This paper suggests an improved method of grouping minterms based on the Decimal-Valued Matrix (DVM) method. The DVM is a novel approach to Boolean logic minimization method which was recently developed by this author. Using the minterm-based matrix layout, the method captures binary number based minterm differences in decimal number form. As a result, combinable minterms can be visually identified. Furthermore, they can be systematically processed in finding a minimized Boolean expression. Although this new matrix based approach is visual-based, the suggested method in symmetric grouping cell values can become rather messy in some cases. To alleviate this problem, the enhanced DVM method that is based on multi-level groupings of combinable minterms is presented in this paper. Overall, since the method described here provides a concise visualization of minterm groupings, it facilitates a user with more options to explore different combinable minterm groups for a given Boolean logic minimization problem.

Waterway design should prioritize appropriate channel width to ensure preferential safe passage for the arrival and departure of vessels. To calculate the minimum channel width required for safe passage a comprehensive review of several factors is required. These factors include vessel maneuverability, determined by vessel size, type and speed; environmental factors such as wind, tide, and wave action; human factors, including personal experience and operator judgment as well as marine traffic and navigation support facilities for decision making. However, the Korean channel width design standard is based only on vessel length, and requires improvement when compared with the standards of PIANC, USA, and Japan. This study aims to estimate the appropriate channel width required for one-way traffic in a straight channel, considering various vessel and environmental factors, using Fast Time Simulation (FTS). When the wind speed is 25 knots, with a current speed of 2 knots and a normal vessel speed of 10 knots FTS shows that a 150K GT Cruise Ship requires a minimum channel width of 0.67-0.91 the vessel length (L), whereas a 120K TEU Container Ship and a 300K DWT VLCC require 0.79-1.17 and 1.02-1.59, respectively. Such results can be used to calculate the minimum channel width required for safe passage as an improved Korean design standard.
This study is aimed to contribute in establishing new port policy by research and analysis in design of global port logistics network in the East Asia region. In order to build such port logistics network, 21 ports located in East Asia among the world's 50th largest ports were selected in this study. Furthermore, the amount of container cargo and the ports of call were analyzed to categorize the subject ports in East Asia. Finally, this study tries to find economic network between the base port in East Asia, EU or North America and feeder ports in terms of logistics cost. As a result, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Busan ports were found as the representative ports in the East Asia that may connect North America and Europe with the minimum logistics expenses. Therefore, to maintain the stable cargo volume in ports, Korea should promote not only the overseas terminal operation which links to the Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai ports, but also establish the global port logistic network connecting the Busan port.
Atmospheric dispersion modelling has been widely used to predict the fate and transport of radioactive or toxic materials released from nuclear facilities which is an unlikely accidental event. To improve the forecasting performance of the dispersion model, it is required that source rate and dispersion characteristics must be defined appropriately. Generally, source term of the radioactive materials is much uncertain at the early phase of an accidental event. In this study, we computed the source rate with the experimental field data monitored at the Yeoung-Kwang nuclear site and obtained the optimal source rate to minimize the errors between the measured concentrations and the computed ones by the Gaussian plume model. Computed source term showed a good result within 24% of the artificially released source rate.

In the case of Quine Mccluskey's methode for Boolean function minimization, we have to examine each bits of binary represented minterms. In this paper, cube relations between misterms that are represented by means of decimal number, and all sorts of rules for Boolean function minimization are described as theorems, and they are verified. And based on these theorems, the new fast algorithm for Boolean function minimization is proposed. An example of manual operation is sholvn, and the process is writed out by a FORTRAN program. In this program, the essential pl.imp implicants of the Boolean function that has 100 each of minterms including redundant minterms, are finked and printed out, (the more minterms can be treated if we take the more larger size of arrays) and the outputs are coincided with the results of manual operation.

This paper proposes a simple algorithm for circuit minimization. There are currently two effective heuristics for circuit minimization, namely manual Karnaugh maps and computable Quine-McCluskey algorithm. The latter, however, has a major defect: the runtime and memory required grow $3^n/n$ times for every increase in the number of variables n. The proposed algorithm, however, extracts the prime implicants (PI) that cover minterms of a given Boolean function by deriving an implicants table based on frequency. From a set of the extracted prime implicants, the algorithm then eliminates redundant PIs again based on frequency. The proposed algorithm is therefore capable of minimizing circuits polynomial time when faced with an increase in n. When applied to various 3-variable and 4-variable cases, it has proved to swiftly and accurately obtain the optimal solutions.
An optimization technique with variable orthogonalization and SVD(singular value decomposition) is examined in a double-Gauss type photographic lens design and its convergence and stability are compared with ordinary least squares and DLS(damped least squares) method. It is known that there are close relationship between the stability of optimization and condition number of nomal equation, the ratio between maximum and minimum of eigenvalues. In this study, the stability is greatly improved by limiting the condition number, the SVD, as expeded. The case of DLS with small damping, orthogonalization and SVD shows the most rapid convergence and stability. It means that the unstability of DLS method with small damping is overcome by using the variable orthogonalization and SVD.

This study aims to enhance the effectivity of VTS(Vessel Traffic Service) control by investigating the minimum safe distance between vessel and vessel, vessel and land(obstacle) for the vessel's safe navigation within the VTS control area. In addition, to suggest basic data for the safe navigation, this study has done survey and analysis to each VTS center, and individual on the minimum safe distance to VTS operators of each ports of korea. Through ocean voyage by training ship, Singapore and Malacca strait's congested vessel traffic zone's control distance was compared and investigated the difference on safe distance by the different VTS operators. As a result, there was huge difference of minimum safe distance between the VTS operators belong to the same center. Over all, the port with gentle coastline, like donghae, the safe distance was wider than the other port. On the other hand, port with complex coastline and frequent entry and departure of the vessel, like mokpo, the safe distance was the shortest of all. Therefore, development of module suitable to port's natural conditions and traffic volume's necessity is required, for the operators affiliated to the same VTS center control according to formal method. Lastly, the full discussion by the expert group about establishment of standard control procedure in the future should be considered as well.
