  • With the rapid development in network, graphic technology, and digital technology, content industry is emerging as an important industry for new cultural development and economic development. The development in digital content technology has remarkably expanded the generation and distribution of contents, thereby creating new value and extending into a large distribution market. However, the ease of distribution and duplication, which characterizes digital technology, has increased the circulation of illegal contents due to illegal copying, theft, and alteration. The damage caused by this illegal content is severe. Currently, a copyright protection system targeting online sites is available. By contrast, no system has been established for offline companies that sell offline genuine content, which compete with online companies. The demand for content of overseas tourists is increasing due to the Korean wave craze. Nevertheless, many offline content providers have lost competitiveness due to illegal content distribution with online companies. In this study, we analyzed the case and status of similar copyright certification systems in Korea and overseas through previous research and studied a system to certify the offline genuine contents business. In addition to the case analysis, we focused on interviews obtained through in-depth interviews with the copyright stakeholders. We also developed a certification framework by establishing the certification domain, certification direction, and incentive of the certification system for offline businesses with genuine content. Selected certification direction is ethical, open, inward, store, and rigid (post evaluation). This study aimed to increase awareness among consumers about the use of genuine content and establish a transparent trading order in a healthy content market.

  • The comprehensive countermeasures against school violence recently announced by the government include some content on physical education classes. Physical education has long been ignored in school paradoxically in spite of the deteriorating physical strength and health of adolescents. The physical education subject undervalued in the middle of overly excessive competitions for college entrance exams finds its core goal in whole person education and officially emphasizes the development of personality aspects, which means that physical education claims important significance by providing diverse approaches to school violence prevention. This study thus set out to enhance the roles of physical education for school violence prevention. In Korean society, school violence has taken deep root due to the combined results of individual, family, school and community factors, the growth-first policy driven by compressed modern growth, and neoliberalism based on economic efficiency. School violence possesses such fixed value systems and convictions in Korean society. Education has failed to achieve some effectiveness because of the serious level of school violence, which calls for assessment of ideology having big impacts on educational environments. Given that it has been rediscovered that physical education has legitimacy of alleviating or preventing school violence through its value, an alternative to eradicate school violence should start with physical education normalization in school. Specific alternatives including the activation of sports clubs in school will be established as more fundamental practical alternatives when accompanied by the development of school violence-related programs and the operation of in-service training programs for physical education teachers.

And it shows the economic spillover effects using the input-output analysis. Consequently, this paper will provide the valuable implications to companies in setting up the efficient strategies and the regulator in promoting the ICT industry.

  • Traditional financial approaches have been failed to satisfy the firms in evaluating the payoffs from information technology(IT) investment. This research developed a processed-oriented model to evaluate the impacts of IT on the primary business activities within the value chain. The model proposed in this research incorporates corporate goals for IT and strategic alignment as key measurements of IT impacts. We found that corporate goals for IT can be classified into one of four categories: unfocused, operations focus, market focus, and dual focus(operations and market focus), using survey data collected from 137 corporate executives in Korea. The empirical analysis confirms that corporate goals for IT are useful indicators of impacts from IT in that executives in firms with more focused goals for IT perceive higher payoffs from IT in the value chain. We also found that strategic alignment contributes to higher perceived levels of IT payoffs.

  • Through contemporary researches on policing, individual employees in law enforcement agencies has gained more and more attention from researchers and police organization managers. Unfortunately an important but largely ignored area of current research on individual police officers concerns the value orientations obtaining among Korean police officers. And during last five decades or so, no research has been done on this issue. Studying individual value orientations is important because a substantial body of research indicates that particular patterns of value orientation predict world views and hence can in turn predict behavior at the workplace and behavioral predispositions on salient social issues. Therefore in this research, the authors intended to answer these issues. (1) What are the characteristics of value orientations among Korean police officers. (2) Is there any differences between Korean and American police officers on the value orientations among them.

  • The purpose of this essay is to check what are the problems of the current Korean independent films and to find the solutions for effective circulation of the Korean independent films in terms of its intimacy to public. For this, I would like to define 'independent film' and 'its ambiguous distinction', and then I presented the current issues of the Korean independent films and suggested the alternatives of the effective circulation of its production and distribution. Independent films can be defined through our understanding and identification, and it is significant of mutual communication with the audience, so that I will classify the cases of box office of the independent films. The effectiveness of production can be suggested by lower budget and many financial supports, and the effectiveness of distribution is to have many occasions to release, to benefit with them and to release in many festivals. The effort of independent filmmakers, mutual communication between filmmakers and the audience, and the official supporting system will make it possible for effective production and distribution. With this possibility, the future of Korean independent film will be bright.

  • This article is to propose a conceptual framework for the One Source Multi Use (OSMU) strategic model of culture content. In this study, OSMU is defined as a series of marketing activities to increase the value created by culture content. The framework of brand equity strategy is applied to develop the strategic model of OSMU, as both share the same goal - maximization of long term value created by brand or culture content. This article suggests the brand identity-based OSMU strategic model, in which the brand identity of culture content guides, integrates, and coordinates every decision-making of OSMU activities. For the maximization of brand equity value of culture content, the copyright holder of original content should decide the content's brand identity, which should provide the criteria of all decision makings regarding window strategy, adaptation of content to other genre, and merchandising. This brand identity-based OSMU strategic model can not only contribute to the sales of OSMU content, but also the creation of high equity culture content in the long run. Also, the model allows monitoring and evaluation of content's brand equity, which can be used for the strategic adjustment for the sake of long term value of the content. This study is differentiated from previous study on OSMU and expected to invigorate the further discussion on OSMU in several points. First, it broadens the scope of OSMU discussion as it views OSMU as a series of process including feedback. Second, this study points out the need for integration and coordination of various OSMU activities. Third, the strategic focus is laid on the value maximization of the original content, not 'multi used' content. Fourth, the suggested model emphasize the strategic role of copyright holder who takes the charge of the content brand management. Fifth, the model requires discussion on the components of marketing communication in addition to the content itself, which means the model includes the prospects, not only the content consumers, as the major future source for value creation.
