An Optimization Model for Assignment of Freight Trains to Transshipment Tracks and Allocation of Containers to Freight Trains (화물열차 작업선배정 및 열차조성을 위한 수리모형 및 해법)

  • We present an optimization model for how to assign the freight trains to transshipment tracks and allocate the containers to the freight trains in a rail container terminal. We formulate this problem as a multi-criteria integer programming to minimize the makespan of job schedule and simultaneously to maximize the loading throughput, i.e. the number of containers to be disposed per day. We also apply our model to the instance obtained from the real-world data of the Uiwang Inner Container Depot. From the experiments, we can see an improvement of approximately 6% in makespan, which means that our model can contribute to the improvement of the disposal capacity of containers without additional expansion of facilities.

  • Rail-road intermodal freight transport is a transoortation system that rail and road transport are utilized between origins and destinations. The roles of road(truck) in rail-road intermodal freight transport are pick-up and delivery that are keys parts of total transportation process. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate the pick-up and delivery strategies for container trucks in order to increase their productivity. Two different strategies are developed : One is aimed for minimizing the total traveling distance of container and the other is to reduce the waiting time at client site. The comparative studies are performed on the actual network of Paris metropolitan. The simulation analysis shows that the proposed strategies are quite efficient in various performance measures.

  • 부산항은 컨테이너터미널 운영사별로 마케팅 전략 수립 및 마케팅 활동이 개별적으로 이루어질 뿐 항만 관련 유관기관(부산시, 부산지방해양수산청, 한국컨테이너부두공단, 부산본부세관)의 조화된 항만 마케팅 전략 및 역할이 수립되지 않은 상태이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 부산항 활성화를 위한 각 주체별 활동 현황을 조사하고, 항만 이용자인 선사 및 포워더를 대상으로 마케팅 믹스(Mix, 4P: Product, Place, Price, Promotion)에 대한 설문조사를 토대로 부산항 마케팅 분석을 실시한다 이를 바탕으로 부산항이 동북아 중심항만으로 성장하는데 필요로 하는 부산항 관련 각 주체별 마케팅 관계 그리고 역할을 제시한다. IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis) 분석 결과를 살펴보면 전체 고객을 대상으로 평가했을 때 가격 믹스와 촉진믹스는 가장 중요도가 높은 것으로 분석되었으며 특히, 촉진믹스는 중요도는 매우 높으나 만족도가 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 그러므로 마케팅 전략 수립 시 촉진 부문에도 높은 비중을 두어 선사들에게 공격적인 마케팅 활동이 요구된다고 할 수 있다. 부산항 관련 각 주체별 마케팅 역할에서 부산광역시는 부산지방해양수산청과 함께 촉진믹스에 중점을 두어야하고, 부산지방해양수산청은 촉진믹스 외에 가격믹스에서 항만 요율의 적절성과 경로믹스인 철도 수송 망의 확보가 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 한국컨테이너부두공단은 촉진믹스 외에 가격믹스에서 항만시설 사용료의 체계적인 개편이 요구되고, 터미널 운영사는 제품믹스 서비스인 공컨테이너의 효율적인 재고관리 업무서비스와 가격믹스에서 하역요율의 탄력적인 제공이 필요하다.

A Study on the Revitalization of Railway freight transportation Through forecasting of container volumes on Busan New & North port (신항과 북항의 철도물동량 예측에 따른 철도운송 활성화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to predict the railway cargo volume on Busan new-port and north-port, in order to revitalize railway transport. This paper is organized as follows. Section 1 presents the description of the objective and methods on this study. Section 2 presents the status of Railway Cargo volumes and Construction plan of railway facilities in Busan New port. Section 3 presents the Forecast Railway Cargo volume using a volume ratio, actual volume records and another predicted datas. Section 4 summarizes our conclusions and further research topics. Especially, korea faces enforcement of green Logistics policy. Modal shift to trail freight transportation is one of ways, but there are no more detail plans. so it need that a cooperation system in government department, a indirect subside policy shift to rail freight transportation from trucking for revitalization of Railway Freight transportation.

A Service Network Design Model for Rail Freight Transportation with Hub-and-spoke Strategy (Hub-and-spoke 운송전략을 고려한 철도화물서비스 네트워크디자인모형의 개발)

  • The Hub-and-spoke strategy is widely used in the field of transportation. According to containerization and the development of transshipment technology, it is also introduced into European rail freight transportation. The objective of this article is to develop a service network design model for rail freight transportation based on the Hub-and-spoke strategy and efficient algorithms that can be applied to large-scale network. Although this model is for strategic decision, it includes not only general operational cost but also time-delay cost. The non-linearity of objective function due to time-delay factor is transformed into linearity by establishing train service variables by frequency. To solve large scale problem, this model used a heuristic method based on decomposition and three newly-developed algorithms. The new algorithms were examined with respect to four test problems base on the actual network of European rail freight and discussed the accuracy of solutions and the efficiency of proposed algorithms.

Determining Values of Design Parameters for a Rail Transportation Terminal in a Container Port (컨테이너 항만의 철도 운송 터미널 설계변수 결정)

  • Rail transportation terminals play an important role in inland transportation systems, because the operation productivity in the terminals significantly influences the efficiency of the whole transportation systems. This paper addresses a design method of a real rail terminal that satisfies a pre-specified throughput capacity. In order to construct high performance rail terminal, it is shown how design parameters can be estimated systematically. Examples of the design parameters are the number of transshipment tracks, the number of rail cranes, and the number of internal trucks. These design parameters are estimated by using simple equations and the validity of the values of these parameters are tested by using simulation. Furthermore, some iterative correction procedure, which uses the simulation technique and the equations alternately, are proposed.
