Classification of Hydrologic Soil Groups by Infiltration and Permeability in Soil Originated from Lime Stone (석회암 유래 토양의 침투 및 투수속도 평가에 따른 수문유형 분류)

  • 강원도 남부(영월)와 충북 제천, 단양 등지에 널리 분포하는 석회암에서 유래된 토양은 점토 및 철분함량이 많은 식질계 토양이며 pH와 염기포화도(Base Saturation)가 높은 붉은색 토양이다. 이 토양은 식양질과 식질 등의 세립(細粒)질로만 구성이 되어 있고 자갈이 있는 토양으로 분류된다. 따라서, 토양의 침투 및 투수속도가 우리나라 토양의 주 모재인 화강암이나 화강편마암 유래 토양과는 다른 양상을 보인다. 본 연구는 세립질 특성을 보이는 석회암 유래 토양의 지표면에서의 침투속도와 토양층위별 투수속도를 측정해 복잡하게 세분되어 있는 토양의 종류를 수문학적인 목적에 따라 단순화하기 위해 만든 수문학적 토양유형을 분류하고자 하였다. 실험을 위해 이용된 토양은 과림, 모산, 장성, 마지, 안미, 평안통의 6개 토양이었고 장력 침투계(Disc tension infiltrometer)와 투수속도 측정계(Guelph permeameter)로 침투 및 투수속도를 측정했다. 현장측정 이후 추정식의 개발을 위해 토양층위별로 시료를 채취하여 실험실조건에서 입도분포, 유기물함량을 측정했다. 토양통별 침투 및 투수속도를 측정한 결과는 유기물 층이 존재하는 과림통은 공극이 많고 토층 내에 나무 및 식물뿌리가 존재해 전체적으로 침투 및 투수속도가 빠른 특성을 보여 수문유형을 A로 분류되었다. 모산통은 토층 내에 자갈함량이 아주 높고 투수속도가 다른 토양에 비해 월등히 빠른 특성을 나타냈으나 50cm이내에서 암반층이 존재하는 관계로 수문유형이 C로 분류되었다. 토층이 깊지 않은 장성통은 토층 내에 나무 및 식물뿌리가 많고 암석노출지가 존재해 침투속도가 빠름에도 불구하고 C 수문유형으로 분류됐다. 자갈이나 잔돌이 많은 마지통은 잔자갈이 존재하고 침투나 투수속도가 빠른 편으로 A유형이었다. 논으로 사용되는 안미통은 다른 석회암 유래토양에 비해 토층이 깊은 편이며 석회암 충적층에서 유래된 토양으로 선상지 및 곡간지에 분포한다. 관개된 상태에서 로타리 작업에 의해 표토의 특성이 교란되는 논으로 이용되는 특성 때문에 침투 및 투수속도는 느려 C유형으로 분류됐다. 잔돌이 존재하는 평안통은 석회암 붕적, 퇴적층으로부터 유래된 토양으로 산록경사지 및 선상단구에 분포하며 표토층인 A층에서 중입상구조를 보이며 공극이 많고 작물뿌리가 매우 많아 침투속도는 빠르나 B층에서는 점토 함량이 감소했다 증가하면서 토성이 급격히 바뀌는 특성을 나타내 투수속도는 느린 값을 보였으나 수분학적 토양유형은 B유형으로 분류됐다.

  • 오염된 토양이나 지하수에 존재하는 중금속을 고정화시키기 위한 소스로 세 가지 종류의 뼈를 검토해보았다. 뼈 속에 있는 여러 종류의 calcium phosphate를 XPS로 분석한 결과, $Ca_8H_2(PO_4)_6.5H_2O$(octa-Calcium Phosphate)가 공통적으로 들어 있었고, 참치 뼈에는 유일하게 유기물 형태의 인이 들어 있었다. 증류수를 이용한 실험에서 뼈 속의 인산염은 액상에 쉽게 용출되기 때문에 중금속 고정화에 중요한 소스가 될 수 있다는 것을 알았다.

