps of red color (750W${\times}$100) and halogen lamps (750W${\times}$521) were used as a fishing lamp for gathering Pacific saury. The relative irradiance of red incandescent lamp and halogen lamp in the air showed peak in 1,052nm of wave length. However, the irradiance of halogen lamp below 600nm of wave length was higher than that of incandescent lamp. The relationship between underwater illuminance (Y) and water depth (X) of sunlight in the observation areas A (37$^{\circ}$ 11'N, 178$^{\circ}$ 46'W) and B (31$^{\circ}$ 11'N, 178$^{\circ}$ 01'E) is represented as follows; $Y=2572.2{\cdot}e^{-0.0721X},\;R^2=0.9915$ $Y=3312.4{\cdot}e^{-0.0619X},\;R^2=0.9837$ The distribution of underwater illuminance of observation areas A and B showed low value of 0.31x and 0.61x in 50m depth, respectively. In the fishing grounds of Pacific saury, the light intensity of distribution depth was above 0.51x.

Assessment of Analytical Performance of Open-path Monitoring System: Tests of DOAS System in Relationship with Meteorological Conditions (광투과 관측시스템의 분석기능 평가: 기상인자에 따른 DOAS 시스템의 검정)

  • To evaluate the influence of meteorological conditions on the performance of DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) system, we analyzed the concentrations of three criteria pollutants and relevant environmental parameters measured during 14 month periods between Jun. 1999 and Oct. 2000. According to our study, the performance of DOAS can be sensitively influenced via various manners (such as among different chemicals and/or between different time periods). It turns out that O$_3$ exhibits most frequently the weakest agreement between two systems. When comparison was made among different meteorological parameters, the strongest variability was seen from such ones as windspeed, wind direction, and irradiance. In addition, the absolute differences in measured concentrations between two systems were compared against various environmental parameters by means of linear regression analysis. Results of this analysis indicated that the differences between the two tend to decrease with the increase of such parameters as windspeed. It is thus concluded on the basis of our study that the simultaneous evaluation of meteorological data should be an essential step toward the accurate assessment of pollutant concentration data obtained by DOAS measurement system.

  • We have studied the properties of Ag/undoped ZnO (ZnO) multilayer thin films deposited on glass substrate by the facing targets sputtering method. In an attempt to find out the optimum conditions of the Ag thin film, which would be coated on the ZnO thin film, we investigated the changes of sheet resistance, transmittance and surface morphology as a function of deposition times and the substrate temperature. The electrical and optical characteristics of Ag/ZnO multilayers were evaluated by a four-point probe, a UV/VIS spectrometer with a spectral range of 390-770 nm, a X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), an atomic force microscope (AFM) and a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), respectively. We were able to prepare the Ag/ZnO multilayer thin film with sheet resistance of 9.25 $\Omega/sq.$ and transmittance of over 80% at 550nm.

A Study on the Gelation of Starch (전분의 젤화에 관한 연구 -강남콩 조전분 및 정제전분의 이화학적 특성-)

  • The physicochemical properties of kidney bean crude and refined starch were investigated. The results were as follows : Amylose content of refined starch was 77%. Blue values of crude and refined starch were 0.375 and 0.410, respectively. Ferricyanide numbers of crude and refined starch were 1.00 and 1.94, respectively, and alkalinumbers of crude and refined starch were 8.67 and 6.90, respectively. Amylose had molecular weight of 18067 and degree of polymerization was 112. Amylopectin had degree of branching of 3.7 per 100 glucose units and glucose units of 27 per segment of amylopectin. Water binding capacities of crude and refined starch were 202.1% and 169.4%, respectively. Both swelling powers of crude and refined starch were increased rapidly from $70^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ and their curves showed a single-stage pattern. The optical transmittance of 0.2% crude starch suspension was increased rapidly from $80^{\circ}C$ to $83^{\circ}C$ and that of 0.2% refined starch suspension was increased rapidly from $77^{\circ}C$ to $83^{\circ}C$. Brabender hot-paste viscosities of crude and refined starch at 6% and 8% concentation (solid basis) showed the similar amylogram patterns of c type with no peak vircosity.

