A Study on the Simultaneous Ignition and Flow Distribution of Hybrid Rocket Clustering Model (하이브리드 로켓 클러스터링 모델의 동시 점화 및 유량 분배 연구)

  • This study aims to acquire a basic clustering technology of hybrid rocket motor for lunar lander, including the oxidizer flow distribution characteristic and the simultaneous ignition characteristic. The experimental setups were established to conduct a series of ground firing test of a clustered motor. The gaseous oxygen (GOX) and the HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) were used as the oxidizer and the solid fuel, respectively. Experimental results which are the simultaneous pyrotechnic ignition characteristic, the oxidizer distribution characteristic and the pressure traces of each combustion chamber imply that the hybrid rocket clustered motor works successfully.

  • Accurate thrust measurement is very important when developing an engine of propulsion system. Especially for a low thrust liquid rocket engine(LRE), accuracy of thrust is seriously affected by thrust measurement errors and thurst losses which are caused by propellant supply system. In this study, a new thrust measurement system is developed for accurate thrust measurement of a low thurst LRE by minimizing these effects. Its thrust measurement range is 150~1500N and the maximum error is below 10N. Also, a reliability appraisal technique is investigated to improve reliability and accuracy of the thrust measurement system.

  • Power supply for railway cars can be divided into propulsion system power supply and auxiliary power units (APU). The propulsion system power supply is for propulsion of railway cars, and regenerative braking; the APU provides power for the air compressor, lighting, car control and other auxiliary parts. According to high voltage and high current specifications, generally, an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) is adopted for the switching component. For appropriate switching operation, a gate driver unit (GDU) is essentially required. In this paper, the technical trends of GDU for railway cars are analyzed and a design consideration for IGBT GDU is described.

  • In this study, we described the Pyrovalve used in the propulsion system. It is very important to reduce Pyrovalve-debris as far as possible because Pyrovalve is a pyrotechnic device for controlling fuel and air line of propulsion system. So we focused on redesigning to reduce debris through several analyses and tests.

  • 개방형 액체로켓엔진 시스템에 대한 동특성 예측 프로그램을 작성하였다. 이 프로그램을 통해 얻은 펌프 시동 시 시간에 따른 압력 및 유량 변화 결과를 수류실험장치를 구축하여 실험적으로 검증하였다. 수류실험장치는 실제 액체로켓엔진 추진제 공급 계통에서 구성품의 형태와 배치위치, 가스발생기와 주연소실로 분기되는 유량비를 기준으로 모사되었다. 측정 시 관로가 채워진 상태에서 펌프를 시동하였으며 펌프는 전동기로 구동된다. 동특성 예측 프로그램의 작성을 위해 구성품별 동특성 모델링을 수행하고 엔진 시스템을 기준으로 각 모델링을 순차적으로 통합하였다. 구성품의 동특성 파라미터를 측정 반영하였고 압력 밸런싱을 통해 수렴 조건이 결정된다. 수렴된 밀도와 유량을 가지고 다음 시간에서의 초기 입력 값으로 대체하여 계산을 수행하였다. 천이 작동 상태에서 엔진 시스템 내의 물리량 변화를 전산 예측과 더불어 실험적으로 측정하고 비교하였다.

  • 155mm 탄에 항력감소장치(Base Bleed Unit)를 부착하여 탄의 비행중에 형성되는 탄저부의 항력(Base Drag)을 감소시켜 사거리를 연장하는 무기체계가 미국을 비롯한 많은 국가에서 실용화되고 있다. 국내에서는 국과연 주관사업으로 이미 신형자주포에 적용되는 155mm 탄의 항력감소장치를 개발, 사거리 약 35%를 증가하여 실용화 단계에 있다. 또한 최근에는 미제 M864급인 155mm 성능개량 DPICM(Dual purpose Improved Conventional Munition)탄과 동등 성능을 갖는 탄의 개발이 요구되어, 이의 항력감소제인 저연소속도 추진제를 개발하여 155mm DPICM탄에 적용한 결과 약 20%의 사거리가 증가된 미제와 동등한 성능의 항력감소제를 개발하여, 이를 보고한바 있다.

  • In this study, numerical analysis has been performed to investigate the flow characteristics of a drag improvement device which is designed to achieve accurate impact point. The drag increase due to drag improvement device has been analyzed. And the effect of spread angle and location of drag improvement device has also been investigated. The drag improvement device with 20 degree spread angle increased the drag 3.5 times. The corresponding weight of the device is found out to be 26g.

  • This paper introduces the method how to measure the thrust in impulse facility. In a Facility having such a short duration time of steady flow, there's no time to reach a steady state of the forces acting on model so that the test model vibrates until the end of the flow. The forces exerted on an engine exist with vibration so that the usual force balance can not be used. SWFB(Stress Wave Force Balance) technique is utilized in a shock tunnel to get the thrust. As an example, a model force balance has been calculated its strain against impulse force by using FEM(Finite Element Method). A transfer function between the impulse force and strain has been obtained by the way of de-convolution.
