Peak cooling load of large buildings is generally greater than their peak heating load. Internal and solar heat gains are used fur selection of adquate equipment in large building in cold winter climate like Canada and even Korea. The cost of geothermal heat exchanger to meet the cooling loads can increase the initial cost of ground source heat pump system to the extend less costly conventional system often chosen. Thermal ice storage system has been used for many years in Korea to reduce chiller capacity and shift Peak electrical time and demand. A distribution system designed to take advantage of heat extracted from the ice, and use of geothermal loop (geothermal heat exchanger) to heat as an alternate heat source and sink is well known to provide many benifits. The use of thermal energy storage (TES) reduces the heat pump capacity and peak cooling load needed in large building by as much as 40 to $60\%$ with less mechanical equipment and less space for mechanical room. Additionally TES can reduce the size and cost of the geothermal loop by 1/3 to 1/4 compared to ground coupled heat pump system that is designed to meet the peak heating and cooling load and also can eliminate difficuties of geothermal loop installation such as space requirements and thermal conditions of soil and rock at the urban area.

As a new technical approach, the achievement of an eco-environmental leisure boat with a photovoltaic system is attempted by simultaneously actuating nine photovoltaic solar panels, in association with an applied sail control system by use of wind. In this approach, the photovoltaic system consists of a solar module, an inverter, a battery, and relevant components, while the sail control device is equipped with a sail up/down and mast-turning instrument. Furthermore, this research conducts a performance evaluation of the manufactured prototype and acquires the purposed quantity value and the development purpose items. The significant items-sail up/down speed (seconds) and mast turning angle (degrees)-are evaluated during the performance test. In the process of the performance evaluation, a wind direction sensitivity of 90% and a maximum instant charging power of 900 W were also obtained. In addition, the maximum sail time is evaluated in order to acquire the optimum quantity.

After the Paris Agreement in 2015, the government has been promoting various policies such as 'Hydrogen-Economy Roadmap(2019)' to supply hydrogen. As part of this, the government announced the goal of building 310 hydrogen refueling stations(HRS) until 2022. To this end, special case standard for the introduction of complex, packaged, and mobile hydrogen refueling stations(MHRS) have been enacted and promulgated. The MHRS has the advantage of being able to supply hydrogen to multiple regions. However, due to the movement and close distance between facilities, it is necessary to secure proper installation standards and operational safety through safety analysis. In this study, the possibility of introduction was investigated by designing a standard model and quantitative risk assessment(QRA). As a result of QRA, personal and social risk were acceptable, and the empirical test direction and implications were derived.
In this study, a quantitative risk assessment was carried out for a hydrogen complex station. The complex fueling station to be evaluated was hydrogen-LPG, and the components of each station were analyzed and the risk was evaluated. The final risk is assessed by individual and societal risks, taking into account the impact of damage and the frequency of accidents. As a result of individual risk calculation for the hydrogen-LPG fueling station that is the subject of this study, the hydrogen-LPG type fueling station does not show the unacceptable hazardous area (> 1 × 10E-3) proposed by HSE. The level of individual risk for both the public and the worker is within acceptable limits. In societal risk assessment, the model to be interpreted shows the distribution of risks in an acceptable range(ALARP, As Low As Reasonably Practicable). To ensure improved safety, we recommend regular inspections and checks for high-risk hydrogen reservoirs, dispensers, tube trailer leaks, and LPG vapor recovery lines.
The entertainment system of the aircraft has changed its paradigm in the form of using passenger electronic devices instead of using a fixed monitor. This has simplified the on-board equipment while the risk of safety has increased with the electric charging of portable electronic devices. Unlike personal portable electronic devices that do not have a transmission function, the use of Wi-Fi enabled electronic devices(T-PED) is allowed and the battery is required to be charged in the cabin. In this study, we used the NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System to investigate the effects of changes in wireless environment and entertainment service. Based on this, we analyzed the risks of personal electronic devices by sharing event occurrence cases caused by in-flight electronic equipment or passenger portable electronic devices(especially smart phones) from the viewpoint of aircraft safety management. This analysis includes identification of potential hazards and risk assessment, and finally the strategies for risk mitigation for safe use of portable electronic devices are suggested.
Due to the climate changing, the world's countries are tightening regulations on CO2 and air pollutants emission to solve them. In addition, eco friendly vehicles is increasing to replace automobiles in internal combustion engine. Recently, the government is supporting the expansion of hydrogen refueling infrastructure and localization of core equipment in refueling facilities according to the hydrogen economy road map. In this study, design of the Excess flow limiting device in FCEV cylinder valve using by finite element analysis and performed performance tests on prototype. Major test results as hydrostatic strength, continued operation, operation, pressure impulse, leakage showed that the excess flow limiting device meets the performance requirements according to ISO 12619-2 and ISO 12619-11.

Currently, the government's announcement of the Korean version of the New Deal Comprehensive Plan ('20.7.14), expanding the supply of hydrogen production and charging facilities, and major companies are rapidly building related facilities such as liquefied hydrogen plants and charging stations. However, safety standards for production, storage facilities, transportation, and utilization of liquefied hydrogen value chains in Korea are insufficient, and safety technologies and safety standards over the entire period of liquefied hydrogen are urgently needed. Accordingly, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation is trying to realize a safe hydrogen economy in Korea by enacting safety standards over the entire period, including liquefied hydrogen plants

With the recent activation of the offshore wind power industry, there has been a development of power plants with a scale exceeding 400MW, comparable to traditional thermal power plants. Renewable energy, characterized by intermittency depending on the energy source, is a prominent feature of modern renewable power generation facilities, which are structured based on controllable inverter technology. As the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid expands, the grid codes for power system connection are progressively becoming more defined, leading to active discussions and evaluations in this area. In this paper, we propose a method for selecting optimal reactive power compensation capacity when multiple offshore wind farms are integrated and connected through a shared interconnection facility to comply with grid codes. Based on the requirements of the grid code, we analyze the reactive power compensation and excessive stability of the 400MW wind power generation site under development in the southwest sea of Jeonbuk. This analysis involves constructing a generation site database using PSS/E (Power System Simulation for Engineering), incorporating turbine layouts and cable data. The study calculates reactive power due to charging current in internal and external network cables and determines the reactive power compensation capacity at the interconnection point. Additionally, static and dynamic stability assessments are conducted by integrating with the power system database.

A theoretical one-dimensional model for the charging process in stratified thermal storage tanks is established presuming that the fluid ensuing from the tank inlet creates a perfectly mixed, layer above the thermocline. Both the generic and asymptotic closed-form solutions are obtained via the Laplace transformation. The asymptotic solution describes the nature of the charging pertaining to the case of no thermal diffusion, whereas the generic solution is of practical importance to understand the role of operating parameters on the stratification. The present model is validated through comparison with available experimental data, where they agree well with each other within a reasonable limit. An interpretation of the exact solution entails two important features associated with the charging process. The first is that an in-crease in the mixing depth $h_m$ causes a relatively slow temperature rise in the perfectly mixed region, but on the other hand it results in a faster decay of the overall temperature gradient across the thermocline. Next is the predominance of the mixing depth in the presence of the prefectly mixed region. In such a case the effect of the Peclet number is marginal and there-fore the thermal characteristics are solely dependent on the mixing depth paticularly for large $h_m$. The Peclet number affects significantly only for the case without mixing. Variation of the storage efficiency in response to the change in the mass flow rate agrees favorably with the published experimental results, which confirms the utility of the present study.
