  • This study investigated on details of flow characteristics in a vaneless diffuser of a compressor with 2-dimensional impeller at various flow rates. Experiment for a low speed compressor model in a water reservoir was performed to analyze the flow field in the vaneless diffuser and volute casing, which was done by PIV measurement. It was also focused on the periodic flow patterns occurring at low flow rate near unstable operating region of the compressor. At low flow rate condition, the flow visualization clearly shows that the flow energy from impeller is highly accumulated at the compressor exit by the blockage effect of a flow damper and consequently the reverse flow occurs in the diffuser.

  • ln this paper, a finite element analysis procedure is proposed for the incremental multi-step excavations in a fluid-saturated porous medium such as saturated soil ground. As the basis of derivation, Biot's equation was used. The proposed procedure was applied to some one- and two-dimensional problems under incremental excavations. Unsaturated cases as well as saturated cases were considered for comparison. Through numerical tests, the effects of permeability and excavation speed on the deformation history was investigated. Results showed that pore pressure built up during incremental excavation has a significant effect on the deformation and stresses of solid skeleton and validated the use of the present procedure for the analysis of multi-step excavations in fluid-saturated media such as in saturated shallow ground.

  • This study analyzed the propagation of dam-break waves in an area directly downstream of a dam by using 3D numerical modeling with RANS as the governing equation. In this area, the flow of the waves has three dimensional characteristics due to the instantaneous dam break. In particular, the dam-break flows are characterized by a highly unsteady and discontinuous flow, a mixture of the sharp flood waves and their reflected waves, a mixture of subcritical and supercritical flow, and propagation in a dry and movable bed. 2D numerical modeling, in which the governing equation is the shallow water equation, was regarded as restricted in terms of dealing with the sharp fluctuation of the water level at the dam-breaking point and water level vibration at the reservoir. However, in this 30 analysis of flood wave propagation due to partial dam breaking and dam-break in channels with $90^{\circ}$ bend, those phenomena were properly simulated. In addition, the flood wave and bed profiles in a movable bed with a flat/upward/downward bed step, which represents channel aggradation or degradation, was also successfully simulated.

  • Gender Representation of animation character that is discussed in this essay is a semantic discourse that is related to communication with contemporary audience. For gender Representation of animation character, as it can be thought that linguistic elements for signification with audience are materialized, it has a significant value when it comes to communication with audience. Commercial success of Disney's feature length animation Frozen is from excellent aesthetic principles and techniques and global marketing capabilities of Disney studio. However, independent and active gender representation of Elsa and Anna in Frozen are more important commercial successful elements. Especially, Gender representation of these two characters reflects myth of women who live in this modern society so their linguistic meaning can appear affluently. That also means that those two characters have advantages, in terms of communication, that can have effective signification with contemporary audience as linguistic sign. And those advantages are signification foundation that Frozen can be commercially successful by communicating with audience all around the world.

  • Technology trade balance of Korea takes only 19th place among the OECD members. As the size of the technology trade of Korea's market increases, the importance of the Intellectual Property Right, which is one of the way of dealing increases, too. 100 million dollar of technology export has a same effect as 16,000 million dollar of merchandise export, and technology export is a value-added business which does not cost at all. For the improvement of trade balance, we have to elevate the merchandise export and also we have to get rid of the trade conflict and china's pursuit of trade. Furthermore, we need to make improvements through import of Royalty and through technology export. In this study, We would like to suggest the improvement of technology trade balance of Korea by analyze the present conditions of technology trade balance of Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the idea of the ideal garden, pursued by Dasan, by analyzing the production process of his writing and the location of his dwelling, and the characteristics of the garden in the writings of Dasan (茶山) Jeong Yag-Yong (丁若鏞)'s "Jaehwangsangyuincheop (題黃裳幽人帖)" is concerned with his writings on an imaginary garden (意園). This paper assumed that "Jaehwangsangyuincheop" served as a blueprint for his ideal dwelling. The main research subjects are the external scenes described in the "Jaehwangsangyuincheop", and the garden elements and spatial construction that were visualized as a Korean Ink Painting (水墨畵) through the analysis of related works. The results are as follows. First, Hwang Sang was Dasan's favorite pupil, and "Jaehwangsangyuincheop" was written by Dasan while at Boeunsanbang in the winter of 1805 as an answer to a question that Hwang Sang posed about the residence of a hermit. By referring to this response, Hwang Sang established Ilsoksanbang (一粟山房) under Mt. Cheongae in Daegu-myeon, Gangjin. Secondly, the residence in "Jaehwangsangyuincheop" has mountains behind it and water in front of it (背山臨水). The residence was used as a place to combine life and leisure. It was an ideal residence that secluded the scholar(隱士). Thirdly, Dasan's ideal garden was shown as operation of natural geography in a residential location, practically using various plant materials, expanding physical boundaries of garden, pursuing synesthetic aesthetics while enjoying garden elements, and having an active experience of the taste for the arts in the extended garden. "Jaehwangsangyuincheop" depicted the life of a scholar with the taste of elegance (雅趣), who live in reclusiveness (隱逸), which was wanted by Dasan after exile. It was realized as Ilsoksanbang. "Jaehwangsangyuincheop" was interpreted as the ideal of a feasible dwelling that faithfully reflects Dasan's conceptual thoughts on the garden.

