Wired and Wileless Dualization Algorithm for Tension Sensing Smart Fence System (스마트 철조망 장력센서를 위한 유무선 이중화 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposed an efficient algorithm for tension sensing smart fence system with wireless sensor transmission module installation and alarming services. The wired transmission system demonstrates high accuracy and low latency, but the cost is expensive and transmission error may occur. For these reasons, this paper presented to use wireless transmission communication using Zigbee module technology in order to decrease delay and latency and solve the battery issues.

  • Recently, there has been increasing concern regarding the collapse of hydraulic structures due to abnormal climate conditions. Therefore, numerous studies of the collapse of hydraulic structures have been carried out. In particular, the velocity of the propagation of a flood wave-front is important for predicting the inundation safety and establishing an EAP (Emergency Action Plan). Although many hydraulic tests have been conducted for precise predictions of a flood wave-front, the scale effect from downsizing has not considered. In this study, the relationships between surface tension and the concentration of surfactant, between surface tension and the velocity of flood wave propagation, and between surface tension and the Weber Number were derived through hydraulic tests using a surfactant and image analysis equipment. Based on these relations, the modification factor for the scale effect of the front of flood wave propagation was suggested. The results highlight the necessity of a modification factor when the Weber Number is lower than 12.2, but the scale effect can be ignored when the Weber Number over 12.2.

Determination of an Optimum Initial Cable Tension Force for Cable-Stayed Bridges using the Least Square Method (최소자승법을 이용한 사장교의 적정 케이블 장력 결정)

  • This study presents a method of determining the optimum cable tension forces for the proper initial equilibrium state of a cable-stayed bridge using the least square method. The proposed method minimizes the errors, i.e., the differences, such as the deflection and the moments of the girder and the tower, between the target values from a continuous beam by considering the cable anchor point as supports of the girder and the responses obtained from the analysis of the entire cable-stayed bridge system. Especially, the proposed method can selectively control the adjustment of the tower moment, the girder moment, and the deflections by introducing the weighing matrix. Through numerical analysis and comparisons with existing studies, the usefulness and validity of the proposed method was verified.

  • This paper presents a simplified analysis method of determining the initial shape of suspension bridges, including the horizontal tension force of the main cable and the locations of each hanging point, considering the force equilibrium condition of each hanging point. This method is effective because it requires less effort than the methods used in other studies, for which complicated non-linear analysis was used, to comparatively determine the exact initial shape. The accuracy and validity of the present method are demonstrated by comparing the results of this study with those of previous researchers' numerical examples, including 2D and 3D models.

  • There are two kinds of method to calculate the equivalent friction coefficients at V groove. One is to consider the firction in radial direction. The other is to neglect the friection in radial direction. The values calculated from the two methods is different of which ratio is in the range from two times to five times. So it is necessary to study which is correct in the view of force equilibrium and machine design.

An Improved Method for Initial Shape Analysis of Subpension Bridges (현수교의 개선된 초기형상 해석법)

  • The extended tangent stiffness matrices and force-deformation relations of the elastic catenary element were initially derived through the addition of the unstrained length of cables to unknown nodal 'displacements. A beam-column element was then introduced to model the deck and pylon of cable-stayed bridges. The conventional geometric nonlinear analysis, initial force method, and TCUD method were summarized, with an effective method combining two methods presented to determine the initial shapes of cable-stayed bridges with dead loads. In this combined method, TCUD method was applied to eliminate vertical and horizontal displacements at cable-supported points of decks and on top of pylons, respectively. The initial force method was also adopted to eliminate horizontal and vertical displacements of decks and pylons. Finally, the accuracy and validity of the proposed combined method were demonstrated through numerical examples.

A Study on the Manufacturing Processability of Automatic Winding Device for Manufacturing Strand Specimens (스트랜드 시편 제작 장치의 제작 공정성 연구)

  • In this study, when strand specimens were manufactured using an automatic winding device to obtain uniform strand specimens, analysis and test were conducted to investigate the effect of thermal expansion of the mandrel on strand specimens. Also, necessity of changing materials and mandrel configuration was checked. According to the results, strand specimen received unintended tension that was created by thermal expansion of the mandrel and this unintended tension depended on the curing temperature and position of specimens. Tensile test was conducted to check that initial tension affected on the performance of carbon fiber tow prepreg. All other conditions were fixed and only the initial tension was controlled at 40 N, 60 N, and 80 N. From the results of analysis and test, neither additional tension and tension deviation due to the thermal expansion of the mandrel and the initial tension difference had a significant effect on tensile test results, because carbon fiber had sufficiently high strength compared with tension. Therefore, it was confirmed that the change of the mandrel material and configuration of the automatic winding device was unnecessary.

  • 본 논문에서는 텐셔닝 에어빔 시스템(Tensioning Air Beam System: 이하 TABS)의 휨실험 및 수치해석를 통하여 TABS의 성능을 고찰하고자 한다. TABS는 스위스의 엠파(EMPA)에서 Tensairity라는 이름으로 처음 제안되어져, 다수의 연구결과가 발표되었으나 설계에 있어 중요한 변수인 압력, 케이블 장력과 시스템 구조성능의 상관관계가 명확치 않으므로 실제 구조물의 적용에는 정성적, 정량적인 자료가 불충분하다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 텐셔닝 에어빔의 구조성능 파악을 목적으로, 다양한 압력조건과 케이블의 초기장력에 대한 구조실험을 실시하였고, 유한요소법을 이용한 해석결과와 실험값을 비교하여 제안모델의 유효성을 검토하였다.

Behavior of Mooring Line of Silt Protector According to the Change of Sea Level (조위변화에 따른 오탁방지막 계류라인의 거동)

  • This paper studies the behavior of mooring line of silt protector according to the change of sea level. It is found from the analysis of the behavior that if the taut cable length has been determined appropriately within the range of safety factor, the tensioned cable has almost constant tension regardless of the water depth. The whole structure, however, becomes unstable due to the loss (zero tension) of the released cable tension. It is also recognized from the investigation for the effect of intial straight line angle on the behavior of mooring line that the design through the conceptually combined consideration of the cable tension, total scope and buoy deflection has to be required in the mooring analysis. Finally, the material of cable is not damaged because the cable tension is reduced by attached shellfish, but the whole structure may be also unstable by the effect on the anchor angle, total scope and buoy deflection.
