Development of Introductory Engineering Design Course to Improve Creative Thinking Ability (창의적 사고능력 증진을 위한 공학설계입문 교과목 및 사례 개발)

  • Currently social and economical situations of the world including Korea are tremendously changing because of developments of various technologies including information technology. It is well known that the current world is society of globalization, knowledge and information. In order to accomodate the engineering education of Korea to the world standards, many researches about engineering education should be studied. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develope the course of 'Introduction to Engineering Design' for undergraduate students in engineering schools. The graduates from the engineering schools should have various communication skills such as presentation, report preparation, language skills, etc. Also the graduates have to change their mind from passivity to creativity for their works. The other important things for graduates are improvement of the teamwork skills in the team and improvement of project management skills. Therefore, this paper will present the processes of the course development and the contents of the course concerning teamwork, inventive thinking, project management, and presentation skills.

The Effects of Collective Leadership on Creative Behavior: Mediating Effect of Organizational-Based Self-Esteem Moderated by Psychological Safety (집합적 리더십이 창의적 행동에 미치는 영향: 심리적 안전감에 의해 조절된 조직기반 자긍심의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The goal of this study is to verify the effectiveness of collective leadership. Specifically, we examine the direct effect of collective leadership on creative behavior and how this relationship is affected indirectly by organization-based self-esteem. Further, we identify the conditional indirect effect psychological safety has in moderating this mechanism. To minimize the common method bias, job rank and the affectivity in work situations were set as control variables. After excluding ten univariate outliers from 319 responses that were collected, a total of 309 samples were used for analysis. Our findings showed that collective leadership has a positive effect on the creative behavior of organization members, and that organization-based self-esteem played the role as partial mediator in the relationship between collective leadership and creative behavior. Also, the conditional indirect effect of psychological safety was found to be significant in the 'high' and 'very high' percentile levels, but not in the 'very low,' 'low,' and 'middle' levels. Together, the findings imply that when leaders at organizations promote members' organization-based self-esteem and creative behavior through collective leadership, it can be more effective when members feel high psychological safety in the organization.

The Effect of Team Efficacy on Individual Creativity and Product Development Performance through Communication Competence in Technology Development Projects (기술개발 프로젝트에서 팀효능감이 커뮤니케이션 역량을 통해 개인창의성과 제품개발성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Improving performance needs Creativity and Improving Creativity needs clear communication of work orders in technology development projects. This study empirically analyzed the effects of team efficacy and knowledge sharing on communication competence and the effects of communication competence on individual creativity and product development performance. The purpose of this study is to verify the importance of communication and personal creativity in technology development projects and to suggest ways to improve communication capabilities. A survey was conducted of participants in technology development and the relationship between variables was confirmed by the structural equation model. The results show that team efficacy and knowledge sharing had a positive effect on communication competence, and that the clear delivery and understanding of team orders were the main factors in improving individual creativity. The results of this study will contribute to improving the communication competence of participants who are required for improving individual creativity in technology development projects in which high technology is converged. In the future, we will study the effects of Communication Competence on Organizational Creativity.

The Direction of Science Gifted Education based on Creativity and Character (창의.인성 중심의 과학영재교육을 위한 방향 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the direction of science gifted education based on creativity and character by perception in the gifted education field. Data was collected by in-depth interviews with nine teachers, 10 science gifted students, and their parents, individually or in groups. The results of the study showed that the participants perceived character, creativity, leadership and morality as the important capabilities to have in the future society. Also, they wanted to explore science as much as they wished, form values as a leader, and feel a sense of accomplishment through a collaborative research project. The study suggested that it needed to construct cooperative learning and self-directed scientific investigation for science gifted education based on creativity and character.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and apply that teaching and learning methodology of motion image based on modified ASSURE model to improve creativity the competitive power of an information oriented society. To accomplish the end of this study, the following procedure and methods were performed. After the theoretical consideration about education visual image and creativity, we get to the bottom the connection of them. In the result of that, it designed plans for teaching and learning applied by modified ASSURE model. And it had larger efficiency to apply a creativity develop learning model when it spread out teaching and learning process to produce motion image. The main points of the result and the meaning are as follows. Firstly, in the light of the result of this study, student's creativity were enhanced to a large extent as applying this study. It appeared that the average of performance improved from 30.18 to 37.44. Such difference was t=-14.39 (p<0.05), which is a meaningful difference in terms of statistics. Secondly, it laid the foundations for being cultural prosumer as applying this study. Additionally, it anticipated that all the students join in this study become leader group in the age of digital media.