  • The effects of potassium chloride and potassium sulphate on the volatilization of ammonia from acidic clayloam and tidal sandy clay loam soils applied with urea under flooded conditions were studied in a laboratory experiment. Results obtained were as follows; 1. The application of potassium to the acidic soil promoted the volatilization of ammonia through increasing soil pH. 2. The application of potassium to urea treated on the tidal soil which lead pH over 8.0 under flooded reduced conditions decreased the wet soil pH and reduced the volatilization of ammonia from the soil. These effects of potassium were more pronounced in the potassium sulphate treatment than in the potassium chloride. 3. More ammonia was volatilized from the acidic soil applied with potassium sulphate, however, the effects of potassium fertilizers applied to the high pH tidal soil seemed to be masked by high salt content of the soil. 4. Urea brought up soil pH significantly. Potassium sulphate was more effective than potassium chloride in raising pH of the acidic soil, though the reverse could be true in the tidal soil with high pH. The reduction of sulphate might be a major cause for the pH change.

  • This thesis pursued exchanges of Hwangsang with Chusa Family, who existed in the 19th century. What was Chusa to Hwangsang and what was Hwangsang to Chusa? The answer is concluded to the question of which existence Chusa was to Hwangsang but not of which existence Hwangsang was to Chusa. However, disregarding social positions of the nobles and the commoners, brothers of Chusa also cherished Hwangsang and respectfully treated him as a poet at all times. Chusa was a critic who recognized Hwangsang as a successor to Dasan poetics and became a patron of the literary circles on the other hand. Hwangsang's Chinese poems related to Chusa Family are counted as 45 JE 52 SU in total which consist of 31 JE 34 SU in "CHIWONYUGO" and 14 JE 18 SU in "CHIWONSOGO", On the other hand, Chinese poems which Chusa wrote for Hwangsang are only a few pieces shown in "WANDANGJEONJIP". Hwangsang first met three brothers including Chusa in September 1853 when he came up to the capital for the 4th time. Jeong Hak-yeon, the oldest son of Dasan Jeang Yak-yong, played an important role in the whole process that Hwangsang met Chusa's three brothers and was recognized as a poet. As the oldest son of Dasan Family, Jeong Hak-yeon made efforts in various ways for Hwangsang. Hwangsang tried his efforts to exhibit his ability as a poet to Chusa and to get Chusa's introduction of his poetical works. Considering Chusa's importance in then literary circles, the introduction seemed to reflect recognition by the literary circles in the metropolis and it also showed that Hwangsang was no more than an obscure poet in the provincial area. Poetical composition of Hwangsang for Chusa three brothers commonly contained friendship, intimacy and special respect at all times. Seeing from exchange process between Hwangsang and Dasan Family or Chusa Family, it is found that mutual exchanges were actively made in the mid-nineteenth century overcoming regional differentiation between capital and province, or feudalism class distinction of social positions of the nobles and the commoners.
