Forward Vehicle Movement Estimation Algorithm (전방 차량 움직임 추정 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a forward vehicle movement estimation algorithm for the image-based forward collision warning. The road region in the acquired image is designated as a region of interest (ROI) and a distance look up table (LUT) is made in advance. The distance LUT shows horizontal and vertical real distances from a reference pixel as a test vehicle position to any pixel as a position of a vehicle on the ROI. The proposed algorithm detects vehicles in the ROI, assigns labels to them, and saves their distance information using the distance LUT. And then the proposed algorithm estimates the vehicle movements such as approach distance, side-approaching and front-approaching velocities using distance changes between frames. In forward vehicle movement estimation test using road driving videos, the proposed algorithm makes the valid estimation of average 98.7%, 95.9%, 94.3% in the vehicle movements, respectively.

Robust Method of Updating Reference Background Image in Unstable Illumination Condition (불안정한 조명 환경에 강인한 참조 배경 영상의 갱신 기법)

  • It is very difficult that a previous surveillance system and vehicle detection system find objects on a limited and unstable illumination condition. This paper proposes a robust method of adaptively updating a reference background image for solving problems that are generated by the unstable illumination. The first input image is set up as the reference background image, and is divided into three block categories according to an edge component. Then a block state analysis, which uses a rate of change of the brightness, a stability, a color information, and an edge component on each block, is applied to the input image. On the reference background image, neighbourhood blocks having the same state of a updated block are merged as a block. The proposed method can generate a robust reference background image because it distinguishes a moving object area from an unstable illumination. The proposed method very efficiently updates the reference background image from the point of view of the management and the processing time. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed stable manner in situation that an illumination quickly changes.

Alternative Tracing Method for Moving Object Using Reference Template in Real-time Image - Focusing on Parking Management System (참조 템플릿 기반 실시간 이동체 영상을 이용한 대안적 탐지 방안 - 주차관리시스템을 대상으로)

  • As the number of vehicles has been sharply increases, the significance of safety and effective operation issues in the parking lot is being emphasized, which takes a part of the transportation system. Recently, there have been several studies for the parking management by detecting moving object, however, recognizing numbers of fast-moving vehicles simultaneously in the picture is still a challenging problem. The parking lot in public area, or large-sized buildings has clear parking section, whereas the sensor system is configured to monitor a plurality of parking spaces. Therefore, by considering those parking lots, we suggested to develop the real-time parking availability information system by applying the real-time image processing techniques. with the help of template matching. Following the study, we wanted to provide the alternative method for parking management system through the reference template makers by recognizing movements of parked vehicles with the size and shape, regardless of direct detecting of driving movements. In addition, we evaluated the applicability and performances of the information system, presented in this study, and implemented a prototype system to simulate the parking statuses of each floor. In fat, it was possible to manage and analyze statistics about the total number of parking spaces and the number of vehicles parked through real-time video flames. We expected that the result of the study will be advanced, following the user-friendliness and cost reduction in operating parking management system and giving information by efficient analysis of parking situation.

Effect of Internal Circuit Faults of Non-reference Type APS Malfunction on Commercial and Tactical Vehicles (참조센서가 없는 상용/전술차량용 APS내부 회로 불량이 오작동에 미치는 영향)

  • In the condition of electronic controlled acceleration system, APS Sensor is the only and the most important parts to reflect the will of driver. Especially, the non-reference type APS is the critical part of this system. It can't provide the cross-reference values and it will make the vehicle goes into the 'NMC(Non-moveable condition)' or 'Limp-home mode' on the malfunction situation easier. If the situation is happened, it's very dangerous condition for the drivers, soldiers and war material systems of battlefield. The electronic control is not a necessary system for the tactical vehicles. The tactical vehicles must be prepared the manual control system independently from the electronic control system to escape, save and rescue the soldier's life and war materials. Therefore it was studied the water-penetrated broken APS output. If the output value was changed without driver's will, even the cross-reference type APS, it will effect the uncontrollable engine RPM changing or the performance down on limp-home mode. It means the manual control system of tactical vehicle is needed for any kinds of APS.

