A Study on the Economical Analysis of the Composite Precast Concrete Method (프리캐스트 콘크리트 복합화공법의 경제성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we select a site adopting real composite precast concrete method. Estimating real construction cost and imaginary cost appling reinforced concrete method in the site, we compare the costs. Through using high intensity concrete and prestressed concrete, amount of concrete is reduced more than 50% but there isn't big gap in material cost. In the main construction cost of composite precast concrete method, the material cost with production cost and transportation cost are in that, joints and topping concrete are account for 90%. But in case of reinforced concrete, labor cost spent at concrete steel bar and form is account for 30%. In the cost of attached, compared with composite precast concrete method, the reinforced concrete method taken in big portion by temporary work and scaffolding is twice as much as composite precast concrete method in construction cost. Therefore, economic efficiency is excellent reducing 11% total cost of composite precast concrete method from the reinforced concrete method.

  • In the wake of increased concerns on reduction of greenhouse emission which started with United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto protocol, Korean government is making various efforts under the represented slogan "Low Carbon, Green Growth". Therefore, it is inevitable that construction industry also follow the Korea government's slogan and the international trend in environmental problems. This study identified several main construction materials and equipments of civil construction projects and suggested a environmental cost estimation method and related estimation standards (Public and private owners are distinguished). A case analysis of a real road construction project is also performed and characteristics according to the owner type is compared. This study analyzed the environmental impact to total construction cost variations. In the result, public owner required 11~16% of extra budget and private owner required 19~22% of extra costs. This study is limited in consideration of environmental factors and carbon trading prices.

  • The purpose of this study is to calculate delay damages for contractors. The study has been performed by investigation of delay cost occurrence status and the analysis of subway construction cases. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Delay cost( 1day) equivalent to $0.005\%$ of total construction cost by analysis case studies. 2. Including bank interest, dealy cost is analysed as the following; $1.1\~9.2\%$ of total construction cost in part extension period, $3.3\~11.0\%$ of total construction cost in total extension period. 3. In comparison between liquidated damages and delay cost, liquidated damages account for average 20.1 times of delay costs. 4. Acceleration cost will be calculate on the basis of delay cost calculation method. In the result of this method, acceleration cost is equal to delay cost at least or must be large than delay cost

  • 본 연구는 화재감시용 R형 중계기와 수신기에 일반방송 및 비상방송기능을 추가하여 이를 통합적으로 운영할 수 있도록 한 것이다. 이를 위해 소방용 중계기에 구역별로 스피커를 제어할 수 있는 기능을 부가하고, 화재수신기에는 디지털방식의 초소형으로 제작된 방송앰프를 내장하여 제작하였다. 제작된 시스템은 기존의 방식과 비교하여 장비의 설치공간을 감소시킴과 동시에 간선공사비용을 최소화하여 경제적인 시공이 가능한 것을 확인하였다.

  • The object of this paper is to evaluate on constructability of modular steel frame with the hollow structural steel section to LEB C-shape. A modular building is built with factory-manufacture and site-construction. The advantage of a Modular building presents that enhanced building quality, shortened construction period and easy at an expansion and enlargement for buildings but also has demerits such as size restriction of the modular units according to the Road Traffic Law and Inflexibility of the unit composition. So in this study we use light-weighted structure members with bolted joint for easy Knock-down and traffic, also we evaluated the constructability of this bolted joints type modular buildings.

An Effect Analysis of Subtracting Rebar Volumes in Reinforced Concrete Members on Quantity Take-off (콘크리트 내 철근 부피 공제가 물량산출에 미치는 영향)

  • Reinforced Concrete is the most dominant structure type for buildings in South Korea. Reinforced Concrete is one of materials having the most cost and quantity at construction projects. It is important to manage concrete quantity so that the total project cost is not affected due to underestimate or overestimate of its quantity. Generally the concrete quantity is taken-off based on the volume of the space inside forms without subtracting volumes of rebar embedded, which cannot be considered to make quite accurate results. Resource waste and extra cost due to over or under estimate of quantity occur since they cannot estimate accurate quantity at practices. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of the volume for rebars embedded in reinforced concrete members. By comparing the quantity based on the existing method with the one from BIM data, it was found that about 1~2% of quantity discrepancy was observed while the typical concrete waste rate is 1 % at the current practice.

  • Recently, the constructions of widening bridges or new bridges are often undergoing as a part of road widening because traffic volumes are rapidly increasing caused by fast-growing population and urbanization. But in general, there is no rational decision process and specification to justify the validity of the bridge widening. Moreover, there are also numerous events including various uncertainties involved in widening bridges. In this paper, therefore, a decision making model is proposed for widening bridges using decision tree based on quantitative LCC analysis considering a variety of uncertainties for the rational and practical approach to a quantitative decision making for alternatives.

Critical Management Factors of Fluid-Applied Membrane Waterproofing Work for building basements (지하층 도막방수공사의 중점관리요인)

  • One role of waterproofing work is to block external moisture and water. Defects in waterproofing work in building construction brings on huge repair costs for related construction work as well as for the waterproofing layer itself. However, we don't have a quantitative probabilistic management method for waterproofing work to successfully anticipate and prevent defects. From an analysis of the literature and prior research, defects in the waterproofing work in the underground parts of buildings occur frequently. We selected Fluid-Applied Membrane waterproofing work as representing waterproofing work in the underground parts of a building, and researched the general types and causes of defects. In this study, we developed the Relative-FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) approach that merges the Matrix method and FMEA. From a survey of experts, we deduced the most important management factors for Fluid-Applied Membrane waterproofing work for the underground parts of buildings.

Technical Proposal based Bidding System Applying the Concept of the Lowest Total Combined Bid Price for Supplying Affordable Housing (최저통합환산가격 개념을 적용한 기술제안 기반 입찰제도)

  • Recently, resettlement problems of low income groups in the urban regeneration area have been issued in Korea because they have no capability to purchase (or lease) redeveloped housing (or apartment). There are several approaches for supplying affordable housing and one of these is the bidding system which can reduce construction cost. However, the lowest bidding system has many problems such as dumping and substandard quality. In this context, this study proposed bidding system based on technical proposal applying the concept of the lowest total combined bid price for optimization of bid price, reduction of construction cost and period, and maintenance of suitable quality. This bidding system embraces the best value and cost plus time concept on the basis of an improved lowest price bidding system. It consists of the following components: work unit based, project unit based, and period reducing technical proposals. The proposed bidding system for determining bidders are designed to evaluate the adequacy of each technical proposal in the order of the combined minimum price in an effort to effectively optimize bid prices and reduce the construction periods, as well as to maintain a minimum appropriate quality.
