  • A novel structure of phase locked loop (PLL) which has small size with D Flip-Flop and sub charge pump has been proposed. The area of loop filter usually occupying the larger portion of the chip is minimized using a single small capacitor. It has been simulated and proved by HSPICE in a CMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ 1.8V process.

A Shape Based Image Retrieval Method using Phase of ART (ART의 위상 정보를 이용한 형태기반 영상 검색 방법)

  • Since shape of an object in an image carries important information in contents based image retrieval (CBIR), many shape description methods have been proposed to retrieve images using shape information. Among the existing shape based image retrieval methods, the method which employs invariant Zernike moment desciptor (IZMD) showed better performance compared to other methods which employ traditional Zernike moments descriptor in CBIR. In this paper, we propose a new image retrieval method which applies invariant angular radial transform descriptor (IARTD) to obtain higher performance than the method which employs IZMD in CBIR. IARTD is a rotationally invariant feature which consists of magnitudes and alligned phases of angular radial transform coefficients. To produce rotationally invariant phase coefficients, a phase correction scheme is performed while extracting the IARTD. The distance between two IARTDs is defined by combining the differences of the magnitudes and the aligned phases. Through the experiment using MPEG-7 shape dataset, the average bull's eye performance (BEP) of the proposed method is 0.5806 while the average BEPs of the exsiting methods which employ IZMD and traditional ART are 0.4234 and 0.3574, respectively.

  • 본 논문은 전류모델과 전압모델의 장점을 취해 자속을 추정하는 고피나스(Gopinath) 모델 자속 추정기에 속도 피드백 오차가 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하였다. 속도 오차는 전류 모델의 위상 지연 및 크기 오차를 발생시키고, 이로 인해 고피나스 모델에 의해 추정 된 회전자 자속의 위상 및 크기에 오차가 발생하였다. 따라서 전류모델에 발생한 위상 지연을 통해 속도 오차를 보상하여 자속 추정 오차를 감소시키는 새로운 알고리즘을 제시하였고, 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 검증하였다.

A Novel Method for Rejection of the Spurious Signal in Weaver-Type Up-Conversion Mixer (위버구조 상향변환 혼합기의 스퓨리어스 신호 제거 방법)

  • A novel method to reject the spurious signals which are occurred at Weaver-type low-IF transmitter was proposed in this paper. The spurious signals are generated by the gain and phase imbalances of I/Q channel or imperfect characteristics of 90$^{\circ}$ phase shifter in local oscillator for I/Q channel source. By deriving the gain and phase-based functions from RF spurious signal with the channel imbalance information, the lie channel imbalances were deduced as functions with magnitude and sign dependent on I/Q channel imbalance degree. The proposed method compensates the estimated I/Q channel imbalances by correlation values between the down-converted signal obtained by squaring the output signal itself using a simple mixer and the modified baseband signal. By comparing two signals after A/D conversion, the magnitude and sign of each type of imbalances can be determined separately and simultaneously. Based on the I/Q channel imbalance compensation, the spurious signals can be reduced by adjusting the gain and phase values of I or Q channel signal. The way to estimate the channel imbalances of the up-conversion mixer was presented and verified by using theoretical derivations and computer simulations.

  • The phase retrieval problem is a problem of reconstructing a signal or the phase of Fourier transform of the signal from the magnitude of its Fourier transform. In this paper we address the problem of reconstructing an unknown signal from the magnitude of its Fourier transform and the magnitude of Fourier transform of another signal that is given by the addition of the desired signal. After we briefly mention the uniqueness conditions under which a signal can be uniquely specified from the given information and key equations of the iterative algorithm, we present mathematical background that the iterative algorithm converges to the desired signal, present an example that illustrates the performance of the reconstruction algorithm, and show its convergence property.

  • This study presents the topology optimization technique by density method to determine the initial shape of space truss structures. Most initial shape design is performed by designer's previous experiences and trial and error method instead of the application of reasonable optimization method. Thus, the reasonable and economical optimization methods are needed to be introduced for the initial shape design. Therefore, we set design domain for cantilever space truss structure as an example model. And topology optimization is used to obtain optimum layout for them, and then size optimization method is used to find the optimum member size. Therefore, the reasonable initial optimal shapes of spatial truss structures can be obtained through the topology and size optimization using density method.

  • A phase-locked loop(PLL) with effectively increased capacitance by current modulator has been proposed. In this paper, the effective capacitance of loop filter is increased by using current modulator and it results in 1/10 reduction of capacitance in loop filter. It has been designed with a 1.8V $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The simulation results show that the proposed PLL has the same phase noise characteristic and locking time of conventional PLL.

  • Metals are used in a variety of industrial sites and daily life. Metals are often used in machinery, automobile parts, wires, and robots. Metal causes small damage to the metal surface for a variety of reasons, such as the processing process and the user's operating environment. In this paper, phase detection for the inspection of defects in metals has been implemented. Using the electrical conductivity of metal, a circuit whose phase varies with the depth and size of the defect, and with the changed phase, the depth and size of the defect can be estimated.

  • This paper describes a multiple audio watermarking using Quantization Index Modulation (QIM) on frequency phase and magnitude response. Proposed embedding procedure is composed of two stage. At the first stage, the watermark is embedded on the frequency phase response using QIM. In the second stage, the watermark is embedded using adaptive QIM with the step-size that is adaptively determined using the maximum value of the frequency magnitude response of every frame. The watermark is extracted by calculating the Euclidean distance as the blind detection. The proposed method is robust against most of attacks of audio watermark benchmarking. For the Fourier attacks, the proposed method shows over 95% recovery rate.
