  • This discussion presents the results obtained from the implementation of a self-discovery career program using photo diaries and picture books. The program was conducted with 34 college students in 2015 during the 2nd semester of the liberal arts class. The program guided college students, who are faced with career decisions before employment, with information that helped them to understand their individual characteristics. Therefore, they could identify the jobs they aspired for or would be successful in based on that information. At this time, we believed that literature that is based on the essence of human life would be helpful. As a result, college students understood their personality type through the 1 st, 2nd, and 3rd stages of the self-development process and recognized the aspects of themselves which they had previously misunderstood, which they did not know, and which they already knew. This aided them in their career exploration. Therefore, the results showed that although self-discovery career programs based on literature are in their nascent stage, they facilitate college students in their career exploration.

  • This study examined the influence and role of college students' career preference type on the decision-making process of career selection, and also analyzed the effect on the confession bias in the process. The data was collected from June 20th to July 9th, 2017. The case analysis method was used for three times over 20 days by interviewing university students in the metropolitan area. The results of the analysis of the data from the study participants show that there are differences in the degree of individuals regardless of the preferred occupation type and career aptitude, but mostly there is a bias toward career and career. Confirmed biased thinking is a phenomenon that is shaped by the psychological and environmental factors of the research participants and that they try to fit themselves into a framework that reflects social awareness. The implication of this study is that the preference type affects the selection of the major, and that confirmation bias is a hindrance to proper employment and a job search. The preference for the individual job type should be properly established. Environment and opportunity should be provided.

  • Using the 1st and 7th waves of KEEP(Korea Education and Employment Panel), this study explores the relationships among 212 participants' characteristics during high school, experience of taking English-mediated subject courses(EMSC) during college, career decision types, and employment status. These students' high school experiences and college experiences were used to predict the log-odds of taking and the understanding EMSC. Results of the analysis showed that none of high school characteristics such as career decision, English private education experience, interest in English, and their scholastic aptitude test score in English were associated with taking and understanding EMSC. Among college experience variables, only female students' level of understanding English subject courses was statistically significantly higher than that of male students. There were statistically significant positive associations between the understanding the EMSC and the number of the EMSC taken and also between the understanding of the EMSC and perceived usefulness of the EMSC. There was also a statistically significant relationship between career types (continuing with graduate studies vs. working) and taking EMSC, but the relationship between career types and understanding the EMSC was not statistically significant. In addition, the relationship between the experience of taking EMSC and employment status was not statistically significant.

  • This study utilized Q methodology to analyze subjectivity and understand the various factors contributing to the employment difficulties faced by college students majoring in digital content, particularly focusing on practical education. The original data was obtained by administering a Q sample, designed around employment stress and job anxiety, to a purposively selected P sample of 31 individuals, who sorted and classified the statements. The analysis yielded four distinct types: 'lack of practical experience,' 'lack of employment and practical skills,' 'impaired career decision-making and weak will,' and 'lack of mentors and employment information.' Based on these types, the study suggests several implications and solutions, including facilitating student participation in internship programs, offering induction and non-curricular program education, conducting career exploration workshops, and expanding senior mentoring opportunities.
