The Influence of Self-discrepancy on One's Contributive Behaviors in Customer-based Online Communities (고객기반 온라인 커뮤니티에서 개인의 자아 차이 (Self-discrepancy)가 기여 행위에 미치는 영향)

  • Organizing and maintaining customer-based online communities are becoming increasingly important in current business environment. Companies can utilize the member generated contents in developing their products and services and they can establish close relationships with their customers. This paper investigates how customer-based online communities increase individual members' contributive behaviors. Drawing on the social psychology literature, this study adopts the concept of self-discrepancy rooted in self-identity and derive an index for self-discrepancy by using the differences between actual and virtual self-identities. Furthermore, this study examines the relationship between the self-discrepancy and the anonymity-related psychological factors (autonomy, recovery, and catharsis), which in turn influence quality and quantity of contribution. Analysis of 114 respondents showed that self-discrepancy between actual and virtual selves has two different sub-dimensions (personal self-discrepancy and social sel f-discrepancy) and each dimension has different effect on the quality and quantity of contribution through the mediation of autonomy and recovery. Notably, catharsis negatively influenced quality of contribution. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed based on the major findings.

  • The case of Dance Chang-jak-san-shil, a dance performance support project linked to digital media, was analyzed from the perspective of liveness. The purpose was to examine the limitations of the liveness and to suggest ways to overcome them. The research case was focused on the factors of the time and space and audience (the sharing of field and acceptance experience) of the creative production room that supports works based on the creativity of dance performances. As a result, active SNS for accessibility of performing arts, expansion of access to art through the use of teaching media of art education through archiving, multi-dimensional access and provision for inducing audience participation and creative appreciation in one-way digital media transmission, provision of copyright protection devices, and audience to enter offline. As a long-term strategy for the future of the performing arts field, I would like to present the need for a change in the communication with the audience and experimental works that combine art and technology.

  • This study aimed to inquire into possibilities of the web-based representation of thematic maps by geo-information mashup in the geoweb platform. In the Web2.0, Google platform leads the geoweb by offering effective mashup functions for geo-information. Geo-information mashup is opening a new horizon of map applications in fusion with a great of data in the Internet. Geo-information mashup by the available data method can be classified as two type; one is linkage of sources of platform itself(satellite images) and external data, the other is linkage of platform itself and user created contents. This study made heatmap, proportional map, and choropleth map based on Google satellite images by the linkage of platform itself and external data. As a result, thematic map of Google mashup expected to give us to a flexibility for difference interpretations of geographical distribution by representing overlap with satellite images.

  • For Bauhaus, the vaious typography experiments developed around the printing workshops, and it was only in the later Weimar Period that L. Moooly-Nagy, who came to be in charge of the rxinting workshops, approached it from the functional way of thinking and demanded print type reforms Using this as the basis, a new form of typograph called "typophoto" was developed by combining images and characters together using photography techniques and Bauhaus Unification Chaacter producyion. Harbert Bayer, striving at molds based on the ideologies of L. Moody-Nagy, prepared the framework for modern informational advertisements by producing a variety of advertisements based on several law of psychology and physiology. Bayer's successor, Joost Schmidt focused on lettering based on functionalism and typographic training and practice, while pioneering in the new area of display design wiwh efficient usage of space for exhibitions a1d dsplays. Thus, despite being carried doWl by the same leader in the sane era, the series of typographic experiments undertaken by the artists Bauhaus present guidelines to the direction modern visual communication must take through creativity and insight into the upcoming future that is not contained within the boundaries of traditions and customs.and customs.