  • The importance of radiation dose display of medical X-ray equipment was emphasized, while third edition of IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) 60601 started to apply. The existing medical X-ray equipment selected a method for attaching the DAP(Dose Area Product) meter when the dose display. However, because the DAP meter was dependent on all of the income, And it did not yet produced in Korea. So, we received the support of Seoul R&BD Program(Grants No. C1152055) to produce DAP meter prototype of the Domestically technology. In this study, the performance of this prototype was evaluated by comparing the German company's product Evaluation item was an electronic capture performance, radiation dose dependence, radiation quality dependence, energy transmittance, repeatability, light transmittance of 6 entries. And IEC 60580 was based on this evaluation. Evaluation results were electronic capture performance intrinsic error 9.5%, radiation dose dependence limits of variation 1%, repeatability coefficient of variation 2%, energy transmittance 91% each assessment was passed. However radiation quality dependence limits of variation 29%, light transmittance 55% was less than acceptance criteria.

Fluorination of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) Film and Its Surface Characterization (폴리메틸메타아크릴레이트(PMMA) 필름의 불소화 및 그 표면특성)

  • In this study, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was treated with changing mixing ratios of $F_2$ and $O_2$ using oxyfluorination method for hydrophilic modification of PMMA film. For the characterizations of oxyfluorinated PMMA surface, contact angle, surface free energy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and optical transmittance (UV-vis) were carried out. After the oxyfluorination, PMMA surface became more hydrophilic showing the decrease of water contact angle from $69^{\circ}$ to $44^{\circ}$. So, surface free energy of oxyfluorinated PMMA film was increased from 46 to $58\;mN\;m^{-1}$. These results are attributed to hydrophilic functional groups such as hydroxyl group formed oxyfluorination method on the PMMA surface. From XPS results, it was confirmed that O/C concentration ratio on the surface of PMMA was increased, the amount of C-OH bonding which shows hydrophilicity was also largely increased from 6.7 to 24.8% with increasing fluorine partial-pressure via the oxyfluorination, The oxyfluorination conditions, room temperature, 1 bar with one mixture ratio of $F_2$ to $O_2$ had little influence on optical transmittance properties of PMMA film but enhanced its surface hydrophilicity. This result suggests that oxyfluorination method could be useful to change hydrophobic PMMA surface to hydrophilic.

A Study on the Bonding Materials used for the Great Jar of the Proto-Three Kingdoms Period from Daechuri Site, Pyeongtaek (평택 대추리 유적 출토 원삼국시대 대형옹(甕)에 사용된 접착재료 연구)

  • The great jar estimated in Proto-Three Kingdoms period was found at the site from Pyeongtaek Daechuri and the bonding traces from pieces destroyed when they were excavated are observed. Therefore this study would figure out the components of bonding material used in great jars by optical microscope, FT-IR, py-GC/MS and the kind of textile attaching to great jar by transmitted light microscope. As a result of optical microscope for the cross-section, black material is uniformly applied between a piece of jar and the part of bonding and the textile line are observed. Black bonding material is resulted in korean rhus lacquer by FT-IR and py-GC/MS and the kind of textile is identified as hemp by transmitted light microscope. Materials for repairing archaeological objects are hardly known causing little information, but this study proves that the bonding material had used lacquer for great jars before Proto-Three Kingdoms period. Therefore if ancient bonding materials are systematically analysed in the further studies, it would be significant help for studying bonding and restoration materials of ancient objects.

교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기 방전유지 전압의 전압 상승 시간의 변화에 따른 방전 현상의 변화

