Material Topology Optimization Design of Structures using SIMP Approach Part II : Initial Design Domain with Topology of Partial Solids (SIMP를 이용한 구조물의 재료 위상 최적설계 Part II : 부분적인 솔리드 위상을 가지는 초기 설계영역)

  • Discrete topology optimization processes of structures start from an initial design domain which is described by the topology of constant material densities. During optimization procedures, the structural topology changes in order to satisfy optimization problems in the fixed design domain, and finally, the optimization produces material density distributions with optimal topology. An introduction of initial holes in a design domain presented by Eschenauer et at. has been utilized in order to improve the optimization convergence of boundary-based shape optimization methods by generating finite changes of design variables. This means that an optimal topology depends on an initial topology with respect to topology optimization problems. In this study, it is investigated that various optimal topologies can be yielded under constraints of usable material, when partial solid phases are deposited in an initial design domain and thus initial topology is finitely changed. As a numerical application, structural topology optimization of a simple MBB-Beam is carried out, applying partial circular solid phases with varying sizes to an initial design domain.

  • To design a high resolution three-mirror telescope for visible spectral region, initial design technique based on the generation of flat field anastigmatic solutions limited by mechanical structure was proposed. An initial design of the three-mirror telescope that features relatively high focal ratio(F/14.5), large aperture diameter(600 mm), and squared field of view(0.27$^{\circ}$$\times$1.3$^{\circ}$) was done using an initial design program. Code V was used to optimized the initially designed optical system. As a result, MTF value of the telescope was about 0.5 at Nyquist frequency in each field except for the edge of the CCD.

저진동 차체 초기설계 및 해석기술 동향

  • 이제까지 저진동 차체 설계에 관한 해석 및 설계기술에 대한 동향을 간략히 살펴보았다. 앞에서도 밝혔듯이 최근들어 차동차의 차체를 최적화 설계기법을 이용 하여 수많은 경우의 수에 대한 설계개선을 시도하는 것이 현실적으로 가능해졌다. 이와같은 최적화기법을 사용하여 설계과정이 전산화된다면 시험을 통해서만 가능하던 일련의 설계과정을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 해결함으로써 설계에 소요되는 시간 을 파격적으로 단축시키고 아울러 더 좋은 설계를 만들어 낼 기회를 그만큼 더 증대 시킬 것이다. 요즈음 선진국의 자동차업계에서는 초기 차체 설계과정의 속도가 더 빨라지고 설계에 소요되는 시간은 줄어드는 경향이 있다. 그러나 자동차 설계가 점점 더 복잡하여져서 엔지니어가 설계를 최적화하기 위헤서는 어떤 단계가 필요한지를 알기가 점점 더 어려워지고 있다. 이제는 설계를 평가하는데 걸리는 시간보다는 설계 과정을 통제 및 관리하여 그 설계를 어떻게 잘 개선할 수 있는가 하는 것이 엔지니어 의 능력을 평가하는 데 더 중요한 기준이 될 것이다. 여기에서는 언급되지 않았지만 최근 들어와서 플라스틱, 알루미늄, 복합재 등 여러가지의 신소재들을 차체의 재료 로 사용하기 위한 연구가 활발히 검토되고 있거나 이미 실용화 단계에 와 있는 것도 있다. 이러한 신소재를 사용하여 저진동 차체를 설계하기 위해서는 새로운 제작 및 가공기술의 개발이 선행되어야 함은 물론이고 앞에서 서술한 해석 및 설계기술이 뒷받침 되어야 한다는 것은 두 말할 나위가 없겠다.

  • 전 세계적으로 에너지원 확보에 많은 관심을 가지고 있다. 육상유전에서 석유가 고갈되고 있는 시점에서 해양유전개발이 활발하게 이루어지고 있고 해양구조물 발주도 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 해양구조물은 아주 다양한 장비 물품과 복잡한 기하학적 구조를 가지고 있어 설계, 생산, 설치 운용에 어려움을 겪고 있고 기본설계, 장비 등과 같은 핵심기술은 외국에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 상황을 극복하기 위해서는 해양플랜트 산업분야의 설계 및 생산기술력이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해양구조물의 설계와 생산 작업에 중요한 인자로 적용되는 초기생산 단가산정 알고리즘을 이용한 Tool을 제시하고자 한다. 초기원가산정 알고리즘을 개발함으로써 생산 공정의 난이도를 미리 예측하여 준비 및 대비 할 수 있도록 하여 생산 공정의 발전을 이끌 수 있고 초기 설계 단계에서 사전 평가에 중요한 지표로 활용하며 설계 작업에 가이드라인을 제시하여 좀 더 경제적이고 효과적인 설계를 가능하게 해줄 것이다.

