A Study on the Effect of Public Library Managers' Communication Styles on Employees' Empowerment, Job Satisfaction, and Life Satisfaction (공공도서관 관리자 커뮤니케이션 유형이 직원의 임파워먼트, 직무만족, 생활만족에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, a research model was designed and verified in order to determine whether the communication styles of public library managers affect employees' empowerment, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted among employees of four public libraries in the Gyeonggi region and 24 libraries in Seoul, and 229 valid responses were analyzed. The analysis revealed that authoritative communication style influenced employees' job satisfaction, while social communication style influenced their empowerment. Additionally, employees' empowerment impacted their job satisfaction, which in turn affected their life satisfaction. This implies that job satisfaction and life satisfaction of the employees can be achieved after communication and empowerment were well established within the organization. This study is meaningful in suggesting an effective management direction for strengthening the essence and foundation of public libraries by examining the theoretical significance and implications of the research result. This study also suggested that in the future, another research should be conducted based on a variety of characteristics by integrating the different communication styles of researchers.

Factors Influencing Turnover Intentions among the Newcomers in the Construction of Landscape Architecture (조경시공분야 신입사원들의 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study aimed to identify influencing factors such as job environment, job characteristics, and job competency as they are related to newcomer turnover intentions in the construction of landscape architecture, Korea. The results based on statistical analyses are follows as: The turnover experience of newcomers in the field of landscape architecture construction was 54.5%, about 1.6 times higher than in other fields. The influencing factors among newcomer turnover intentions in the construction of landscape architecture were workload(p<0.01), job suitability, and personal relations(p<0.01), while in job autonomy, work conditions, job competency, job identity, job variety, and job compensation were not statistically significant. This study found that key important factors of dependent variables that conceptually explain the influence of turnover intentions among newcomers differed between the construction of landscape architecture and other fields. The most important factors in turnover intention were workload>personal relationship>job suitability among independent factors. This study implied that efforts for improvement are needed in areas of workload, personal relations, and job suitability to mitigate newcomer turnover intentions so as to establish common and personal goals in the field of landscape architecture construction because turnover intention could lead losses in human resources, time, economy, and psychological health. In conclusion, this study suggested the importance of efforts for human resource management to reduce turnover intentions among newcomers in the field of landscape architecture construction.

Effect of Ecosystem Factors on Job Satisfaction of Long-Term Care Worker -Focusing on the Home Care Worker- (생태체계 요인이 요양보호사의 직무만족에 미치는 영향 -재가급여기관 종사자를 중심으로-)

  • We attempted to provide a way to improve job satisfaction by analyzing the relationship between the factors influencing job satisfaction directly or indirectly by the ecological system factors of long-term care worker who provide elderly care services at home benefit institutions. In this study, job satisfaction was confirmed to have a positive (+) correlation with all ecological factors except for social and cultural environmental factors by setting the causal relationship between the social and social characteristics of long-term care worker and job satisfaction as dependent variables. The factors with the highest correlation with job satisfaction were social support, followed by family support, job conditions, trust in welfare policies for the elderly, self-efficacy, and self-esteem. Therefore, it can be seen that nursing care workers who recognize positive support from the surrounding social network and family surrounding nursing care workers and positively recognize job conditions are generally positive.

The Structural Relationships between Job-Engagement, Self-Esteem, Positive Thinking on Image-Making Efficacy of Beauty Professionals (뷰티 종사자의 이미지메이킹 효능감에 의한 긍정적 사고, 자아존중감 및 직무몰입의 구조적 관계)

  • The image of beauty professionals who have wide contact with consumers is an important factor that can increase satisfaction and loyalty in consumers by exerting a positive influence on them. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of, and relationships among, self-esteem, positive thinking, and job commitment on image-making efficacy in beauty professionals. The method and scope of this study were carried out by theoretical research related to image-making efficacy, positive thinking, self-esteem, job engagement, and survey research with beauty professionals located in Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do area. We used SPSS v. 23.0 and Amos v. 23.0 to analyze demographic characteristics, the coefficient of internal consistency of the survey items, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and the Sobel Test. The results of the study show that the image-making efficacy of beauty professionals had a positive (+) effect on self-esteem, positive thinking, and job commitment. Second, self-esteem in beauty professionals was found to exert a positive effect (+) on their positive thinking and job commitment. Third, positive thinking by beauty professionals contributed to a positive effect (+) on job commitment. Fourth, the study found that self-esteem and positive thinking mediated the relationship between beauty professionals' image-making efficacy and job commitment.

  • This study focuses on the characteristics of culture and art industry organizations that emphasize tradition and artistic values. The purpose is to investigate the relationship between transformational leadership, job meaning and collective efficacy, and to clarify the effect of this study. In order to clarify this relationship, research models and hypotheses were set up based on literature research, and 377 questionnaires were distributed and retrieved for the relevant industry workers. The results showed that transformational leadership had a significant effect on group efficacy. In addition, the influence of transformational leadership on job meaning, the effect of job meaning on collective efficacy, and the mediating effect of job semantics were confirmed. These findings can provide guidelines for organizational change by identifying the effects of transformational leadership on the attitudes of members in the culture and arts industry.

