  • We easily witness that environmental issue is very critical point to affluence upon a restructuring the value system of human being. Therefore it is obvious that this issue affluence upon the field of design as well. The most important feature of environmental issue is 'wholeness' in itself. It means that we have to approach and to solve it as a whole. Also, design is to be done at the same way. The creative professionalism of design could provide a clue to solve the problem, but designer are tend to seek a solution in a just partial way such as recycling and packaging. But those attitude may cause more problems and spread it futhermore. Therefore this study is analysis some recognitive turning factors in order to solve the problems as a whole, and to suggest a appropriate methods according to such a view point. Even internal retrospect in design itself or external demand from the other, If we look away this issue, the real purpose of design, contributing for society, should be diluted by ourselves.

An Analysis of Similarities that Students Construct in the Process of Problem Solving (중학생들이 수학 문장제 해결 과정에서 구성하는 유사성 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate students' constructing similarities in the understanding the problem phase and the devising a plan phase of problem solving. the relation between similarities that students construct and how students construct similarities is researched through case study. Based on the results from the research, authors reached a conclusion as following. All of two students constructed surface similarities in the beginning of the problem solving process and responded to the context of the problem information sensitively. Specially student who constructed the similarities and the difference in terms of a specific dimension by using diagram for herself could translate the equation which used to solve the base problem or the experienced problem into the equation of the target problem solution. However student who understood globally the target problem being based on the surface similarity could not translate the equation that she used to solve the base problem into the equation of target problem solution.

Polanyi's Epistemology and the Tacit Dimension in Problem Solving (폴라니의 인식론과 문제해결의 암묵적 차원)

  • It can be said that the teaching and learning of mathematical problem solving has been greatly influenced by G. Polya. His heuristics shows down the explicit process of mathematical problem solving in detail. In contrast, Polanyi highlights the implicit dimension of the process. Polanyi's theory can play complementary role with Polya's theory. This study outlined the epistemology of Polanyi and his theory of problem solving. Regarding the knowledge and knowing as a work of the whole mind, Polanyi emphasizes devotion and absorption to the problem at work together with the intelligence and feeling. And the role of teachers are essential in a sense that students can learn implicit knowledge from them. However, our high school students do not seem to take enough time and effort to the problem solving. Nor do they request school teachers' help. According to Polanyi, this attitude can cause a serious problem in teaching and learning of mathematical problem solving.

The Features of Intuitive Thinking Emerged During Problem Solving Activities About Thermal Phenomena: When Intuitive Thinking Appears and How it is Related to Logical Thinking (열 현상에 대한 초등학생들의 문제해결 과정에서 나타나는 직관적 사고의 특징 -발현의 맥락 및 논리적 사고와의 관계를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the features of elementary students' intuitive thinking emerged during problem solving activities as it related to thermal phenomena, focusing on when intuitive thinking appears and how it is related to logical thinking. For this, we presented a problem related to thermal phenomena to nine 5th-grade students, and examined how students' thinking emerged in the activities. We conducted clinical interviews to investigate the thinking process of students. The results of this study are as follows. First, students made their own solutions and justified it later during the emergence process of intuitive thinking. It was also found that students connected concrete materials and abstract concepts intuitively. They solved the problem by making predictions even when information is insufficient. Second, it was shown that intuitive thinking can emerge through the intended strategies such as drawing a mental image, thinking from a different perspective, and integrating methods. These results, which are related to the students' intuitive thinking has received little attention and will be the basis for helping students in the context of discovery of their problem solving activities.

Designing an Instructional Model for Smart Technology-Enhanced Team-Based Learning (스마트 테크놀로지를 활용한 팀 기반 학습 모형 설계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore and develop a new instructional approach to a technology-enhanced, collaborative learning environment called Smart technology-enhanced Team-Based Learning (S-TBL). We designed a novel instructional model that combines mobile technology, collaborative teamwork, a problem-solving process, and a variety of evaluation techniques from the viewpoint of a conventional team-based model. Based on the traditional TBL model, we have integrated smart learning technologies: 1) to provide a holistic learning environment that integrates learning resources, assessment tools, and problem solving spaces; and 2) to enhance collaboration and communication between team members and between an instructor and his or her students. The S-TBL instructional approach combines: 1) individual learning and collaborative team learning; 2) conceptual learning and problem-solving & critical thinking; 3) both individual and group assessment; 4) self-directed learning and teacher-led instruction; and 5) personal reflection and publication.

  • 최근 우리나라의 경제 발전에 따른 산업 규모가 총체적으로 증가함으로써 그에 따른 산업용수의 사용량이 크게 증가하고 있다. 산업용수 사용량의 증가는 제한된 수자원의 부족과 방류 산업용수에 의한 수질오염 등의 문제가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 산업용수중 약70%를 차지하는 각종 냉각수의 재이용이 필요하다.(중략)
