The Effects of Tidal Volume on Minimal Occlusion Pressure of Endotracheal Tube Cuff in Patients with Same Peak Inspiratory pressure (동일한 최고 흡기압(Peak inspiratory pressure)에서 기관 내관 풍선(Endotracheal tube cuff)의 최소 밀폐압(Minimal occlusion pressure)에 대한 상시량의 영향)

  • Background : An excessive endotracheal cuff pressure can cause tracheal injury, and insufficient cuff pressure may not generate an effective cuff seal. The peak inspiratory pressure influences the minimal occlusion pressure of the endotracheal tube cuff. However, the relationship between the minimal occlusion pressure and the tidal volume has not been investigated. This study was conducted to estimate the relationship between the tidal volume and the minimal occlusion pressure of the cuff. Methods : Ten mechanically ventilated patients were included. The minimal occlusion pressure of the cuff was measured using a pressure gauge. The basal tidal volume was increased and decreased as much as 10% whilst maintaining the same peak inspiratory pressure. The, minimal occlusion pressures were then measured in the high and low tidal volume state, respectively. Results : The peak inspiratory pressure was $32.6{\pm}4.72cmH_2O$ and the minimal occlusion pressure was $19.0{\pm}2.26$ mmHg in the basal ventilator setting. There was a significant relationship between the peak inspiratory pressure and the minimal occlusion pressure(r=0.77, p<0.01). The minimal occlusion pressure of the cuff was increased to $20.3{\pm}2.4$ mmHg in the high tidal volume state(p<0.05), and decreased to $16.8{\pm}3.01$ mmHg in the low tidal volume state (p<0.001). Conclusion : The minimal occlusion pressure of the cuff can be influenced by changes in the tidal volume as well as by the peak inspiratory pressure.

Numerical Study on the Supply and Exhaust Port Size and Fire Management Method in the Semi-transverse Ventilation System for Road Tunnel (도로터널 반횡류환기시스템에서 급배기 포트개도 및 화재시 운영방안에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • In semi-transverse ventilation system applied for road tunnel, adjustment of the port opening ratio is an essential part for uniform airflow rate per unit length over the entire tunnel. However, it has not been considered decently throughout the design process and operating of the tunnel. Therefore, in this study, we developed a program for the calculation of the opening size ratio of supply or exhaust port in transverse ventilation system and carried out the research to present a management plan for the port. In supply duct system, the opening size of the port had a tendency to increase and then decrease later when it gradually becomes closer toward the bulkhead at the beginning of the duct the minimum opening degree is to appeared as 56%. In the exhaust system, port size is the smallest at the beginning of duct as 15%, has shown a tendency to increase towards the bulk head. As results of estimating the air flow rate for 300 m intervals, the exhaust flow rate in the center of tunnel appeared to be extremely low as 8.1% and 12.5% when port size is constant and is adjusted supply type. Thus, even if the normal ventilation efficiency is declines, yet it is highly recommend adjusting the port size in order to obtain a uniform flow rate at fire accidents.

Study on the Ventilation System Applicability of High-rise Hog Building for Growing-fattening (고상식 육성비육돈사에 적합한 환기시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The goal of this study was to develop a suitable ventilation system for high-rise hog building (HRHB) for growing-fattening with combined slatted floor pen in second story and in situ manure management system in Korea. The HRHB was constructed as 29m long, 9m wide and 7.6m high for outer dimension with an indoor height of 3.1m and 2.4 for lower and upper floor, respectively. Ventilation systems for each treatment were installed in separated rooms of HRHB. The ventilation types installed in each room were following 3 types: ventilation type 1 (V1), where air was pulled through a circular duct inlet and exhausted by fans; ventilation type 2 (V2), where air was pulled through eave inlet (side ceiling inlet) and exhausted by fans; and ventilation type 3 (V3), where air was pulled through baffled ceiling inlet and exhausted by fans. For each ventilation system, investigated air velocity under minimum, medium and maximum ventilation ratio and air flow pattern inside. The results were as follows; For air flow pattern from top to bottom, V1 showed a homogeneous vertical type, V2 showed a bilateral symmetry type and V3 showed an vertical umbrella type. Under minimum ventilation ratio, air velocity in upper floor (80cm above the slated floor) was similar for V1, V2, and V3. Under maximum ventilation ratio, air velocity in upper floor was undeviating for V1 (0.10~0.26m/s) and varied for V2 (0.12~0.63m/s) while those for V3 was relatively slow and less varied (0.07~0.15m/s). In conclusion, Duct inlet type (V1) can be applied to the development of a new HRHB with additional evaluations such as field test hog feeding.