Mediating Effects of Intrinsic Motivation on The Relationship Between Positive Psychological Capital, Psychological Empowerment and Creativity (긍정심리자본, 심리적 임파워먼트와 창의성의 관계에서 내재적 동기의 매개효과 검증)

  • This study examined the relationship among PsyCap(positive psychological capital), psychological empowerment, personal creativity and verified the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation in this relationship using the SEM(Structural Equation Model). For this study, the data was collected through on/off-line surveys of members and managers from 12 different enterprises. Among the 418 answers from voluntary participating employees, 332 answers were finally used for statistical analysis. The results were as follows. First, PsyCap had a positive influence on the intrinsic motivation and personal creativity. Second, Psychological Empowerment had a positive influence on intrinsic motivation, but psychological empowerment has no influence on creativity. Third, intrinsic motivation had a meaningful influence by partially mediating PsyCap and personal creativity but completely mediated psychological empowerment and personal creativity. This study focused on intrinsic motivation among the internal factors that have influences on showing personal creativity and has importance in the point that it has suggested the statistical significance by analyzing the psychological/emotional mechanism to reinforce this intrinsic motivation in a positive way. Positive analysis on the relationships among these variables suggests a theoretical meaning on providing a future direction for the study and practical meaning on providing ideas to reinforce the employees' personal creativity. 안전현장을 가다 - 글로벌 식품기업 농심의 안전 주춧돌 '농심연수원'

  • 식품기업 농심의 주요 제품들은 수십 년에 걸쳐 소비자들의 변함없는 사랑을 받아 오고 있다. 신라면, 안성탕면, 새우깡 등 대표제품의 경우 우리 국민이라면 그 이름을 모르는 이가 없을 정도다. 이처럼 농심이 '국민 식품기업'의 반열에 올라설 수 있었던 비결은 무엇일까. 바로 '인재'다. 그동안 농심의 임직원들은 창의적인 기술과 독창적인 마케팅으로 장수식품을 육성하고 시장을 선도하는 신제품을 꾸준히 선보여 왔다. 시장의 흐름을 읽을 줄 알고 고객의 마음을 볼 줄 아는 수많은 인재들이 농심에 몸을 담고 있는 것이다. 이런 우수한 인재를 키워낼 수 있었던 배경에는 '농심연수원'이 있다. 충남 아산시 탕정면 농심 아산공장 내에 위치한 농심연수원은 1997년 건물을 신축한 이래 15년여 동안 농심그룹 임직원을 업계의 리더로 키워냈다. 실시되는 교육의 질도 우수하지만 이곳 연수원은 우수한 안전관리체계로 유명하다. 교육생들의 안전한 생활관리에서부터 건물 및 시설물 관리에 이르기까지 빈틈없는 안전관리가 이루어지고 있는 것이다. 때문에 이곳을 거쳐 간 농심 임직원들은 안전과 건강, 생명을 소중히 하는 우리나라의 전통 식문화를 각인하게 된다. 이것이 곧 농심에서 국민의 사랑을 받는 제품이 쏟아져 나오는 이유다. 글로벌 식품기업 농심의 안전 주춧돌 역할을 하고 있는 '농심연수원'을 찾아가봤다.

