Differences of Perception Between Students and Teachers to the Key Competencies Education in the University through A College Practice (대학의 직업기초능력 교육에 대한 교수와 학생의 인식 차이: A대학 사례를 중심으로)

  • The expectation and importance for the key competencies education in the university have been greater. Although there have been many various efforts of the university for its social accountability that it should cultivate the qualified person company requires, there is a bit gap between the university education and social demand. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and demand of students and teachers to the key competencies and then offer a help to develop and operate strategies with which university education can be prepared for the demand of teachers, students and society. In this study, questionnaires on the perception and demand to the key competencies education were developed and responded by 475 students and 58 professors as a subject of this study. The results were analysed using multiple response frequency analysis, cross analysis and t-test. Also the statistical level of significance was set at p<.05 by using SPSS 12.0 for Windows. The results suggested that there were significant differences between the perception and demand of teachers and students to the key competencies education, particularly to the items questioning the degree of difficulty in preparing for future employment, the most important resource from which they can obtain aids, the degree of efforts they put for the key competencies development and employment, and the main factors for the key competencies development and employment. We can expect to offer an implication for the university education based on perception and demand of teachers and students to the key competencies.

Effects of vocational roles on the perceived prejudice of people with psychiatric disabilities (직업적 역할은 정신장애인이 지각한 편견을 감소시키는가?)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out some factors affecting the social prejudice perceived by people with psychiatric disability(PPD) and to present some useful explanations for those effects based on theories from symbolic interactionism. The hypotheses were as follow. First, the higher the symptoms, the higher will be the perceived social prejudice of PPD. Second, if PPD have vocational roles, the perceived prejudice will be lower. Third, if PPD want more services or supports for vocational rehabilitation, the perceived prejudice will be higher. Fourth, the higher the perceived prejudice of family members, the higher will be the perceived prejudice of PPD. The results show that the major hypotheses were supported. Based on the results some theoretical and clinical implications are discussed. First, this study made a little contribution to the study of perceived social prejudice of PPD providing some useful theoretical basis and empirical evidences. Secondly, due to the limitation of the data and cross-sectional research the results of this study need to be duplicated under more rigorous experimental or quasi-experimental study. Concerning the clinical intervention, it should be stressed to provide valued social roles to help PPD protect themselves from social prejudices. Secondly, rehabilitation professionals need to help PPD cope with increasing perceived prejudice while pursuing valued social roles such as employee. Third, rehabilitation professionals should assess the perceived prejudice of family members and to help them resist social prejudices through education, self-help groups, and other advocating strategies. Lastly, professionals should be carful not to blame family members for the adverse effects of their perceived prejudice on PPD.

Occupational Evaluation Criteria and Dental Hygienists of Some College Students Occupational Perception Analysis Study (일부대학생들의 직업평가기준과 치과위생사 직업에 대한 인식 분석 연구)

  • Study surveyed perception of dental hygienist occupation was surveyed by examining the qualifications, occupational evaluation Criteria, professional intuition of some college students for the dental hygienist occupation analyzed by the SPSS WIN18.0 program. Among the necessary qualities of dental hygienist, 'professional knowledge of dental hygiene', 'dental hygiene skills' were the highest. Average of Job evaluation Criteria was 4.06, which was higher than the average of 3.80 Job evaluation factors of dental hygienists. As for the Job evaluation criteria, 'stable job', 'job with good work atmosphere and interpersonal relationship' was the highest, 'job with contact with people', 'independent job' was the most. Job evaluation Criteria for dental hygienists, 'jobs with contact with people', 'jobs that can help others' were high, and 'high wages', 'high probability of promotion' were low. As a result of regression analysis of general characteristics and dental hygiene professionalism, it was analyzed that the professionalism of dental hygienists increased when the major was non-health. Overall, In order to improve the qualifications of dental hygienists and raise awareness of vocational evaluation, efforts should be made systematically to identify the strengths and weaknesses of vocational evaluation and dental hygienists and to seek improvements.

