  • In this paper, insulating effect and strength development of concrete under low temperature are reported varying curing sheets. According to test results, in temperature -5$^{\circ}$C concrete subject to exposure and air cap condition, result in a frost damage at early age by a fall of below zero temperature. Mean while, the combination of PE film and non-woven fabric maintained around 3 $^{\circ}$C within first 24 hours since placement. For double bubble sheets, concrete temperature maintained above 7$^{\circ}$C due to its excellent heat insulating capability. As a result of core strength test, strength of specimens cured with viny + non-woven fabric and double bubble sheets had higher strength than strength of other specimens due to good heat insulation effect at early age.

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of high-strength concrete according to the substitution rate of NSH(Non-sintered Hwangto) as an alternative material for cement were measured and evaluated. Through UPV(Ultrasonic pulse velocity) analysis, the compressive strength prediction equation was proposed, and the substitution rate of NSH was set at 15 % and 30 %. The evaluation items were compressive strength and UPV, and the curing period was set to 24 hours. In compressive strength and UPV, as the NSH substitution rate increased, lower strength and lower UPV were shown. In addition, the correlation number(R2 ) between compressive strength and UPV was 0.99 for NC(Normal Concrete), 0.97 for NSHC(Non-sintered Hwangto Concrete)33-15, and 0.94 for NSHC33-30.

  • Five concrete compressive stress-strain models have been analyzed to check the validity of the strength method for determining the nominal moment of strengthened members using commercially available computer language. The results show that the concrete stress-strain models do not influence on the flexural analysis. The moment of a strengthened member obtained from the flexural analysis at concrete compressive strain reaching 0.003 is well agreed with nominal moment using the strength method. The flexural analysis results show that when the steel reinforcement, FRP ratio, FRP failure strain, and concrete failure compressive strain are relatively lower, the strength method overestimates the flexural capacity of the strengthened members.

  • Recently, the trend toward larger architectural structures continues and accelerates demand for Ultra High Strength Concrete (UHSC) which satisfies structural performance. However, UHSC has weakness in fire and the performance tests are required. In this paper, the change of mechanical properties of 100 MPa grade UHSC exposed to high temperatures ($20^{\circ}C{\sim}800^{\circ}C$) was observed to develop high temperature material model of UHSC: residual compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, property of stress-strain on monotonous loading and property of stress-strain on cyclic loading. In addition, TG/DTA and SEM Images analyses were performed to investigate chemical and physical characteristics of UHSC, and the results of this research were compared with those of previous studies. As a result, UHSC at the heating temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ showed a sharp decrease of residual compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. And It was shown that UHSC had a plastic behavior at more than $400^{\circ}C$ on the cyclic loading and revealed a same tendency in both monotonous and cyclic loading of all heating temperatures. In addition, through TG/DTA and SEM images analyses compared with those from previous studies, it was shown that the deterioration of concrete inner tissue, water evaporation and chemical reaction caused the decrease of residual compressive strength and modulus of elasticity.

  • RCI 318-8!4 recommends that when the specified cornpresslve strength of concrete In a column is greater than 1.4 times thdt spec~f~ed for a floor svsttm. top surface of the colunm concrete shall extend 2ft(600mm) into the slab from the face of colurnn to avoid unexpected brittle failure. Six test specimens were cast arid tested on 2/3 scale frame specmiens havlng different extension distances and compressive strength of concrete as the major variables. The paper discusses the performance of the frames in terms of ductility and also presents the assessment of the ACI 318-89 provisions. The test results showed that the ductility index were incrrased with increasing of compressive strength of concrete and extension distance. And top surface of the column concrete should extend 2h(h overall depth of beam) into the beam from the face of the column to avoid unexpected brittle failure in frame.

  • When the concrete is confined to width direction, stress-strain curve of concrete are different from the uniaxial behavior. In case of normal strength concrete, Mander model are used with concrete material model which considers confining effect. Sakino-Sun model showed experimental result of specimen-level and the highest accuracy. Therefore, Normal strength concrete used Mander model. and High strength concrete used Sakino-Sun model. But there are significant differences from actual data when medium strength concrete used Mander or Sakino-Sun model. and Limit scope of maximum or minimum compressive strength of concrete is not clear when applied to two models. Therefore, In this research, material nonlinear model of confined concrete is suggested when concrete which has 30-40MPa's strength is confined to width direction.

  • This study evaluated the mechanical properties of the alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate replaced concrete to reduce the cracking in a box culvert power transmission. After setting the replacement ratio of alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate at 0, 6, 9, 12, and 15%, the setting time, compressive strength, and drying shrinkage were measured and the microstructure and crystal structure were analyzed. As a result, it was confirmed that as the replacement ratio of alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate increased, the setting time decreased and the compressive strength declined. On the other hand, when the alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate was set with 15% of replacement ratio, about 60% reduction in the drying shrinkage was shown compared to that of ordinary Portland cement. Therefore, it is thought that when the concrete replacing the alpha-calcium sulfate hemihydrate is applied to a box culvert power transmission, the cracking reduction performance will be improved, and the improvement of compressive strength will be required.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze mechanical properties through an experiment of concrete that reinforced PET fiber, blast furnace slag and Hwangtoh. As admixture that is substitute material of cement for environmental concrete development In order to measure compressive strength, the experiment has executed to concrete, Hwangtoh concrete and a mixture specimen of Hwangtoh and PET reinforcement fiber. Also, creep and drying shrinkage experiment have executed to analyze long-term quality of specimens. Test results, compressive strength by age was not much of difference as a substitute, however, compressive strength of HTC specimen was the strongest of the three specimens. In the case of creep and drying shrinkage, long-term quality of HTC specimen was distinguished.

  • This study was achieved experiment to evaluate effect on fluidity and strength development ratio by slag replacement ratio to $40{\sim}100MPa$ HSC(High Strength Concrete) containing blast furnace slag(GGBS) and fly-ash(FA). Also it was suggested that most suitable replacement ratio of GGBS is effect by strength. The mix plan of concrete used in an experiment was used to the GGBS replacement ratio of 0, 12, 25% as the cement materials, and fly ash was used equally by replacement ratio 15%. According to test results, for use GGBS with fly ash as binder, slump of GGBS replacement ratio 25% is the most superior in 40MPa series, and appeared by thing which slump flow of GGBS 12% is the most superior in 60, 80MPa's series. The other side, was expressed that fluidity is excellent by FA replacement ratio 15% in 100MPa series. In the case of compressive strength 40MPa, it was exposed that the strength revelation is effect in until the GGBS principal parts ratio increases by replacement ratio 25%. Also, it was exposed that GGBS mixing ratio more than replacement ratio 25% is not since fitness in high strength concrete more than 100MPa.
