A Study on Transmit Performance of Repeaters in 1x EV-DO Networks (1x EV-DO 서비스망에서 이동통신 중계기의 전송 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The mobile service was focused on voice and low rate data service. But recently high data rate service is getting more important, so mobile service operators are providing 1x EV-DO services for high data rate service. Many mobile repeaters were deployed for service coverage, but most of them were deployed when voice and low rate data service were main service. It is necessary to test whether these repeaters are suitable for 1x EV-DO networks for high rate data services. In field test, 1x EV-DO data rates were measured through various repeaters. Some repeaters showed data rates degradation compared with 1x EV-DO AN. The specifications of the repeaters were analyzed. And under the various radio environments such as fading and RSSI, data rates through repeater were tested. These test results will be useful for operation guide of repeaters in high data rate service networks.

  • As the environment of the info-telecommunications policy is rapidly changing, the issue of promoting the informatization is emerging as a primary one of a government. In this sense, it is getting more recognized that, the informatization strategies centering on network-building should be interconnected with the issues of promoting the applications. Since the strategies to promote the informatization would necessarily result in the development, supply, and usage of the applications, needed are the consideration of policy directions to develop, supply, and use the applications effectively and of desirable policy means to carry them out. This study analyses the policies, which were related the issue of promoting the national informatization. And, this study also proposes the useful policy directions for an effective establishment of the applications in order to promote the national informatization.

  • SK Telecom은 2000년 10월 세계 최초로 기존 IS-95A/B망에서 지원하였던 속도인 14.4Kbps나 56Kbps 보다 훨씬 빠른 최고 144Kbps로 무선인터넷이 가능한 CDMA2000 IX를 상용화 하였다. 또한, 2002년 1월에는 CDMA2000 IX보다 15배 이상 빠른 최대 2.4Mbps가 가능한 동기식 3세대 망인 CDMA2000 IxEV-DO를 세계 최초로 상용화 하였다. 이러한 초고속 무선 인터넷 서비스를 위해서 패킷 데이터 처리에 필수적인 PDSN(Packet Data Serving Node), HA(Home Agent), AAA(Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) 등의 노드들로 구성된 Packet Core Network(이하 PCN)이 도입되었으며, 이에 대한 운용 및 관리 방안이 중요한 issue로 등장하였다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 음성 서비스 관리를 위한 망관리 시스템(Network Management System)과는 다른 개념으로 관리되어야 할 패킷 서비스를 위한 NMS 구축 방안을 제시하고, 필수적인 관리 정보 및 서비스 관리를 위한 방향을 제시한다.

A Study on the Educational Applications of IPTV (IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)의 교육적 활용 방안 연구)

  • With the advent of convergence environment of broadcasting and communication, IPTV has been widely used. It provides services such as information, movie contents and broadcasting with TV through super-highway information networks. The purpose of this study is to suggest its educational applications to overcome the limits existing in the education. For this goal, we sought its concept and characteristic and drew educational implications by analyzing its contents. We also suggested what-if scenarios for its educational applications, considered its possibilities in educational applications and suggested the kinds of teaching-learning utilizing it and its educational applications for the various subjects. Finally, we examined problems which were considered before its applications in the education with the classification of legal, technical and educational problems.

  • Optical module plays an important role in the construction of high speed communication network. Laser diode is a component of optical module, and its characteristics are dependent of temperature, so many researches are reported. In this paper, we proposed the electrical equivalent circuit of PBH-LD based on the rate equations. And, the two leakage paths exit outside the active region. One path is converted pn-diode and the other path is converted two transistors using npn-Tr and pnp-Tr. In order to reduce the leakage currents, we observed the dependence of carrier concentrations of current blocking layers using PSPICE simulator.

  • The necessity of the home network have been enlarged gradually according to the distribution of ultra-high speed internet, the expansion of a digital information equipment and the change of a life pattern. In this paper, we proposed the embedded ethernet module that could be operate on eight bit system, but it could control home appliance with full ethernet speed. The embedded ethernet module consists of 8051 MCU and Hardware TCP/IP. In this module, we construct simple web server and port remote control program for I/O device control. We verified through internet that the developed embedded ethernet module could control and check home appliances anywhere and anytime. We expect the developed ethernet module can build up niche market at home network. And it will be helpful to activate home network market.

  • Rayleigh fading due to multi-path degrades the mobile service quality, especially high data rate mobile services such as 1xEVDO and W-CDMA. The field test showed that down load date rate of 1xEVDO is seriously affected by Rayleigh fading. To reduce the effect of Rayleigh fading, transmit diversity was implemented in RF repeater. In field test, transmit diversity function increased the data rate about twice comparing with no transmit diversity repeater. Recently high data rate service is getting more important, so transmit diverstiy function will be an important function in repeater.

  • Internet traffic is getting tremendously heavier due to the exponential growth of the Internet users, the spread of the E-commerce and the network games. High-speed routers for fast packet forwarding are commercially available to satisfy the growing bandwidth. A high-speed router, which has the decentralized multiprocessing architecture for IP and routing functions, consists of host processors, line interfaces and switch fabrics. In this paper, we propose a software architecture tuned for high-speed non-forwarding packet manipulation. IPCMP (Inter-Processor Communication Message Protocol), which is a mechanism for IPC (Inter-Processor Communication), is also proposed and implemented as well. Proposed IPC mechanism results in faster packet-processing rate by 10% as compared to the conventional IPC mechanism using UDP/IP.

  • By the development of the information superhighway, the current data communication system can be exchanged data quickly and precisely between subscribers. In this paper, LVTTL(Low Voltage Transistor Transistor Logic), Using the fundamental one logic at several kinds of used in communication systems, the LVTTL transmission characteristics were measured by according to the change data transfer rate and the transmission line length. Because the transmission line length required on the current system is 30cm, We analysed LVTTL data transfer characteristics according to the transmission line length required on the current system. The amplitude level of LVTTL at 10Mbps is 3V and 50Mbps is 2.2V and 100Mbps is 2V and 125Mbps is 1.5V and 150Mbps is 1.4V. The length of transmission line 30cm was stable state up to 100Mbps data transfer rate.