  • 교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기(AC Plasma Display Panel, AC PDP)의 구동에서의 방전 현상은 기입방전, 유지방전, 소거 방전이 있다. 이중 유지 방전은 표시장치로서의 휘도와 계조의 표현을 위한 방전으로 표시기로서의 효율을 결정하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 유지 방전 전압의 상승 시간의 변화에 따른 방전현상과 휘도, 효율의 변화를 살펴 보았다. 방전 현상에서의 가장 큰 변화는 교류형 플라즈마 방전 표시기의 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 변화이다. 유지 전압의 상승시간이 증가할수록 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 변화이다. 유지 전압의 상승 시간이 증가할수록 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압의 차(sustain margin)는 감소하여 상승 시간이 1$\mu$s/100V 이상의 영역에서는 방전 개시 전압과 방전 유지 전압이 차이가 없어지게 된다. 이는 방전 유지 전극 위의 유전체에 쌓이게 되는 벽전하(wall charge) 양의 감소에 의한 방전 약화의 영향을 보여질 수 있다. 그러나 방전 유지 전압의 형태와 전류의 시간적인 변화를 살펴보면 이러한 약한 방전은 벽전하의 감소에 의한 방전 시의 전계 감소보다는 방전 전류의 발생 시간이 방전 전압이 증가하여 최고점에 이르지 못한 시간에 위치하여 방전이 형성될 때의 전계가 강하지 못하기 때문인 것을 알 수 있다. 방전 전류를 측정한 결과에 의하면 방전 전류의 시작은 변위 전류가 흐르고 난 후부터 시작되며 그 결과 방전 전류가 최고점에 도달하는 시간은 방전 전압 상승 시간이 길어질수록 낮은 전압에서 형성되게 된다. 또한 방전 유지 전압의 상승 시간이 길어질수록 플라즈마 방전표시기의 휘도와 효율은 낮아지고 이 결과 또한 약한 전계에서의 방전에 의한 결과로 생각되어진다.플라즈마의 강도값을 입력하여 플라즈마의 radiation을 검출하고, 스퍼터링 공정중 실질적인 in-situ 정보로 이용하였다. PEM을 통하여 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도변화를 조사하였다. 초기 In/Sn의 플라즈마 강도(intensity)는 강도를 100하여, 산소를 주입한 결과, plasma intensity가 35 줄어들었고, 이때 우수한 ITO 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. Pulsed DC power를 사용하여 아크 현상을 방지하였다. PET 상에 coating 된 ITO 박막의 표면저항과 광투과도는 4-point prove와 spectrophotometer를 이용하여 분석하였고, AES로 박막의 두께에 따른 성분비를 확인하였다. ITO 박막의 광투과도는 산소의 유량과 sputter 된 In/Sn ion의 plasma emission peak에 따라 72%-92%까지 변화하였으며, 저항은 37$\Omega$/$\square$ 이상을 나타내었다. 박막의 Sn/In atomic ratio는 0.12, O/In의 비율은 In2O3의 화학양론적 비율인 1.5보다 작은 1.3을 나타내었다.로 보인다.하면 수평축과 수직축의 분산 장벽의 비에 따라 cluster의 두께비가 달라지는 성장을 볼 수 있었고, 한 축 방향으로의 팔 넓이는 fcc(100) 표면의 경우 동일한 Ed+Ep값에 대응하는 팔 넓이와 거의 동일한 결과가 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 비대칭적인 모양을 가지는 성장의 경우도 cluster 밀도, cluster 모양, cluster의 양 축 방향 길이 비, 양 축 방향의 평균 팔 넓이로부터 각 축 방향의 분산 장벽을 얻어낼 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 기대할 수 있는 여러 장점들을 보고하고자 한다.성이 우수한 시

Target Preparation for KLN sputtering and optical properties of thin films deposited on Corning 1737 glass (KLN 스퍼터링용 타겟의 제조 및 코닝 1737 유리 기판위에 성장시킨 박막의 광학적 성질)

  • Transparent and highly oriented KLN thin films have been grown by an rf- magnetron sputtering deposition method. A homogeneous and stable KLN target was prepared by calcine and sintering process. For KLN target, stoichiometry and composition excess with K of 30% and 60%, and Li of 15% and 30% respectively, was prepared. The targets were sintered at low temperature to prevent vaporization of K and Li. KLN thin films were fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering method using those targets. In this experiment, using the target of composition excessed with K of 60% and Li of 30%, single phase KLN thin film was produced. KLN thin film has excellent crystallinity and highly c-axis oriented on Corning 1737 substrate. Transmittance of thin film in visible range was 90%, absorption edge is 333 nm and refractive index at 632.8 nm was 1.93.

Mid- to Late Holocene Progradational Pattern of Shinduri Dunefield: Implications for Sea Level and Climatic Changes in the Western Coast of Korea (홀로세 중기 이후 신두리 해안사구의 성장 : 기후변화 및 해수면 변동과의 관련 가능성)

  • There have been growing concerns for the sea level rise due to global warming in recent years. Sea level rise is a serious problem to densely populated coastal areas, because it may affect the coastal landforms to be damaged. Especially coastal sand deposits like coastal dunes are more sensitive than the other coastal landforms. In this paper, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating method were used to identify the Holocene geomorphic changes of coastal dune field in Shinduri located at the western coast. The main results in this study that are the dunefield in the study area may have begun to form at around 6.8 ka and it has grown seaward thereafter. Then, dunefield appears to have extensively developed since 3.7 ka. This result, together with previous works on the sea level and climatic changes in the western coast of Korea suggest that the dunefield has been affected by the sea level regression since the Holocene high stand in the Holocene at around 6 ka and climatic change from warm and humid to cold and dry conditions occurred at 4.5 ka.