The Effect of CEO's Entrepreneurship on Intra-organization Innovation through Creative self-efficacy and the Moderating Effect of Organizational Commitment (창의적 효능감을 통해 조직 내 혁신을 유발하는 CEO의 기업가정신과 조직몰입의 조절효과)

  • This study looked in-depth at the importance of cultivating and manifesting entrepreneurship, which is emphasized for companies to gain a competitive advantage and promote innovation in the uncertain environment that organizations face and in the development of technology due to recent industrial advancement, the following innovative performance, and the mechanisms in the performance process. Entrepreneurship is emphasized as a key factor in inducing creative work performance, creation and application of new ideas, and innovative performance at various levels within the organization in various global companies. In particular, this study examined the influence of the CEO's cultivation and expression of entrepreneurship as an organizational leader on the innovative behavior of organizational members, which is a leading factor in the organization's innovative performance, and the role of creative self-efficacy as a mechanism. Through this, the study was to verify the importance of creativity and cultivating a sense of self-efficacy for demonstrating innovative performance within an organization. Additionally, it was to confirm the role of organizational commitment of organizational members as a situational factor. For the empirical analysis, a total of 247 office workers were surveyed, sampled from 10 venture companies engaged in the manufacturing industry in industrial complexes in Daejeon, Korea. As the result of empirical analysis showed, it was confirmed that each sub-factor of the CEO's entrepreneurship had a positive effect on the innovative behavior of organizational members. And in the process, the importance of the creative self-efficacy of members to demonstrate innovative performance was verified by confirming positively significant mediating effect of creative self-efficacy. Furthermore, in the case of organizational commitment, it was found that the innovativeness and proactiveness of the CEO strengthened the positive influence on the creative efficacy of the organization members. Based on the results of empirical analysis, theoretical and practical implications were provided to improve the importance of cultivating and manifesting the CEO's entrepreneurship to demonstrate innovation within the organization.

The Program Evaluation and Analysis of Creative Research Initiatives (창의적연구진흥사업 사업평가 및 분석)

  • The objective of this research is to evaluate the Creative Research Initiative Program (CRI), a national R&D program funded by the Ministry of Science & Technology in Korea. The evaluation of CRI covers the following research questions; 1) Have it set a unique position and characteristic distinguished from other government-funded R&D programs\ulcorner 2) Are the achievements of the program relevant to its goal\ulcorner 3) What is its performances and how much is it achieved its goal\ulcorner The results are the followings; 1) CRI is perceived as a pure basic research, distinguished from other national basic research programs, such as the Coal Oriented Basic Research Program and the SRC and ERC. 2) CRI is a well-adapted R&D program in confront of the environmental changes and R&D needs, as well as follows the planned R&D areas. 3) CRI have performed well in the raising-up world-class research leaders and the nation-wide diffusion of creative R&D culture, while it got few performances in the overcoming the limitation of the existing technologies and the independent development of original key technologies for future industries. However, the duration of the program, 5 year, is too short to expect concrete outcome, such as creating original technologies. Many of the outcomes of CRI gets a lot of attention from top class scientists in the world, it is expected to generate various R&D performances in the future.

Entrepreneurship and Market Leadership in Culture Industry (문화산업에서 기업가정신의 발현과 마켓리더십)

  • The culture industry has been considered very important as firms utilize human creativity as the main source for providing high-value-added services. In this industry, the inspirations and ideas of individual creators have been stressed rather than the roles of entrepreneurs so far. However, in recent years, due to the influence of "Hallyu" or the Korean Wave, entrepreneurial firms have actively participated in producing a variety of products embracing cultural value. In this vein, the entrepreneurship-related elements such as the degree of leaders' innovativeness, risk-taking environment, first mover advantage, employee compensation, and tolerance to failure were selected to investigate their effects on market leadership. As a result, it was observed that risk-taking environment, first mover advantage, employee compensation, and tolerance to failure had a positive effect whereas leaders' innovativeness was not statistically meaningful. These findings show that the creation of an atmosphere where employees' creativity can be fully appreciated is more important than the leader' insight-driven innovativeness. The results of this study indicate that when companies formulate strategies and the government initiate policies in the culture industry, entrepreneurship should be incorporated as a crucial element.