A Study on the Effective Fire and Smoke Control in Semi-Transverse Ventilation (균일배기 환기방식에서의 배연특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study it is intended to review the moving characteristics of smoke by performing visualization simulation for the calculation of the optimal smoke exhaust air volume in case a fire occurs in tunnels where transverse ventilation is applied, and to obtain basic data necessary for the design of smoke exhaust systems by deriving optimal smoke exhaust operational conditions under various conditions. As a result of this study, if it was assumed 0 critical velocity in the tunnel, the smoke exhaust air volume was limited within 250 meter in the road-tunnel disaster prevention indicator and the exhaust efficiency was from 55.1% to 95.8% in the result of this study. If the wind velocity is in the tunnel, the exhaust rate intends to increase rapidly and the exhaust efficiency is decreased. In addition, if the wind velocity is increased, the exhaust rate should be increased in compared with the generation rate of smoke in maximum 1.8 or 1.04 times. In this study, when the wind velocity is in the tunnel, the limited exhaust rate is $84m^3/s{\cdot}250m$. And if it was assumed 1.75 m/s critical velocity in the tunnel, the exhaust rate would be defined $393m^3/s{\cdot}250m$($Q_E$ = 80 + 5Ar).

  • 개요- 반도체 시장의 확대 및 소자의 고집적화와 장비의 초정밀화 등 고정도 생산성을 요구하는 현대 진공산업 시장에서는 정밀한 제품을 대량으로 생산할 수 있도록 지원할 수 있는 대용량 장비의 수요가 급증하고 있다. 서론- 하루가 다르게 발전하는 기술 경쟁 사회에서는 보다 성능이 좋은 제품을 다른 국가 또는 다른 업체와 차별화된 기술적 우위를 선점해야 한다. 본문-이에따라, 고신뢰도, 고생산성이 요구되는 진공산업 시장에 발맞추기 위한 일환으로 크라이오 펌프의 재생시간을 단축시켜 생산성 향상을 높이고, 기존의 제품에서 소비자가 느꼈던 진동을 최소로 줄일 수 있도록 저진동 제품의 설계를 통한 고객 만족의 제품을 개발함과 동시에, 맥동관 냉동기의 기술상업화를 꾀한 극저온기술 영역의 발전을 함께 도모하고자 한다. 현재까지는 국내의 일부 정부출연 연구소와 학교, 일부 특수산업 분야에서만 크라이오 펌프를 사용하고 있으나, 상업적인 설계 및 생산은 완전히 전무한 상태이다. 이는 진공시장의 잠재적인 성장을 고려할 때 국산화가 시급한 상황이다. 이러한, 상황을 고려하여 현재 기계연구원과 우성진공, 국민대학교가 맥동관 냉동기를 접목시킨 급속재생형 저진동 크라이오 펌프를 지난 2008년부터 산학연 협동으로 개발 진행 중에 있다. 크라이오 펌프의 핵심 기술은 냉동기의 효율에 있다고 볼 수 있으며, 이러한 냉동기의 효과를 높이기 위하여, 제작 공정에 진공 브레이징을 사용하여, 열교환기와 교환기 내의 충진재들과의 정확한 간극을 유지하면서 접합을 할 수 있는 환경요건을 지속적인 실험을 통해 지식을 습득하고 있다. 진공 브레이징은 외관을 아름답고 정교하게 접합할 수 있으므로, 추후 상품으로의 가치를 높일 수 있으며, 서로 다른 이종금속 간의 접합이 가능하여 열교환기의 무산소동과 스테인레스 튜브와의 접합을 가능하게 할 수 있었다. 진공브레이징에 쓰이는 모재는 여러가지가 있으며, 접합의 환경 또한 일반 용접보다 다양하므로 여러번의 실험을 통한다면, 성능은 우수하면서 외관으로 손색이 없는 개발품이 나올수 있겠다는 의견이 모아지고 있는 중이다. 본론- 아직까지는 미국의 CTI사나 일본의 ULVAC 등의 크라이오 펌프의 선진 기업에 비해 기술력이 많이 부족하기는 하지만, 아직 많은 부분이 미개발된 분야이고, 향후 후발국과의 차별을 두어 선진기술을 확보하기 위해서는 기존의 방식을 단순히 따라하는 것이 아닌 남들과 다른 원천기술의 확보가 더 필요하며, 이를 위해 부단한 노력과 시행착오를 거쳐 맥동관 냉동기형 크라이오 펌프라는 기술을 확보할 예정이다.

