  • A basic multichannel analyser (MCA) system have been designed and constructed with the successive approximation type ADC (Analog to Digital Converter). Linear Gate, window, and palse stretcher consist of mainly linear and logic IC's, and are properly combined together to achieve short dead time and good linearity of the system. ADC 1211 (analysing time: $120{\mu}sec$) and S-RAM (static random acess memory) 6264 are used in ADC module. Two 6264 memories are connected in parallel in order to-provide enough counting capacity ($2^{16}-1$). Interfaced microcomputer Apple II controls this system and analizes the counted data. The system is tested by input pulses between 0V to 10V from oscillator.

  • Various bupivacaine-loaded microspheres were prepared using poly(d,1-lactide) (PLA) and poly(d,1-lactic-co-glycolide) (PLGA) by a solvent evaporation method for the sustained release of drug. The effects of process conditions such as drug loading, polymer type and solvent type on the characteristics of microspheres were investigated. The prepared microspheres were characterized for their drug loading, size distribution, surface morphology and release kinetics. Drug loading efficiency and yield of PLGA micro- spheres were higher than those of PLA microspheres. The prepared microspheres had an average particle size below 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The particle size range of microspheres was 1.65~2.24${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of SEM, the particle size of PLA microspheres was smaller than that of PLGA microspheres. In morphology studies, microspheres showed a spherical shape and smooth surface in all process conditions. In thermal analysis, bupivacaine-loaded microspheres showed no peaks originating from bupivacaine. This suggested that bupivacaine base was molecular-dispersed in the polymer matrix of microspheres. The release pattern of the drug from microspheres was evaluated for 96 hours. The initial burst release of bupivacaine base decreased with increasing the molecular weight of PLGA, and the drug from microspheres released slowly. In conclusion, bupivacaine-loaded microspheres were successfully prepared from poly(d,1-lactide) and poly (d,1- lactic-co-glycolide) polymers with different molecular weights allowing control of the release rate.

  • Serial ultrasonographic examinations were daily performed on 8 bitches (5 Maltese and 3 Yorkshire terrier) from day 15 until parturition to determine the size of gestational structures. Gestational age was timed from the day of ovulation (day 0), which was estimated to occur when plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0 ng/ml. When the size of fetal and extra-fetal structures according to gestational age was measured, there was a difference between Maltese and Yorkshire terrier in extra-fetal structures (P<0.001), and no difference in fetal structrures (P<0.001). The correlations between the gestational age and the growth in fetal and extra-fetal structures were examined by regression analysis. The extra-fetal structure which showed high correlation from day 20 to 35 was inner chorionic cavity diameter in two breeds. The fetal structures which showed high correlation from day 36 until parturition was fetal head diameter in two breeds. In conclusions inner chorionic cavity diameter was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age and prediction of whelping day from day 20 to 35, and fetal head diameter from day 36 to parturitions respectively. Ultrasonography is very useful tool to evaluate the gestational age and to predict the whelping day in pet dogs.

  • We investigated visible light radiated from Plasma Focus device by time-integrated analyzed method. Plasma focus is a device that translated from electric energy into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(focal length = 0.5 m). Time-integrated spectrum is analyzed with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. The condition of visible emission was that the discharging voltage was 13 kV and the working gas were Argon and Helium.

A clinico-statistical study of soft tissue changes of upper lip & nose following Le Fort I maxillary movement (Le Fort I 상악골이동술 후 상순과 비부의 연조직 변화에 대한 임상통계학적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the soft tissue changes of upper lip & nose using 38 patients who treated with Le Fort I osteotomy for the correction of dentofacial deformities. Patients were devided into three groups. One was advancement group of maxilla(Group I, N=14), another was impaction group of maxilla(Group II, N=12) and the other was combination group(advancement & impaction)(Group III, N=12). Preop. and 1 month postop. (T1), preop. and 6 months postop.(T2) were analyzed and compared. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The upper lip thickness(UL-VP) moved anteriorly approximately 62% of the horizontal maxillary change and this was significant in the advancement group(Group I) 2. The upper lip length(Stm-Sn) and the lower border of upper lip(Stm) moved superiorly 25%, 40% of the maxillary impaction group(Group II) (P<0.05) 3. There was significancy in the upper lip thicness(UL-VP) approximately 56% of the combination group(Group III) (P<0.05) 4. The nasolabial angle decreased in all groups, but there were no significancy.

