There is a hot debate about what the core competencies of future generations, who have to live an uncertain future, should cultivate. The future society is expected to become a Software-oriented Society driven by software. Under these circumstances, interest in software education is exploding around the world, and interest in cultivating computational thinking through software education is also increasing. Also, discussions about what computational thinking is and what competence factors are made up are in progress. However, the research on the relationship between the competence factors of computational thinking is relatively insufficient. In order to solve this problem, this study proceeded as follows. First, five competence factors of computational thinking were selected. Second, we defined a path model to analyze the relationships among the competence factors of computational thinking. Third, we chose a test tool to test computational thinking. Fourth, the computational thinking tests were conducted for 801 students in grades 3 through 6 of elementary school. Fifth, implications were derived by analyzing various viewpoints based on the results of the computational thinking test.

There is a great deal of effort to improve Computational Thinking in education. In this paper, we define the relationship between SW capability and Computational Thinking, and then examine the current status of pre-service teacher's computing thinking. For this purpose, a survey about the attitude toward SW education and computing thinking was administered to prospective teachers who learned Entry software for one semester. The results of the survey showed that the improvement of abstraction, data analysis, and automation among the pre-service teacher's computing thinking is needed. When educating preliminary teachers, we can see that we need an education method that can increase the analysis and design capability beyond the Entry Software development tool.

Wing, J. M. emphasized the importance of computational thinking competency to live in the 21st century. In this study, the abstraction of computational thinking is classified into object abstraction, data abstraction, and procedural abstraction through related studies. In addition, abstraction achievement and assessment standards were developed for the abstractable competency assessment. As a result of applying to the school site, the students showed that the object abstraction and the data abstraction competency which are expressed in writing and drawing, they are excellent in solving the problem. However, students hard to write a computer program. The abstractable competency assessment developed in this study will help teach students to teach software education.

The purpose of this study was to design a competence teaching-learning model that could help college students improve their computational thinking among core competences in SW education. A competence teaching-learning model, UDDPAAP (Unplugged-Demonstration-Decomposition-Pattern Recognition-Abstraction-Algorithm-Programming), was designed by analyzing competences of learners with no experience in software coding, by reconstructing DMM, DDD, and DPAA among the five existing SW-based teaching-learning models, and by analyzing unplugged activity and the Bebras challenge computational thinking scale carefully. The unplugged activity partially adapted to instruction for college students and some items chosen from the Bebras challenge computational thinking scale were applied to the existing teaching-learning model. To determine the effects of the study, pretest was conducted in freshmen for computational thinking and self-confidence on the basis of the experience in SW and computer information literacy education, and posttest following instruction applying the UDDPAAP teaching-learning model. The students provided with SW education based on the UDDPAAP teaching-learning model saw their computational thinking competence improved.

A SW competency based on computational thinking is considered as one of the core competencies in the future society. However, the concept of computational thinking is difficult to be introduced to the class because of the lack of appropriate educational program and the shortage of proper understandings of students and teachers. Thus, we have applied computational thinking based STEAM program and analyzed its effectiveness to explore the educational possibilities of computational thinking. The 49 samples were selected, 23 for the experimental group, and 26 for the control group. Pre-post tests for integrated thinking abilities and computational thinking were done to explore the CT-STEAM program's effectiveness. As a result, the components of integrated thinking abilities, science preference and self-directed learning abilities were enhanced after CT-STEAM instruction. In addition, computational thinking assessment score was statistically significant. We expect new STEAM programs using various computing tools to be developed in the future.

Given the background of so-called 'the 4th industrial revolution', universities practice computing education for non-majors to equip them with computational thinking(CT). Universities apply different courses but researches analyzing effectiveness of the courses based on CT are limited. This research is conducted to understand a computing course for non-majors is effective in terms of CT. A CT based evaluation framework is designed referring to AP Computer Science Principles. Questionnaires are developed based on the framework and applied to the course participants. As results, students' post scores are significantly higher than pre scores. In addition, there are significant differences in pre-test scores by major category while there is no difference in post-test. Humanity & social science group showed the largest difference between pre and post results with science & engineering and computer in order. In sum, it is found that this course is effective to facilitate students abilities in terms of CT, particularly for the non-computer majors.

The KAIE computing system curriculum consists of information equipment, operating systems, and information and communication fields, and covers basic understanding and principles of computer science. The role of the teacher is important to achieve the curriculum achievement standards. Therefore, we examined the factors affecting the teaching capacity of the KAIE computing system curriculum. The results of this study show that the teaching methods of teachers through the literacy of information and communication technology have a statistically significant effect on the teaching competency of the computing system curriculum. Also, male teachers perceived higher perceived factors than female teachers. The differences in teaching competency between teacher groups of less than 5 years and less than 5~10 years were significant. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop collaborate SW teaching strategies and mentor - centered training programs that can strengthen ICT and SW professors' competence and encourage participation of low - career teachers and female teachers.