An Evaluation of Airtightness Performance and Analysis of Energy Savings Potential in Apartment Housing (공동주택의 기밀성능 평가 및 에너지 절감효과 분석)

  • Since the using of heating energy associated with infiltration is significant in a building, the efforts to minimize the infiltration while ensuring minimum ventilation rates for various types of occupancy will be beneficial. In constrast to that many efforts have been made to reduce heat loss by improving thermal resistance of building envelope, little has been tried to reduce heat loss from infiltration. For achieving such an objective, measurement of air leakage rate will be pre-requisite as a diagnostic tool. A blower door system, a depressurization/pressurization method, was employed and it demonstrated a good potential for measuring airtightness performance of residential buildings. Based on the test results, annual energy savings for residential heating was estimated by reducing infiltration to a level of reasonably airtight or to a level of ASHRAE Standard 62-1989 for minimum ventilation.

A Studs on Exposure to Organic Dust and Ammonia in Poultry Confinement Buildings (일부 육용 양계 농업인의 유기먼지와 암모니아 노출에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives: This study was carried out to assess exposure levels of organic dusts and ammonia in poultry farms in Korea. Methods: A total of six poultry farms were investigated. The farms were located in Namwon, Chonlabuk-do and in Kae-San, Chungchongbuk-do. This study consisted of a questionnaire and measuring organic dusts and ammonia. The questionnaire included the characteristics of the farms, work patterns and the tasks of the poultry farms. Results and Conclusions: The farmers raised the chickens 45 times a year and the average number of years in the poultry farm were eight years ranging from 2 to 12 years. They worked for seven days per week and the average hours spent caring the chickens are 6.3 hours per day. The duration of staying in the confinement buildings was 3.3 hours per day. The work time in summer was longest. The feed and the water supply systems were automatic and the control of ventilation windows used "winch curtain" was semiautomatic. They used mechanical ventilation system in winter and used dilution ventilation system in the other seasons. The geometric mean concentration of total and respirable dust sampled in the poultry confinement buildings was 4.0 mg/$m^3$and 0.9 mg/$m^3$ respectively. The ratio of respirable to total dusts range from 9 to 49 percent. There was no sample exceeding the criteria 10 mg/$m^3$ for total dust and 3 mg/$m^3$ for respirable dust in farms. The criteria have been recommended by Korean Ministry of Labor and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist. The personal respirable dusts measured during a circle work averaged geometric mean concentration 1.4 mg/$m^3$ Two personal samples were exceeded the threshold 3 mg/$m^3$. There was a positive relation between an index and the personal samples of respirable dusts($R^2$=0.98). The index is calculated by multipling the total number of chickens in the farm by the age of the chickens and then dividing by the volume of the confinement building. The geometric mean concentration of area and personal ammonia samples was 23.3 ppm and 22.2 ppm, respectively. Some of the ammonia samples, both area and personal samples, exceeded the short term exposure limit value 35 ppm.