  • 최근 다양한 분야의 기반기술이 융합된 형태의 서비스로 텔레매틱스와 관련한 기술개발이 활발히 진행되고 있으며 이와 관련한 기술표준화도 활발히 추진 중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 텔레매틱스 기술 표준화를 위한 기술 프레임워크인 텔레매틱스 참조모델에 대한 개념과 구성요소를 살펴보고 있다. 텔레매틱스 참조모델에서는 텔레매틱스의 주요 구성요소로 텔레매틱스 클라이언트, 통신망 그리고 텔레매틱스 서버 부문으로 구성요소를 분류하였다. 텔레매틱스 클라이언트는 통합측위장치, 차량장치, 텔레매틱스 단말의 세가지로 구성된다. 텔레매틱스 통신망은 다양한 통신 인프라(CDMA, WLAN, DMB, WiBro 등)의 Seamless 통신이 지원이 가능해야 한다. 텔레매틱스 서버는 텔레매틱스 서비스 제공을 위한 TSP 서버와 텔레매틱스 서비스를 위한 컨텐츠 정보를 수집-가공-제공하는 CP 서버로 분류하였다. 이러한 본 연구 결과는 향후 텔레매틱스 기술 개발 및 표준 추진의 제반 아키텍쳐로 활용이 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

A Study on the Reference System for Spatial Information of Railway Object (철도 선로 및 시설물 공간정보 참조체계에 관한 연구)

  • The application of spatial information has drawn significant attention from a wide range of industries. Railway spatial information facilitates the cooperation among related parties and improves the efficiency of asset management and operations. This study proposes the structure of Railway Object IDentifier(ROID) on railway spatial information. Current facility management and train operation are based on relative positioning system. Despite many advantages, relative positioning system causes serious problems such as the entire reconfiguration of positioning in the case of line change. Another major concern is the interface compatibility between individual facilities with different relative positioning. ROID based on absolute positioning addresses these issues, allowing the information exchange and convergence between independent parties. This study proposes ROID based on OID standard with object IDentifier and service object-oriented reference system. Our ROID employs the absolute positioning and the unique identifier, maintaining the compatibility with existing management system.

Control Performance Comparison of Model-referenced and Map-based Control Method for Vehicle Lateral Stability Enhancement (차량 횡방향 안정성 향상을 위한 모델 참조 제어와 맵기반 제어 방법의 제어 성능 비교)

  • This study proposes a map-based control method to improve a vehicle's lateral stability, and the performance of the proposed method is compared with that of the conventional model-referenced control method. Model-referenced control uses the sliding mode method to determine the compensated yaw moment; in contrast, the proposed map-based control uses the compensated yaw moment map acquired by vehicle stability analysis. The vehicle stability region is calculated by a topological method based on the trajectory reversal method. The performances of model-referenced control and map-based control are compared under various road conditions and driving inputs. Model-referenced control uses a control input to satisfy the linear reference model, and it generates unnecessary tire lateral forces that may lead to worse performance than an uncontrolled vehicle with step steering input on a road with low friction coefficient. The simulation results show that map-based control provides better stability than model-referenced control.

Improvement of Recognition of License Plate Numbers in CCTV Images Using Reference Images (CCTV 영상에서 참조 영상을 이용한 자동차 번호판 인식률 제고)

  • This paper proposes a method of analyzing unrecognizable numbers of license plate images, which are degraded by various factors such as low resolution, low light level, geometric distortion, and periodic noise, to name a few. With existing vehicle license plate recognition methods, it is difficult to recognize license plate if images are not recognizable in the pre-process of removing degradation factors. Although images of license plate have not been improved to be recognizable in the pre-process, the proposed method makes it possible to recognize numbers of license by distorting pre-saved reference images of license plate numbers same as sample plates, and by assuming likelihood ratio using statistical methods. The proposed method also makes it possible to identify suspect vehicle license plate under unstable light conditions and with low resolution images that are unrecognizable by the naked eye. This method has been used in real criminal investigation to recognize numbers of license plate of criminal vehicle, and has proved to be useful as criminal evidence through experiments under various conditions.

  • In this paper, the feasibility of a wheelchair carrier for the disabled own driver is checked kinematically to fit one of current domestic vans by drawings, design. A van with 9 passengers is selected for the modification to attach the wheelchair carrier and test the operation in real situation. The trajectory and motion process are studied to protect from the interception with outside body of van, and the conceptual design is proceeded kinematically. For the detail design, the stress analysis and driving mechanism with power supply must be studied and selected basically.

  • 본 논문은 차량형 네트워크에서 고급화된 루트 조회 요청의 응답시간을 측정하는 시뮬레이터를 구현하고 그 측정된 결과를 도시한다. 이산 이벤트 시뮬레이터에 기반하여 서버의 주기적 업데이트, 게이트웨이에서의 레코드당 리프레쉬, 차량으로부터의 조회 요청 발생 등의 사건들을 정의하고 이에 대한 동작을 구현한다. 시간 지역성을 대표하는 LRU 방식과 공간 지역성을 대표하는 FAR 방식의 성능을 측정하기 위해 참조시간을 기록하는 자료구조와 경위도 좌표를 거리로 변환하는 모듈을 작성하였으며 기존의 위치 이력 데이터로부터 조회 요청을 생성한다. 응답시간을 측정한 결과는 공간 지역성이 시간 지역성보다 응답시간에 더 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 낮은 프리페치 부하에서 최대 4배 가량의 응답시간 차이를 보인다.