Analysis of the Related Factors on Job Satisfaction in Nursing Officers Using the Structural Equation Model (구조방정식모형을 이용한 간호장교의 직무만족도 관련요인 분석)

  • This study was performed to determine the job satisfaction and its association with sociodemographic and health related characteristics, job-related factors, perception on socioeconomic status, professional job perception, job stress and social support among nursing officers. The survey was administered to 542 nursing officers working at military hospitals of the ROK Armed Forces, from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30. The structured self-administered questionnaires were delivered and they were collected without respondents' personal information. As a results, The job satisfaction of respondents turned out to be significantly higher in the following groups: an elder, married, subjective sleep quality is good, feels they are healthy, higher positional status, a longer job career, satisfied with their work, without consider quitting the job, their physical burden of work is adequate. The survey results showed that respondents' job satisfaction is positively correlated with the professional job perception and social support. while it is negatively correlated with job stress. When analyzed by Covariance Structure, it turned out that the professional job perception is more influential on job satisfaction than job stress and social support. The study found the professional job perception, high social support, and low job stress tends to improve job satisfaction. Meanwhile, the study also found that the professional job perception and high social support reduces job stress.

  • 청년실업 문제가 심각한 현대에 특히 무용부분의 사회진출과 취업은 매우 심각한 문제가 아닐 수 없다. 각 대학과 정부차원에서 대학 평가 등을 통해 취업을 장려하고 있는 실정이지만 예능계의 특수한 상황으로 전문적이지만 취업을 하기 위한 발판이나 환경에는 제도적, 환경적인 문제들이 있음을 문제 의식화하여 본 연구는 무용수 직업능력에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위해 무용 교수자, 학습자, 전문무용수를 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 각 40명씩 총 120명을 대상으로 이들의 직업 관련 인식도와 직업 관련 요구도를 조사하였다. 분석방법은 SPSS 18.0을 사용하여 기술통계를 실시하였고, 빈도를 분석하였다. 연구결과 취업 어려움에 대한 체감도가 교육가와 무용수는 높았으나 예비무용수들은 낮게 나타났다. 교육가들과 무용수들은 취업을 위해 전공 능력을 발휘하여야 하며, 인턴십 제도의 정착이 중요하다고 응답하였다. 그러나 예비무용수들은 무용 외에도 다양한 능력 개발의 필요성을 느낀다고 응답하였다.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence of Teacher and Consciousness of Professionalism on Strategies of Problem Behavior Guidance of Early Childhood (유아교사의 정서지능, 전문성 인식이 유아의 문제행동지도전략에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between teacher's emotional intelligence, consciousness of professionalism, and strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Methods: The subjects in this study were 237 childcare center teachers in Seoul and Gyoungi Province in South Korea. Three different inventories were utilized. As for data analysis, the frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and Multiple Regressions were conducted through SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The findings of the study were discussed as follows. First, emotional intelligence of teacher had the relationship with strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Second, consciousness of professionalism of teacher had the relationship with strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Conclusion/Implications: First, The findings showed that as teachers had the high level of ability in recognizing and expressing their emotion preciously, so the elements triggering the situation of problem were identified and captured, and the ability of use of preventive strategies in advance increased. The Effects of Socio-demographic Characteristics of Physical Therapist for the Awareness of Necessity of Opening Independent Clinic & Professionalism of the Physical Therapist (물리치료사의 사회인구학적 특성이 독립개원의 필요성 인식과 전문직업성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is to find out awareness of necessity of opening independent clinic for the PT and the effect of PT's professionalism according to Socio-Demographic Characteristics of Physical Therapist(SDCPT). The methods of this study are a survey with 253 physical therapists(PT) who live in Seoul or Gyeonggi, Korea, 2015. This study focus on SDCPT. As a result, PT was aware of the legal modifications needed for opening independent clinic regardless of the socio-demographic characteristics of them. It found that professionalism of PT does not show higher level. But, who has more age, clinical experience, higher level of education and main interesting field of physical, they have been given credit for high level of professionalism, irrespective of where they have worked. The conclusion is that PT recognized necessity of the legal modification to allow for them to open their own clinic. However, at this moment the level of PT's professionalism recognized by law was not enough to let them open their independent clinic.