  • With the renewed definition of "office". it's function and role has been reduced. Therefore. home oofices are beginning to draw people's attention. Office within the home is called SOHO (Small Office Home Office). SOHO has become possible with the development of information and telecommunication network technology. Recently. companies are adopting the SOHO system along with the trends of business restructuring. The SOHO offers workers to enjoy more flexible work time and enhance concentration thus improving jop efficiency. Companies will be able to cut down on fixed expenses and increase productivity. In addition. such working conditions will contribute to relieve traffic and environmental problems and furthermore it will make it possible to take advantage of potential workforce of women. the elderly and the handicapped. "Home Office" is expected to be one of the prevailing work system in the near future. Therefore. it is all the more important to study design problems including space design and furniture arrangement in order to improve work efficiency and provide a creative working environment.   • Modern society is heading towards a knowledge & information based society where knowledge and information is valued, or a knowledge creation society where information is analyzed and processed to be used as knowledge. This means that not only individuals but also every organization is always surrounded by information and that we are witnessing a transition into a society where the value of knowledge and information is increasingly higher so sometimes we must actively explore and use the information across the whole social structure involved with politics, economy and culture. Recently, while the amount of information at public libraries at home and abroad has greatly increased in volume and the kinds have become diverse, efforts for digitalizing and integrating knowledge & information resources are being pursued aggressively. A new paradigm of facilities and space configuration for public libraries is required so that along with traditional library service there will exist integrated links and exchange of digital information resources and all users will be able to equally access that information. Therefore, assuming that human, information and space are important design factors as to space planning for public libraries, this study compared characteristics of the space structure and the form of exchange of knowledge & information through examples involved with public libraries having opened in the past three to four years from perspectives of space sociology and communication. This is a basic study to provide organized design guidelines about the form of exchange of creative knowledge & information from various perspectives in the knowledge & information age. Also this study is considered to have a significance in activating communication with users through exchange, creation and experience of knowledge & information, which is a social role that modern public libraries support.

Applicability Test of a Wetting and Drying Scheme for KU-RLMS Model (KU-RLMS 모형의 잠김-드러남 기법 적용성 평가)

  • A wetting and drying(WAD) scheme was introduced in KU-RLMS which is a two-dimensional depth-averaged unsteady model, and applicability tests for wetting and drying were performed in this study. WAD scheme in the model uses a mathematically less elegant but numerically easier method to test for dry or wet cells at each time step, then to apply blocking conditions for fluxes at cells' interfaces. WAD scheme introduced in the model was verified against an analytical solution in a frictionless parabolic basin. It was found that there occurs a little phase difference between analytical and numerical solution and little decrease of amplitude of numerical result. I used three test channels having a linear sloping bottom topography, a stepwise bottom topography, and a stepwise, a bumpy and bowl-shaped bottom topography. It could be found that numerical simulation results in test channels have similar shapes of Balzano[4] and Oey[15].

  • In performance art, actors on the stage play an important role. The purpose of performance art is not in producing expression of superficial or trite pleasure, but in presenting a source of philosophical catharsis regarding essence of a human life. It is actors' responsibility to bring such expression onto the stage. Performance art not only involves technical skills but should be a cultural expression to represent tradition, spirituality and identity of a nation. In Korea, performance art tends to follow Western methods of expression. It is desirable to set a future direction to further develop methodology of expression in performance art. As part of such effort, the research examines how the rhythm of traditional Korean dance and dimension of time and space in performance art are effectively visualized in their relation to "stage direction." The research illustrates characteristics and concepts of Korean dances in terms of inhalation in deliberate hypogastric breathing ("danjeon') and rhythms of exhalation (gutgeori, jajinmori, huimori). Also, the research aims to enhance dramatic effect on the stage, which is distinguished from presentation of ordinary actions, by emphasizing dimension of time and space in visualizing expression.

  • The marriage between music and film, both temporal art forms, demands that the inherent aspects of note in each medium are brought into correspondence within a dramatic context. In film-making, the most crucial and difficult problem a film composer faces is finding the music that seems absolutely right for the film and its characters, sequences and dramatic lines. When writing a film score, composers become musical dramatists; some have a special instinct that enables them to find the right kind of melodic line, orchestral texture, rhythmic device and musical style to bring out what they intuitively recognize as the essential aspect of the drama. In this study, several examples are cited - Alex North, Hugo Friedhofer, Bernard Herrmann and David Raksin - that underline this kinetic function of music in film. Effort is made to uncover as many possibilities as possible, so as to arrive at a better understanding of how the two media interrelate for the purpose of emphasizing the dramatic lines.

  • The common lives of the korean people reflect the feeling and emotion of their own world irrespective of rank and class. The folk picture which has the humor, feeling of the korean people, has been with the whole nation throughout times. Therefore it reveals the imaged tradition, recordable character and the truth. It is the folk picture that is the first stream of the game graphic. Because it has its own world built by timeless culture, philosophy, religion, art, and so on. When the game is understood as the reappearance of virtual truth, and the whole new world of the game players, it is really necessary to develop the game graphic with creative plans and artistic value. It is the time to focus on the korean folk picture as a new sources of the contents. Then it is obvious to solidfy the groundwork of the game industry if people at all ages play games as a result of reinterpreting and developing technical tools for the korean folk picture for the present age.