  • In the southern limb of the Hambaek geosyncline belt, large-scaled skarn deposits are developed in the Cambro-Ordovician sedimentary rocks of the Chosun Supergroup. They are the Sangdong tungsten deposit, Geodo iron-copper deposit, Yeonhwa I and II lead-zinc deposits, and Ulchin zinc-lead deposit, all of which are associated with various skarn minerals. Though different occurrences and paragenesis are found in different deposits, most skarn deposits always have skarns of garnet (andradite-grossular series) and clinopyroxene(heden-bergite-diopside series). Andradite and hedenbergite are Fe-dominant members, but show different oxidation states, that is, Fe3+ for andradite and Fe2+ for hedenbergite. According to iron chemistry and log([Fe/Al]gd/[Fe/Mg]cpx) derived from equilibrium reactions, the diopside-andradite and hedenbergite-grossular pairs suggest the oxidized state (dian type) and reduced state (hegro type), respectively. Among skarn deposits developed in the Hambaek geosynline, it can be classified that the Geodo and Yeonhwa I skarns are of dian type, while the Sangdong, Yeonhwa II, and Ulchin deposits are of hegro type. This classification is not applicable to all kinds of skarn deposits, but may be applicable to such deposits as are more controlled by oxygen fugacity than composition of skarn fluid.

Variation in Vegetation Area caused by Topographical Change at Jinudo in the Nakdong Estuary (낙동강 하구역 진우도내 지형변동에 따른 식생면적의 변화)

  • In order to analysis the variation in vegetation area caused by topographical change at Jinudo in the Nakdong estuary, we used aerial photographs of Jinudo from 1998 to 2006. To extract an accuracy shoreline from these aerial photographs, a tide calibration was performed. We also estimated the annual variation in topographic area and vegetation area, and then analyzed the relationship between them by a correlation analysis. The following results were obtained: 1) The calibrated shoreline distance of Jinudo from 1998 to 2006 was estimated to have a range of (-)1,927 cm to (+)4,671 cm. 2) Annual changes in the topographic area and vegetation area in Jinudo have been increasing gradually from 1998, and the correlation coefficient between topographic area and vegetation area is 0.97. 3) The estimated topographic areas were with following order: southern (III), eastern (IV), northern (II) and western (I), while for the vegetation area, the order was southern (III), northern (II), eastern (IV) and western (I). 4) The vegetation area of the southern region (III) of Jinudo had the largest size among the regions, and was calculated to be $4.3{\sim}5.4$ times larger than the eastern region (IV).

  • Ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic drug, has several limitations in clinical application because of low solubility in water and gastrointestinal irritation. Effect of ibuprofen/$2-Hydroxypropyl-{\beta}-cyclodextrin\;(HP{\beta}CD)$ inclusion compound on release of suppository was investigated. Complex formation was confirmed by $^{1}H-\;and\;^{13}C-NMR$ spectroscopy. The release of ibuprofen from suppository base in vitro was significantly increased by the complexation with $HP{\beta}CD$. The release of ibuprofen from hydrophilic base was faster than that from hydrophobic base. In vivo studies, the release rate of ibuprofen from suppository was accelerated after rectal administration in complex form. This results suggested that ibuprofen/$HP{\beta}CD$ complex can be practically used for suppository to have faster effect of ibuprofen with reduced side effect.

  • To synthesize Fe/Ni nanocatalysts loaded on carbon black, Iron(II) acetylacetonate and nickel (II) acetylacetonate and were reduced to Fe and Ni metallic nanoparticles by a spontaneous reduction reaction. The distribution of the Fe and Ni nanoparticles was observed by transmission electron microscopy, and the loading weight of Fe/Ni nanocatalysts on the carbon black was measured by thermogravimetric analyzer. The elemental ratio of Fe and Ni was estimated by energy dispersive x-ray analyzer. It was found that the loading weight of Fe/Ni nanoparticles was 6.23 wt%, and the elemental ratio of Fe and Ni was 0.53:0.40. Specific surface area was measured by BET analysis instrument and I-V characteristics were estimated.

Multi-objective Optimization Model for C-UAS Sensor Placement in Air Base (공군기지의 C-UAS 센서 배치를 위한 다목적 최적화 모델)

  • Recently, there are an increased the number of reports on the misuse or malicious use of an UAS. Thus, many researchers are studying on defense schemes for UAS by developing or improving C-UAS sensor technology. However, the wrong placement of sensors may lead to a defense failure since the proper placement of sensors is critical for UAS defense. In this study, a multi-object optimization model for C-UAS sensor placement in an air base is proposed. To address the issue, we define two objective functions: the intersection ratio of interested area and the minimum detection range and try to find the optimized placement of sensors that maximizes the two functions. C-UAS placement model is designed using a NSGA-II algorithm, and through experiments and analyses the possibility of its optimization is verified.
