  • Uncertainties in carbonation process of concrete structures are treated by probability-based durability analysis for carbonation using Monte Carlo simulation technique. The results requires the minimum cover thickness of 53mm for 10% of corrosion probability under 4mm/$year^{0.5}$ of carbonation coefficient. The more researches on statistical properties of design variables may give reliable durability analysis/design methods for carbonation of concrete structures.

  • In this research, comparison and analysis were performed to understand how the cover thickness influences the equation for calculating the amount of confining reinforcement for reinforced concrete columns. And, also, an equation for calculating the amount of confining reinforcement was proposed for reasonable seismic design. In addition, appropriateness and safety of the proposed equation were examined based on the various experimental results performed at home and abroad.

  • The Carbonation, one of the main deterioration factors of concrete, reduces capacity of members with providing rebar corrosion environment. Consequently it suggested standards of all countries of world, carbonation depth prediction equation of respective researchers and time to rebar corrosion initiation. As a result of carbonation depth prediction equation calculation, difference of time to rebar corrosion initiation is 149 years and difference of carbonation depth prediction equation is 162 years when water cement ratio is 50%. So a study on rebar corrosion with carbonation depth will need existing reliable data and verifications by experiment.

  • Measurement of the strength of concrete is an important indicator of the safety of the fresh as well as old concrete structures. It is possible to evaluate the strength of the concrete by means of an ultrasonic velocity method which is a kind of non-destructive inspection method for safety diagnostic evaluation of the building structures with aging. Steel embedded in the concrete and age of the concrete may affect ultrasonic pulse velocity. In order to accurately assess the strength of the concrete, it is necessary to understand rebar embedded in the concrete, steel shapes in various forms which effect ultrasonic pulse velocity. In this study, by measuring the velocity of ultrasonic waves generated when the waves pass through the ultrasonic pulse in a direction perpendicular to the reinforcing bars embedded in concrete, the effect of reinforcing bars on ultrasonic velocity accurately was verified and used to estimate the strength of the concrete.

  • This research program is directed at studying the behavior and the strength of reinforced concrete slabs sub¬jected to certain combination of punching shear and in-plane tension. Major variables to be investigated are the shear span to depth ratio of reinforced concrete slabs and the degree of the in-plane tensile force which is act¬ing tangent to the slabs. The experimental results are used for understanding of the degree of tbe interaction between the two loadings, and for developing a new practical design equation.

  • High strength concrete(HSC) is made with Fiber-cocktail to control the spalling of HSC. In this paper, the column is made with PP fiber of $1.5kg/m^3$ and steel fiber of 20, 30, $40kg/m^3$, and the test are observed the temperature of reinforced bars and concrete. The results that increasing of temperature is delay as increase of steel fiber's volume.

  • This study investigated the influence of concrete compressive strength for the lateral confinement of high-strength spiral reinforcement. The main test parameters were the compressive strength of concrete, the yield strength of spiral reinforcement, and cross sectional shape. A total of 48 cylindrical test specimens with circularand rectangular sections were cast and tested under monotonic concentric compression.

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the behavior of high strength concrete columns confined by rectangular ties under combined axial load lateral load. This test was carried on the twelve reinforced concrete columns with $200\times200\times200$mm size subjected to combined axial load and lateral load. Effects of key variables such as the axial load level, the tie yield strength, the longitudinal reinforcement ratio are studied in this research program. The results of this study show that the efficiency of high strength lateral ties increase under high axial load level over 0.4f(아래첨자) A(아래 첨자). Also we found that well confined concrete column shows second peak monent after spalling of cover concrete under high axial load level.

  • The increase of activated carbon contents in fly ashes accelerate the corrosion of steel embedded in ordinary portland cement(OPC) mortar. Cement losses its identity of colour when the % of carbon is increased. More than 60[%] area was rusted when carbon content is increased beyond 8[%] for the exposure period of one year. Comparable corrosion rate with OPC was obtained up to 6[%] carbon level only. The tolerable limit of replacement for various admixed carbon system under aggressive alternate wetting and drying condition with 3[%] NaCl was found to be 6 to 8[%].