  • There are nearly 700 public agencies which should establish their own record centers in Korea. Until the end of 2005, nearly half of them had established record centers. It is the time, now, to try not only to force establish them continuously but also to choose their substances. This study aims to propose a business model for Korean record center and differenciate it according to public agencies specialities. Analysis of the Related Factors on Job Satisfaction in Nursing Officers Using the Structural Equation Model (구조방정식모형을 이용한 간호장교의 직무만족도 관련요인 분석)

  • This study was performed to determine the job satisfaction and its association with sociodemographic and health related characteristics, job-related factors, perception on socioeconomic status, professional job perception, job stress and social support among nursing officers. The survey was administered to 542 nursing officers working at military hospitals of the ROK Armed Forces, from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30. The structured self-administered questionnaires were delivered and they were collected without respondents' personal information. As a results, The job satisfaction of respondents turned out to be significantly higher in the following groups: an elder, married, subjective sleep quality is good, feels they are healthy, higher positional status, a longer job career, satisfied with their work, without consider quitting the job, their physical burden of work is adequate. The survey results showed that respondents' job satisfaction is positively correlated with the professional job perception and social support. while it is negatively correlated with job stress. When analyzed by Covariance Structure, it turned out that the professional job perception is more influential on job satisfaction than job stress and social support. The study found the professional job perception, high social support, and low job stress tends to improve job satisfaction. Meanwhile, the study also found that the professional job perception and high social support reduces job stress.

The Effects of Transformational Leadership on Job Satisfaction and Job Performance: Focused on Deluxe Hotel Culinary Staff (변혁적 리더십이 직무만족 및 직무성과에 미치는 영향 - 특급호텔 조리사를 중심으로 -)

  • This study presented a theoretical research system about the impact of boss' transformational leadership that is recognized by super luxury hotel chefs on their job satisfaction and performance, and on the basis of this theoretical background, the model was derived and the hypothesis was confirmed by empirical research. A frequency analysis was conducted to determine the general characteristics of the 245 samples collected in this study, an exploratory factor analysis for the verification of the validity of boss' transformational leadership, employees' job satisfaction and job performance, and 'Cronbach's a' was used for the verification of reliability. In addition, a canonical correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between transformational leadership, job satisfaction and job performance, and the influencing relations of variables were verified by running a multiple regression analysis through SPSS ver 18.0 statistical package in order to verify this research model and hypothesis. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, it was shown that the transformational leadership charisma (p<0.01) and only the individual concern (p<0.1) had a positive influence on job satisfaction. Second, as a result of understanding the impact of the transformational leadership on the job performance through a regression coefficient, it was shown that only boss' intellectual stimulation had an impact on the chef's job performance (p<0.005). Through the results of an empirical analysis that boss' transformational leadership had a correlation and a significant impact on job satisfaction and job performance, the effort of providing the systematic support and motivational aspects of supporting environment will be needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze gender gaps in wage and job satisfaction according to skill characteristics and gender composition in occupation type. Most of the previous studies dealing with gender gaps in wage and job satisfaction have limitations in using a model at a single level. To overcome these limitations, this study integrated the analysis of worker level and job level variables through the application of hierarchical linear model. For the empirical analysis, the 20th year of the Korea Labor Institute Panel Survey and Korea Network for Occupations and Workers data used, factor analysis was utilized to derive cognitive, technical and physical skills. According to the empirical results, female workers in the metropolitan area showed lower average wage and job satisfaction than male worker. these gender gaps were alleviated in occupations which requiring a high level of cognitive skill, while deepening in occupation with a high occupational segregation. The purpose of this study is to derive implications for the policy aimed at reducing the gender gap in the labor market by analyzing the relationship between gender gaps in wage and job satisfaction according to skill characteristics and gender composition rates of wage workers in the metropolitan area.

Proactive Personality, Knowledge Sharing Behavior, Job Characteristics, and Organizational Recognition: An Application of Costly Signaling Theory (주도적 성격과 지식 공유행위, 직무 특성, 그리고 조직의 인정 간 관계에 관한 연구: 비싼 신호보내기 이론을 중심으로)

  • Drawing on costly signaling theory and self-enhancement motive, this study examines the relationships among proactive personality, knowledge sharing behavior, and organizational recognition. In addition to the individual characteristic, this study considers job characteristics as conditional factors, and especially proposes the moderated mediation model in which job complexity and variety moderate the relationships among proactive personality, knowledge sharing behavior, and organizational recognition. To prove these hypotheses, empirical analyses are conducted with 166 dyad samples collected from various industries. As predicted, individuals with high proactive personality are more likely to become involved in knowledge sharing behavior, and this behavior increases organizational recognition rated by their supervisors. Moreover, job complexity and variety moderate the positive relationship between proactive personality and organizational recognition is mediated by knowledge sharing behavior. These results reveal the motive in knowledge sharing and the boundary condition that is necessary to increase such behavior. The study findings will ultimately contribute theoretical and empirical implications to the knowledge management literature.