Effect of Barley Mixtures on Forage Production and Soil Characteristics in Dry Riverbed of Ansancheon (안산천에서 청보리 혼파조합이 사초 생산성과 토양 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to determine the forage production and soil characteristics in mixtures of barley and annual legumes at riverbed. The dry matter (DM) and total digestible nutrients (TDN) in barley and hairy vetch mixture were higher compared to other mixtures. Barley, single cropping was the highest in DM content. Comparing different mixtures, barley and crimson clover mixture was higher than other mixtures in DM contest. The crude protein (CP) content of barely and hairy vetch mixture was highest, but ether extract (EE) and TDN contents were lower than other mixtures. Barely and hairy vetch mixture significantly removed organic matter and phosphorus from riverbed through forage production (P<0.05). The total nitrogen (TN) of barley and hairy vetch mixture was highest because of high nitrogen fixation in riverbed soil. Single barley was highest in organic matter (OM) of soil. Comparing different mixtures, barley and crimson clover mixture was higher than other mixtures in OM contest. The available P2O5 of soil in barley and crimson clover mixture and barley and rape mixture were higher than others, and that of barley and hairy vetch was lower than other mixtures. The barely and hairy vetch mixture was highest in cation exchange capacity (CEC) content. Therefore barley and hairy vetch mixture is more suitable in forage mixtures because of high forage production and protein, and reduction of soil phosphorus in riverbed.

Evaluation of Soil Microflora in Salt Accumulated Soils of Plastic Film House (염유집적(鹽類集積) 시설재배지(施設栽培地)의 토양미생물상(土壤微生物相) 평가(評價))

  • The experiment was conducted to obtain the basic data required to characterize and improve rhizosphere environment of salt-accumulated greenhouse(SAG) soils by comparing the soil properties and the microbial flora of such soils to those of unprotected arable upland(UAU) soils. Soils were sampled from greenhouses and unprotected upland fields around the country. Microbial propulation, biomass C content and soil chemical properties were of interest. Population density of fluorescent Pseudomonas was high in UAU soils, while those of pathogenic Fusarium sp. and fluorescent Pseudomonas were low in SAG soils. With increasing soil organic matter(OM) content, the population densities of Bacillus sp., fluorescent Pseudomonas sp., Enterobacteriaceae, and microbial biomass C content increased. As soil electrical conductivity(EC) increased higher than $5.1dS\;m^{-1}$, the ratios of bacteria to fungi(B/F) and actinomycetes to fungi(A/F) and the population density of fluorescent Pseudomonas decreased remarkably. The soil pH was positively related to the population density of aerobic bacteria, while it was negatively related to that of fungi. The soil OM content was significantly correlated to the population densities of actinomycetes($r=0.226^*$). Bacillus sp.($r=0.334^{**}$), Enterobacteriaceae($r=0.276^*$), and the microbial biomass C content($R=0.439^{**}$). The population density of actinomycetes was also significantly correlated with soil exchangeable Ca($r=0.334^{**}$) and Mg($r=0.352^{**}$).

Seasonal Change in the Soil Chemical Properties from Sweet Persimmon Orchard in Gyeongnam Province (경남지역 단감 재배 토양의 화학성 변화 평가)

  • Field monitoring was performed to evaluate the soil chemical properties of 31 sweet persimmon orchard soil samples every two months from April to October in 2008 at Gyeongnam Province. Soil chemical properties such as pH, organic matter, available phosphate, exchangeable potassium, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium, exchangeable sodium, ammonium nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen were analyzed. The soil chemical properties of both top soil, and subsoil showed that soil pH was significantly increased whereas ammonium nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen were significantly decreased. The insufficient levels of nutrients in top soil, and subsoil were higher in 69.4%, and 84.7% for pH, 63.7%, and 84.7% for organic matter compared to optimum range. Meanwhile, the excessive levels of available phosphate showed 70.2% in top soil, and 46.8% in subsoil compared to optimum range. The experimental results showed that the optimum fertilization based on soil testing was the most important thing in soil nutrients management for sweet persimmon.

Effects of Special Protection Area Designation on Soil Properties and Vegetation Coverage of Degraded Trails (국립공원 특별보호구 지정이 훼손 탐방로 주변 토양과 식생피도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate how the special protection area designations of degraded trails effect on the soil and vegetation recovery of degraded trails. The study areas were established on an opened trail and a 16-year closed trail, which was prohibited to enter after the designation as a special protection area for recovery, at Bukhansan National Park. Soil core sampling and measurements of vegetation cover were performed to compare soil and vegetation properties of the trails. Soil bulk density increased and soil water total nitrogen decreased on the opened trail, while no significant differences were found on bulk density, soil water, total nitrogen, acidity, and organic matter on the closed trail. On the opened trail, vegetation cover was seemed to be degraded, because vegetation litter cover ratio was low and barren rock cover ratio was high. On the closed trail, litter rock barren cover ratio of the closed trail was recovered, but only limited recovery was found on vegetation cover by applying environmental damage condition rating class. In conclusion, the closed trail was recovered by designation of special protection area, while difference in recovery progress of soil and vegetation was found. Therefore, designation of special protection area of degraded area should be based on scientific basis of recovery characteristics of the area. In order to improve the effectiveness of special protection area system, further specific standards for special protection area designation and management would be needed, considering ecological and social importance of target areas.

