  • The financial value of early stage start-up has a tendency to depend more on the non-financial factors, but these are not efficiently reflected in the traditional valuation models. Therefore, most of valuation practices for early stage start-ups heavily relied on the guts of experts. To remedy this, this study suggests a model to directly reflect the non-financial factors especially for the real options approach. Actual process of valuation and the adjustment way were developed considering the characteristics of early stage start-ups in the game industry.

  • This paper explores how interface environments have an influence on novice users' performance in social virtual worlds (SVWs), which are emerging user-centric three-dimensional cyberspaces. Despite their early popularity, SVWs have experienced that numerous new users leave the cyberspaces soon before they become long-term users. One possible reason is that unfamiliar interfaces of SVWs can be a barrier to novice users' adaptation of the technology. To understand a role of interfaces in the users' assimilation of SVWs, we examine an impact of three interface factors (presence, affordance, and feedback) on performance which is regarded as a yardstick for users' adaptation of SVWs. Forty participants were recruited and went through one-hour experimental sessions with seven tasks in Second Life; they were also asked to answer a questionnaire. Findings indicate that while affordance and feedback are significant factors influencing novice users' performance, presence has no impact on their performance.

  • In this study, there is a purpose of research to secure competitiveness through the effective utilization of intangible corporate resources of founded enterprises. For this research, we conducted a survey on the way the customers who used the products of the BI center and founders less than 7 years evaluated the founded company. Schmitt's empirical element was examined as a theoretical background, and it was examined whether these empirical factors and attitudes acted as a preprocess in the decision-making process as a repurchase intention. The Result of research is as follows. First, It clearly indicated that customer experience and search experience affected the degree of re-purchase. Second, customer's experience (use experience, search experience, contact experience) were grasped with significant influence on customer's attitude. Third, we discovered that customer's attitude had mediated between customer's experience (use experience, search experience) and re-purchase. This research suggests that if we manage empirical factors well, we can increase the degree of re-purchase and cope appropriately with the limitations of small and medium enterprises.

  • In this study, we analyzed the longitudinal effect of participation in an overseas exchange student program on foreign language competence, intercultural competence, and personal development. Data were collected over three time points from the pre-, post-, and post-post tests with Korean college students who participated in an overseas exchange program. Hierarchical linear model was conducted to examine whether the change of participation effects exists over time and which predictors affected outcomes. The results of unconditional growth model showed that foreign language competence, cultural competence, and personal development showed statistically significant differences in their initial status prior to departure to participate in an overseas program as well as their growth rate. The results of conditional growth model showed that parents' level of education and overseas experiences before college affected the initial status of foreign language competence, and gender and overseas experience before college affected those of cultural competence as well as personal development. In case of growth rate, overseas experience before college and destination country/region affected foreign language competence, and interactions between Korean participating students and local students affected cultural competence. For personal development, only overseas experiences before college affected its growth rate. Lastly, relevant discussion and implications were provided.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of job experience while attending college on the turnover risk in the first job following graduation. Data was obtained from the 2015 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS). Subjects included college graduates under 30 years of age, who graduated from high school and entered college in the same year. The results of this study are as follows: First, students who had job experience while attending school were relatively low in economic characteristics, but showed active employment preparation behavior. Second, there was a significant difference in the characteristics of entry into the labor market according to whether they had job experience while attending school. It was found that the securing their first job of graduates with job experience was shorter, and the period of tenure was longer, but their wage was smaller than non-experienced graduates. Third, the Cox regression analysis confirmed what factors affected their employment period, and that job experience, experience frequency, and experience period while attending school had a positive effect on lowering turnover risk. Therefore, this study found that job experience during schooling years makes the employment period of the job longer after graduation, which is consistent with those who had previous job experience. However, the greater amount of job experience during the period of study positively affects job retention.

  • This article studies the types of financing and the liquidity of small and medium size firms in their early-stage. The sample firms distinguish themselves from the established firms in the second year after foundation in that they rely heavily on external equity financing. However, they use the internal financing the most in the fourth year and do not show distinguishing feature any more. In the mean while, they do not show any serious liquidity problem either in the second year or in the fourth year. The empirical results imply that early-stage lasts rather short after the foundation for successful Korean firms, and that a distinguishing feature of early-stage firm can be found only in financing, not in liquidity. They also allow us to assert that Government-lead financial aid programs should be limited to two- or three-year-old firms and focused on helping their financing investments rather than easing their liquidity problem.

  • The use of ANN is appropriate to computerize the information and knowledge used in the preliminary design stage where it lacks of formality of representation of designers' experience and intuition. Considering that there exists very little design information in preliminary design stage to start with, the ANN model for this stage must be designed to have input much less than output. However, this situation usually causes various problems such as in teaming time, convergence and reliability of solutions. To address this problem, this paper proposes multi-level neural networks lot progressive structural design considering that all the design information can not be obtained at a time but we growing gradually. The use of multi-level networks developed in this paper has been proved its validity by applying it to the preliminary design of cable-stayed bridges.

  • Compared to men, women experience difficulties in fund-raising, which can be a fundamental impediment to the success of women entrepreneurs. In this study, we examine whether is a difference between genders in the initial funding performance of start-up companies and confirm whether there are differences in organizational factors and entrepreneur factors that affect the initial funding performance. Data were collected through a survey of technology-based start-up companies located in the metropolitan area, and 287 companies were used for hypothesis analysis. The results reveal that there was a significant difference between genders in the investment attraction performance of early-stage entrepreneurs. In addition, as a result of the split-group regression analysis, it was found that in the case of men, firm age, early firm size, starting capital, engineering major had a significant effect on men. However, in the case of the women's group, it was confirmed that all the variables related to the organizational factors and entrepreneur factors were not significant. This study indirectly suggests that prejudices such as gender role stereotypes actually affect economic activities related to investment attraction activities.