  • The use of ANN is appropriate to computerize the information and knowledge used in the preliminary design stage where it lacks of formality of representation of designers' experience and intuition. Considering that there exists very little design information in preliminary design stage to start with, the ANN model for this stage must be designed to have input much less than output. However, this situation usually causes various problems such as in teaming time, convergence and reliability of solutions. To address this problem, this paper proposes multi-level neural networks lot progressive structural design considering that all the design information can not be obtained at a time but we growing gradually. The use of multi-level networks developed in this paper has been proved its validity by applying it to the preliminary design of cable-stayed bridges.

  • Designers need a lot of information to determine the principal dimensions in the initial stage of boat design, and most of the information they need can be obtained by investigating and analyzing similar existing boat data. In addition, the principal dimensions that are determined have an impact throughout the design process (basic/detailed design), which in turn leads directly to the stability and performance of the boat. Therefore, in this study, the initial design system for the boat (design support platform) was developed using a correlation analysis with existing data for more than 700 boats. It was confirmed that the designer could conveniently and reasonably derive and determine the principal dimensions for a boat in the initial design stage, for the 50ft-class of small and high-speed boats.

  • The system-based approach is needed to select an optimal mix of weapon systems and ship platform among a variety of design alternatives with the uncertainties of the initial required operational capability. In the early-phase design, which included a feasibility study and concept design, it is possible to cause problems when a review of the operational concept, database development, and systematic design are not done, thereby producing uncertain and unstable requirements. To select the best solution without trial-and-error, the U.S. navy has applied the set-based method for the early-phase design of a new ship-to-shore connector. The ship synthesis model plays an important role in applying the set-based method, but only a few countries possess this model and have prohibited this model from being transferred to other countries. This paper suggests a set-based method using a genetic algorithm and decision-making theory through benchmarking existing ship data. The algorithm was verified using the DDG-51 class ship synthesis model to optimize the weapon system design, which has been released for research purposes.

  • This paper presents the optimum initial design containing the first and third order properties of the four-group video camera zoom system using lens modules, and its real lens design. The optimum initial design with focal length range of 6.1693 to 58.4065 mm is derived by assigning appropriate first order quantities and third order aberrations to each module along with the specific constraints required for optimization. By scaling the focal length of each lens group, an initial real lens selected for each group has been designed to match its focal length into that of the each lens module, and then combined to establish an actual zoom system by adjusting the air space between the groups at all zoom positions. The combination of the separately designed groups results in a system which satisfies the first order properties of the zoom system consisting of original lens modules. As a result, by residual aberration correction, we could obtain a zoom system useful in video zoom camera employing the rear focus method.

Optimization of Cable Stayed Bridges Considering Initial Cable Tension and Tower Coordinates (사장교의 초기인장력과 주탑좌표를 고려한 최적설계)

  • It is not a simple task to optimize a cable stayed bridge, because it involves, in addition to the section properties, number and arrangement of cables, initial tension forces of cables, and type and height of the tower as design variables. This study deals with an optimization problem of cable stayed bridges considering initial cable forces, section properties of the girder and the tower, and coordinates of the tower. In order to avoid difficulties in dealing with numerous variables which interact mutually, separate design spaces are adopted for initial cable forces, section properties, and coordinates, respectively. Strain energy stored in the structure is used as the object function in the design of the initial cable forces, while weight of the structure is used in the design of section and coordinates. Upper and lower limits of the initial forces, allowable stresses including the effect of buckling, and lower limit of the sectional area are considered as constraints. The proposed method is applied to a fan type bridge and a harp type bridge. It is believed through comparison of the results to the previous results in the literature that the proposed method renders rational design values. It is also shown that the coordinate optimization, which is usually deleted in the optimization process, results in additional saving of materials.

  • 레저보트의 경우 초기 설계단계에서 소비자의 요구사항과 그에 기반 한 외형 디자인이 매우 중요한 설계 요소 중 하나이다. 운용컨셉 정의, 스타일링 등 초기설계 결과는 구조 및 외형에 이르는 선체, 의장설계 뿐만 아니라 향후 제조, 판매에 이르기까지 개발과정 전반에 걸쳐 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 해외의 경우 이러한 점을 고려한 3차원 모델 기반 통합설계 시스템에 대한 기술개발이 활발하게 이뤄지고 있으며, 더 나아가서 통합설계 데이터를 생산에 활용하는 단계에 이르고 있다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 형상모델을 중심으로 레저보트 기본설계 프로세스를 통합하기 위한 연구를 수행하였으며, 50피트 급 크루즈보트 설계 사례연구를 통해 그 효용성을 보였다.