Analysis of Perceptions on Accreditation System of Vocational Training Providers and Measures to Improve the Accreditation System (직업훈련기관 인증평가에 대한 인식 및 개선방안 연구)

  • To improve the quality of government-funded vocational training, an accreditation system of vocational training providers has been implemented since 2015. The purpose of this study was to suggest improvement measures by analyzing the accreditation system and the perceptions surrounding it. To this end, accreditation systems from European countries, such as Germany and the UK, as well as related domestic systems, were reviewed. Two surveys were administered to 131 appraisers and 370 vocational training providers. The study results showed that changes to the standard and accreditation processes are not needed at this point. In the long term, however, it will be necessary to request that vocational training providers adopt their quality assurance system. In addition, both appraisers and vocational training providers responded that the accreditation system is being established to increase the quality assurance system within vocational training providers. Based on the study results, several implications for improving the accreditation system were suggested as follows: a vocational training enhancement centered on outstanding vocational training providers; an accreditation system simplification for short-term vocational training providers; a stronger monitoring system during the accreditation period; and an operation of outcome-based accreditation.

Job Esteem and Satisfaction of Estheticians (미용사의 직업존중감과 만족도)

  • As recent domestic cosmetics market has grown rapidly, many people have become interested in skin care. Therefore, this study aims at examining the job satisfaction of experts currently working in beauty industry by conducting a survey on the job esteem and satisfaction of estheticians who are the major professional group in skin care related occupations. The survey was carried out targeting at 289 current estheticians in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and as a result, most of the respondents showed a high level of job esteem (M=3.81). However, there was a significant difference in 'fair treatment' by male and female, and 'relative superiority' by educational background (p<.o1). The job satisfaction showed a high satisfaction as M=3.34 and there were significant differences in working hours, positions and salaries. As the level of self-esteem and job esteem became higher, job satisfaction on occupational consciousness increased. Therefore, it is judged that improving social awareness that evaluates job values and having positive values for one's job will help improve the job performance by enhancing the job satisfaction of estheticians.

Secondary Pre-service Science Teachers' Image of Scientists and Perception on the Science-Related Career (중등 예비 과학교사들의 과학자 이미지 및 과학 관련 직업에 대한 인식)

  • The image of scientists that learners have has an important impact on science learning and on science-related career choices. The image of the scientist was mainly analyzed using the drawing analysis method. Drawing analysis has limitations on drawing, mainly analyzing the external image of scientist. Science teachers' images of scientists and their perception of science-related careers are important factors in students' science learning and science-related career choices. However, research on science teachers is lacking. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the usefulness of measurement tools by developing and applying a scientist image measurement tool through the semantic analysis method, and to discuss the educational implications of the research by investigating the image of scientists and science-related professions of secondary pre-service science teachers. The subjects of the study were 79 male and 55 female for a total of 134 students in the 2nd and 3rd grades majoring in science education at a teachers college. The results of the research show that the image measurement tool consisted of four components: 'ability,' 'evaluation,' 'activity,' and 'emotion,' in 24 items. As a result of applying the developed measurement tool to the secondary pre-service science teachers, the image of the 'evaluation,' 'ability,' and 'activity' elements of the scientist were high, but 'emotion' was low. There was no statistically significant difference according to gender. It is found that science-related career perceive them as 'hard,' 'professional,' 'smart,' and 'complex.' In particular, male students perceive themselves as 'hard and difficult' while female students perceive it as 'challenging and complicated'. Finally, we discussed the usefulness of using the image measurement tool of the scientists, the image of the scientists of the secondary pre-service science teachers, and the educational implications on science-related career.