  • Although Korea is the world's No. 1 semiconductor producing country, most studies are conducted with risk assessment for simple material risks due to the closedness of the site for industrial protection. In terms of industrial safety, a monitoring system such as a gas detector to determine the leakage of hazardous substances has been established, but research on effectively discharging harmful gastritis substances in case of leakage has only recently begun. Semiconductor manufacturing facilities (gas boxes) where a large amount of flammable materials are handled are currently being safety managed by using a gas detector and blocking the air inlet. It is difficult to dilute in a short time in case of leakage of flammable substances. Therefore, in this study, based on various criteria, the size of the duct according to the size of the gas box is determined and the appropriate size of the air inlet is studied to minimize the exhaust performance requirement without exposing hazardous chemicals to the outside in the event of a flammable leak. We want to do an optimal exhaust design.

The storage characteristic study of pelletized RDF (펠렛형 폐기물 고형연료의 저장 특성 연구)

  • RDF는 장기저장이 가능한 것이 특징 중의 하나이지만, 우리나라보다 앞서 대량저장을 시작한 일본의 RDF 저장 사일로에서 폭발사고가 발생한 사례가 있어, RDF를 실제로 저장하여 RDF 온도 및 가연성가스 발생상황 등을 장기간 감시 측정하여 사일로 안전관리지표를 도출하였다. 실험에 사용한 RDF 저장조는 직경 3.1m, 높이 11.4m의 사일로방식으로 제작하였다. RDF 저장량은 $70m^3$이었으며, 저장기간은 475일이었다. 사일로에는 15개의 열전대를 설치하여 사일로 표면, 직경방향 1.2m 지점 및 기온을 측정하여 수직방향 및 수평방향의 온도변화를 분석하였다. 가스 샘플링포트는 온도측정지점과 동일한 위치 설치하여 진공펌프로 흡인하여 테트라 백에 포집하여 GC로 분석하였으며, 가스샘플링은 17회 실시하였다. 비교적 대형 저장설비이고 RDF가 열전도성이 낮은 물질임에도 불구하고 사일로 내부온도는 기온보다는 높았지만, 기온의 영향을 많이 받아 7월에 정점, 1월에 하점을 나타내는 사인곡선과 같은 패턴을 보였다. 측정지점별 온도차는 수평방향 보다 수직방향에서 높게 나타났으며, RDF층으로 전열 및 축열이 진행되고 생화학반응을 촉진시키는 상승작용의 결과로 월평균온도가 $49^{\circ}C$를 나타내는 지점도 있었다. 실제 사일로는 RDF의 투입과 배출이 연속적으로 진행되어 방열이 이루어지므로 하계에 대량저장을 실시하지 않는 한 RDF층 내부에서 생화학적 반응열이 생성되더라도 $40^{\circ}C$를 상회할 가능성은 매우 희박할 것으로 판단된다. RDF 저장시 발생하는 가스는 대부분 $CO_2$였으며, 미량이지만 $H_2$, CO, $CH_4$도 검출되었다. 가연성 가스는 저장 후 2개월 동안은 발생하지 않았으며, 하계에는 타 계절에 비해 상대적으로 고농도로 검출되었다. 발생가스와 온도 및 $CO_2$$H_2$농도의 상관성은 높게 나타나지 않았지만, 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 저장한 RDF의 성상(수분, 발열량, 분화물)은 실험개시 전의 RDF분석결과와 실험종료 후 분석결과에서는 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 RDF의 안전 저장을 위해서는 (1) 반입되는 RDF성상관리, (2) RDF가 2개월 이상 장기간 체류하는 데드스페이스가 발생하지 않고 선입선출이 확보되는 저장조 설계, (3) 사일로 내부에 최소 3개 이상의 지점에서 온도를 측정하여 상시감시하고 $40^{\circ}C$이하로 관리, (4) 발생가스는 CO, $CO_2$, $H_2$, $CH_4$ 등의 가연성가스를 모두 측정 감시하는 것이 바람직하지만, 최소 $CO_2$$H_2$는 상시감시하고 각각 1%와 100ppm 미만으로 관리, (5) 배풍기 등을 이용한 상시 환기실시, (6) 하계에는 대량저장이 이루어지지 않도록 저장조 운용계획 수립 등을 실시해야 한다.