Leaching behavior of the herbicide bentazon in soil column (Soil column중 제초제 bentazon의 용탈 행적)

  • In order to elucidate the leaching behaviour of the herbicide bentazon in soil, soil columns(5cm ID ${\times}$ 34 cm L) were packed with three different soils up to 30 cm height, followed by the treatment of [$^{14}C$]bentazon, and rice plants(Oryza sativa L.) were grown for 9 weeks on these columns, with the columns without growing rice plants as the control for comparison. The amounts of $^{14}C$ activities percolated were about 92% of the originally applied $^{14}C$ irrespective of the physicochemical properties of the soils in the absence of rice plants, whereas $21{\sim}50%$ of the originally applied $^{14}C$ was percolated in the presence of rice plants, suggesting that the amounts of $^{14}C$ leached decreased remarkably in rice-cultivating soils. Bentazon leached faster in soil with higher pH and with lower organic matter content in the presence of growing rice plants. The amounts of $^{14}CO_{2}$ evolved from the soil columns were less than 0.2% of the originally applied $^{14}C$. Smaller amounts of $^{14}C$ were translocated into shoots via roots in soils with higher organic matter content. $^{14}C$ activities distributed into the aqueous phase of the leachate collected from the soil columns increased with leaching period and by rice cultivation, whereas the physico-chemical properties of soils did not exhibit any effect. The amounts of soil-bound residues increased remarkably by cultivating rice plants.

  • The purpose of this study was to give some ideas to the improving direction and evaluation in order to solve physical' ecological problems appeared after urban park construction. This study selected Namsangol park as a site, because this park was constructed to the goal in order to rehabilitate the original landform as a part of "Namsan original landscape rehabilitation work". So this study was executed to investigate past and present landform change, soil condition, planting, water/climate etc., and then these were analyzed by GIS.- soil :pH, Ec, organic matter, the ability of moisture content, bulk density, porosity, etc.- planting:planting density, plant species- water/climate: the amount of rainfall, drainage and drainage-basin. And then this study overlayed soil+cut/fill, soil+pine tree, cut/fill + planting density, and cut/fill + plant species.t species.

The effect of sewage sludge compost amended soils on the growth of Orchardgrass seedlings (하수오니 첨가토양이 Orchardgrass 유식물체의 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of sewage sludge compost amended soils on the growth and accumulation patterns of heavy metals in plant parts of Orchardgrass seedlings, changes in physical properties and chemical composition, and heavy metal residue in soils. Mixture ratios of sewage sludge compost and soil(loam) were 100:0, 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, 20:80 and 0:100(control), respectively. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The physical properties and chemical compostion of soils were improved by increase in mixture ratios of sewage sludge compost. 2. The biological yield of Orchardgrass seedlings was increased with mixture ratios of sewage sludge compost. 3. The dry weight of shoot(SH) was increased with both of yield components(NT and WT) and biological yield of Orchardgrass seedlings. 4. The total nitrogen concentrations(TN) of plants was increased with quadratically up to the biological yield of 100% mixture ratio of sewage sludge compost. 5. Lead(Pb) concentration of soil in over the 60% mixture ratios of sewage sludge compost were in excess of limiting level(50ppm) of organic fertilizers.

Change of Organic Rice Yield as Affected by Surface and Broadcast Fertilizer Applications (유기질비료의 표층 및 전층시비에 따른 벼 수량 변화)

  • This study was investigated to evaluate the effects of fertilizer application of surface and broadcast for rice culture on the soil chemical, physical, and microbial properties as well as growth and yield of rice. The application was made with 'Dongjin 1' rice at Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services from 2008 to 2010. Soil organic matter and cation concentrations were increased by surface and broadcast applications, respectively. Plots treated by surface application tended to be higher seasonal N-mineralization rate in the organic fertilizer and seasonal soil organic matter than those of broadcast application. Soil physical properties seemed to be improved by the broadcast application, and soil microbial properties were increased by the surface application. Surface application increased 5% of rice yield compared to that of broadcast.
